"You promise?" Xing Yu was still sowhat uneasy.
"Alright, I promise, once my illness is better, I will definitely take you back to see her," the youth said with rare patience, "Don’t worry."
Upon hearing this, Xing Yu glanced at Yin He, naturally trusting him more since he had personally said he would take her back.
"Take the bedding, let’s find the warst spot inside a cave, if we are late, it won’t do," the youth said, seeing the slight blush on Xing Yu’s face and feeling sowhat baffled. Such a simple concept, one that could be easily understood with a little thought, had wasted so much of his breath.
"Oh, okay—" Xing Yu ca to her senses and imdiately grabbed the bedding and rushed out of the carriage like a gust of wind, the carriage curtain flapping loudly.
The youth frowned, finding it completely bewildering.
...
"A change of personnel again?" Zheng Nianru put down the soup in her hand and looked towards Nanny Yun.
"Your Highness, there hasn’t been a change this ti, but Eunuch Du is indeed very much in tune with The Emperor’s intentions," Nanny Yun imdiately replied, "It’s just that, Eunuch Du doesn’t seem that clever, yet he caught The Emperor’s eyes."
Fu Dong also shook her head in agreent.
"Your Highness, I’ve also seen Eunuch Du shirking his duties multiple tis, waiting in the hall until The Emperor called before entering," Fu Dong said, implying how it wasn’t appropriate not to have soone truly dedicated by The Emperor’s side.
"However, it is said that the day before yesterday, the Eldest Princess ca to visit The Emperor and Eunuch Du offended her, yet The Emperor spoke up for him," Nian Xia added, bringing in a piece of silk brocade woven with interlacing hues of blue and green. The fabric was beautifully vibrant, complinted by the sunlight and the warm breeze bearing the hint of spring as it flowed into the room.
"Your Highness, look at this silk brocade—"
Zheng Nianru glanced at it, uninterested, and motioned for Nian Xia to put it down.
"The Eldest Princess doesn’t often visit," Zheng Nianru murmured, her mind not truly on the subject, as after all this ti had passed, the Eldest Princess had moved on from the grief of the Prince Consort’s death.
"Yes, Your Highness, it’s just that Lord Ju is still waiting outside," Nanny Yun suddenly said, glancing at her mistress. These past few days, her Highness hadn’t t with Lord Ju at all; if she truly didn’t want to et him, however, she could be at Prince Duan’s Mansion...
Even Nanny Yun couldn’t understand what her mistress was thinking.
"He has so much free ti?" Zheng Nianru raised an eyebrow, "If he wants to wait then let him wait."
Inside Chenyuan Hall, Zheng Congyuan leaned on the couch, reviewing the morials to the Throne that had been submitted recently, while Ju Nanyi also presented all that he had accomplished over these days.
Zheng Congyuan selected the most crucial issues and went through them from start to finish, admitting that Ju Nanyi’s actions were prudent and his insights far-reaching. Indeed, the decisions he would have made were similar, and as a man, Ju Nanyi possessed an uncommon attention to detail, clearly outlining everything, both the issues Zheng Congyuan had and hadn’t considered.
Zheng Congyuan set aside the morials, finding it unusual for Eunuch Du to take the initiative to enter the Inner Hall.
"Your Majesty, the Eldest Princess is waiting outside the hall, hoping to see Your Majesty—" Eunuch Du was clearly intimidated by the Eldest Princess and dared not delay.
Zheng Congyuan frowned, noting that Zheng Tianxin had been unusually diligent in the past few days. He didn’t believe his biological sister was genuinely concerned about him; her consistent silence was unexpected.
"Let her in," Zheng Congyuan said, and before Eunuch Du could turn to leave, the person in question had already arrived at the palace door.
"Fu Xun, Imperial Sister has brought you so delicious food," Zheng Tianxin stopped midway between the Inner Hall and Central Hall, consciously halting at that distance. She warily regarded the two-foot gap, as Fu Xun had instructed that enough distance should keep things peaceful.
Zheng Tianxin imdiately signaled Eunuch Du with her eyes, and he didn’t dare not to comply.
"Imperial Sister, please make yourself comfortable," Zheng Congyuan gestured, signaling to Eunuch Du that there was no need to bring the food to him. Eunuch Du promptly set the food box on a nearby table and stood aside.
Zheng Tianxin looked at Zheng Congyuan on the couch with suspicion. Although she found it hard to believe, she knew deep down that her brother would not deceive her with lies.
"You know, Fu Xun, I think your complexion has improved quite a bit lately, it may not be as serious as you’ve said. In my opinion, we should try a few servants, perhaps now no harm will co," she suggested.
"Imperial Sister, I am well aware of my own condition," Zheng Congyuan said helplessly, laying down the morials, knowing he wouldn’t be able to concentrate with Zheng Tianxin there.
"It can’t go on like this forever. I’ve already talked to you about this matter. If you can’t bear to let Zheng Nianru go, try it with so other woman; it would be their good fortune," Zheng Tianxin ntioned.
"Imperial Sister, have you co just for this matter?" Zheng Congyuan looked up at Zheng Tianxin, well aware of how his Eldest Sister would not be this proactive about soone else’s affairs.
