Chapter 331: Part One
The dark night was shrouded in blackness as the shadow floated directly over Weixing Mountain. A gust of wind swept across the ground, and a group of people quickly chased after the shadow toward the foot of the mountain.
"Sir, he slipped away again—," Yu Yuan lanted with hands hanging and feet stomping in regret.
Ju Nanyi glanced at the now tranquil night sky, his expression serious. He was almost certain that this shadow was deliberately leading them out, and these past days, although the appearances of the shadows had been irregular, it was clear they were toying with them.
Why was that?
Ju Nanyi didn’t know the answer. He didn’t understand why the shadow would do this, and compared to previous encounters, this shadow was especially cunning, slipping away right under their watch, not rely escaping but provoking them.
Ju Nanyi felt that if this ghostly shadow could laugh, then the sounds it emitted would be a chilling mockery of them.
"Sir, what should we do?" Yu Yuan, panting heavily, looked desperately at Ju Nanyi, completely out of ideas.
"Hold position," Ju Nanyi said firmly. "Rest here for now."
If the opponent wanted to play, then they would play along, not just for a day or two.
Gui Si retracted the Ghost Shadow with nimble and concise movents. After securing the Ghost Shadow, Gui Si dared not be careless and casually approached his Young Master.
"Young Master, are we returning today?" At the foot of Weixing Mountain, Gui Si, who had spent several days with Yin He, had overco shaking, but still felt restrained.
The young man glanced at the night sky and didn’t speak. Seeing this, Elder Can heaved a sigh of relief and turned, already preparing to leave.
"Release it one more ti," Yin He suddenly said, his patience worn thin, unwilling to wait any longer.
Elder Can was startled and wanted to speak but, after a mont of thought, chose not to. Gui Si looked at Elder Can for help despairingly, given they had just co back; releasing it again ant neither the Ghost Shadow’s stamina nor his own would suffice. What if sothing went wrong?
Gui Si vividly rembered Elder Can’s instructions: to be utterly flawless, never to reveal their identities.
Yin He looked at Gui Si, whose hand trembled. Gui Si didn’t dare speak and was about to take action imdiately.
Elder Can resignedly accepted his fate, hurriedly helping, knowing Gui Si’s capabilities wouldn’t last. But as Elder Can just began, Yin He had already stepped forward and quickly took action.
Elder Can was stunned, watching in surprise and excitent as his Young Master skillfully moved. In just a few days, the Young Master had learned and was as swift in action as Gui San.
Gui Si was so thrilled that his legs trembled; the Young Master was taking action himself. The imnse power instantly made him submit, and Gui Si beca uncontrollably excited while Elder Can stepped forward.
"Steady—" Elder Can said in a deep voice. Gui Si, though timid, was attentive and imdiately focused. With Yin He joining in, he even managed to drive out the Ghost Shadow more effortlessly than before, quickly flying back in the direction they had just co from.
Ju Nanyi and his n had paused to rest briefly, preparing to retreat. Yu Yuan had already had the subordinates pack up, ready to leave when suddenly a fierce wind surged. Before everyone could react, the massive shadow swooped down, changing its previous teasing to a direct, close, and nacing approach. Unprepared, everyone watched as it swiftly swept up two n into mid-air.
Everyone’s expression changed, and the entire squad was thrown into disarray. Guards not swept into the air were thrown out, crashing into tree trunks, rolling into the underbrush, and tumbling into gullies.
"Sir—" Yu Yuan shouted, and amidst the chaos of fluttering leaves and dirt, Yu Yuan suddenly spotted Ju Nanyi nearby, grabbed him, and hid him behind himself, warily watching the black shadow that had just disappeared in the air.
"Co over quickly—" Yu Yuan, still shaken, had only been lucky not to be directly under the attack of the Ghost Shadow, which had allowed him to escape the disaster. Those who were uninjured were also just lucky not to have been hit.
The guards of the Fire Order Squad imdiately gathered together, all feeling alard and unsettled.
The strike from the Ghost Shadow monts ago had nearly exceeded their understanding of the Ghost Shadow’s capabilities.
"Sir, over there." Yu Yuan shouted again, and everyone imdiately looked in that direction, seeing the Ghost Shadow not far off, hidden under the dark clouds. It was only when the clouds stirred that the shadow revealed itself.
Everyone tensed up instantly, clearly the recent strike had left a deep impression on their minds.
However, aside from its sudden attack earlier, the Ghost Shadow now seed to be idling, floating in mid-air, returning to its usual deanor.
Yu Yuan looked at Ju Nanyi, eager to pursue. This Ghost Shadow was too unusual; capturing it might lead to a breakthrough in their research on the Ghost Shadows.
"Chase—" Ju Nanyi naturally wouldn’t miss such a chance, imdiately giving the order. They needed to pursue this Ghost Shadow, not wanting to give up even a trace of it.
"Yes—" The mbers of the Fire Order Squad quickly adjusted, with the injured finding hidden spots while others, grabbing their tools, quickly headed towards the direction of the Ghost Shadow.
Elder Can’s heart lept to his throat. Those people were nearly upon them, yet the Young Master showed no signs of leaving. What was the Young Master planning?
Elder Can suddenly had a bad feeling. Wasn’t it said, to wait another two days until rumors spread everywhere and then "expose a flaw," leading all suspicions to Zong Sheng Residence?
Was the Young Master too impatient?
The young man’s expression was icy. He naturally couldn’t wait, especially after learning more about this marriage arrangent—he was even more impatient.
Seeing Prince Duan had already acknowledged Zong Yunqian, Yin He couldn’t wait another day.
"Chase quickly—" People on Weixing Mountain quickly pursued in the direction of the dark shadow, while the Ghost Shadow, drifting along as if drunk, aimlessly circled around.
Yu Yuan was the first to reach the closest distance, quickly pulling out an arrow from behind, drawing the bowstring fully, and with a fluid motion, shot the arrow. The arrow swiftly moved towards the Ghost Shadow, and although the arrowhead was blunt—virtually non-existent—at the mont it touched the Ghost Shadow, the arrowhead exploded rapidly, enveloping the vicinity of the Ghost Shadow in a burst of red smoke.
"Where’s the item?" Yin He quickly turned back to ask, and Elder Can imdiately snapped out of it, swiftly pulling out a wrinkled robe from his pack and throwing it over Gui Si.
Gui Si didn’t delay, putting on the robe and leaping towards the Ghost Shadow.
"Co quickly, sir is right, there really is soone controlling this Ghost Shadow from behind," Yu Yuan shouted, thereafter even more convinced of Ju Nanyi, imdiately looking at him.
"Act imdiately—" Ju Nanyi didn’t want to miss this chance. Capturing the person behind it would an mastering the Ghost Shadow Technique could be near.
Yu Yuan and the others imdiately rushed towards Gui Si, who had burst out, enclosing all his escape routes with several large nets.
