"Why hasn’t he woken up yet?" A person in the darkness grew impatient and turned to ask a man who only reached his shoulder, who was none other than Lan Xing, the most capable guard of the Eldest Princess. Lan Xing was tall and thin, perpetually distant and indifferent to strangers, but he was efficient and decisive in his actions. Now, he had even surpassed the Hidden Guard in status within the Princess Mansion. The only regret was that his face could only be described as passable.
Therefore, as Lan Xing gazed at the youth lying on the bed with eyes tightly closed yet still incapable of hiding his handso features, he was unsure how to interpret the intent of Zheng Tianxin.
"I should be asking you!" The man in black spoke with an unfriendly tone, moving forward to take a closer look, "Is this the person you ntioned? So unreliable, how could he possibly be the one we’re looking for."
Lan Xing didn’t respond, aware as he was of Master Yin He’s abilities, more so than anyone else. When the Second Prince was still alive, it would have been impossible for him to get close to him.
Zheng Tianxin also once coveted the heart of the deceased Zheng Muyuan, for Zheng Muyuan had relied on the Loyal Warriors of Wen Family and the favoritism of Emperor Jingzhi, even outmaneuvering Zheng Tianxin for so possessions.
"I assure you, the person you’re speaking of, Master Yin He here is the closest match," Lan Xing didn’t ramble. "However, I’m also unsure what has happened to him that has caused him to end up in this state, and his abilities have been damaged, with his mory gone as well."
The man in black turned his skeptical gaze towards Lan Xing, and after another examination of the youth on the bed, fell silent. However, he did not object, as the circumstances Lan Xing ntioned were indeed possible.
"Eldest Princess, why have you co?" Lan Xing heard a sound from behind and turned to see Zheng Tianxin walking in with her maid, Jin Luo.
Lan Xing was slightly startled but quickly had his guards add two more torches, brightening the dungeon sowhat.
Zheng Tianxin gestured dismissively and walked toward the cell herself.
"Princess, please be careful—" Lan Xing imdiately followed, while the man in black remained motionless, just coldly observing the entering Zheng Tianxin.
"He hasn’t woken up yet?" Zheng Tianxin was sowhat displeased. A whole day and night had passed—could he be so sickly weakling?
"Princess, don’t be anxious, we didn’t use particularly powerful Mystical Arts for fear of harming Master Yin He," said Lan Xing, glancing at the man in black.
Zheng Tianxin’s eyebrows furrowed, and she let out a cold snort, her patience running thin.
"Then let’s try. If he’s even weaker than you, then it doesn’t matter if he dies," she said.
Lan Xing hesitated over what excuse to make. The man in black’s identity was special, and if not for the search for their missing leader, he would not have co here.
Upon hearing this, the man in black agreed. Indeed, if he couldn’t handle even his minor Mystical Arts, how could he possibly be the person they were searching for.
The man in black imdiately stepped forward, and Zheng Tianxin took two steps back. She knew how formidable this strange man was, able to kill a bird in flight with a re glance.
As the man in black reached out and touched Master Yin He, sothing invisible to the naked eye shot straight into Master Yin He’s body, fierce and tyrannical, as if determined to destroy all his ridians.
The next mont, the youth lying on the wooden plank suddenly opened his eyes and swiftly retracted his arm, making it seem to outsiders as if he had effortlessly pulled his arm from the grasp of the man in black. The man in black was visibly surprised, and Lan Xing was taken aback as well.
Master Yin He coldly surveyed the people before him, not recognizing a single one. Were these people here to kill him?
The black-clad strange man wanted to see sothing in the boy’s eyes, but when their Young Master went missing, he was very young and always within the Forbidden Altar. Hardly anyone saw his true face, so there was no direct evidence to confirm the identity of the youth before him apart from his approximate age.
"Is he awake now?" Zheng Tianxin’s mood suddenly improved. She hadn’t expected that once those eyes opened, the boy’s expression would co to life. His eyes were extrely black, as brilliant as the star-studded night sky, stunning her beyond expectation.
Yin He looked at the speaking Zheng Tianxin, a glint of confusion in his eyes, for he seed to have seen this person before. Yes, he had seen her.
"Are you going to kill ?" Did this woman bear a grudge against their Commandery Princess, was this a kidnapping for revenge?
Zheng Tianxin smiled cheerfully, pleasantly surprised by the boy’s calmness and composure, which suited her taste even more than the fawning and humble obedience of others. The boy’s gaze was clean and pure, like an uncut gem.
"Kill you? How could I bear to kill you? I went through so much effort to bring you here, it wasn’t to kill you." Zheng Tianxin asured the boy up and down, even more pleased. "It is indeed a pity to follow such a waste, why not follow instead?"
Zheng Tianxin leaned in slightly, her skin as white as snow, with a likeness to Zheng Congyuan that was noticeable even if one were to disregard her noble status—enough to attract people, especially the inexperienced youth.
Yin He wanted to refuse, but he intuitively felt that the two beside the woman were not to be trifled with. Moreover, the Jade Pendant the woman carried clearly had protective arts.
These familiar things sparked the boy’s curiosity about the Eldest Princess. Perhaps, he could learn so things he wanted to know from her.
But the boy remained silent, watching Zheng Tianxin with cold eyes, his clear, desire-free pupils peering into her heart. She was very interested in him, then felt dejected, a reaction never elicited by his Commandery Princess.
...
He Jin held his tea, sitting in the pavilion at the front of the courtyard, with the gauze curtains on both sides lifted by the Attendants. Batches of cloth were being unfolded before his eyes.
"Prince Consort, these are the finest materials in the Imperial City right now. This servant thinks the embroidery work is simply peerless. The Eldest Princess spoke a word, and they were all bought, solely for the Prince Consort’s use." Steward Wan Hu personally delivered them, his face full of eager-to-please energy, even showing one of the fabrics himself, displaying the exquisite pattern to the man before him.
He Jin was not interested, but he knew that if Zheng Tianxin sent a gift, there must be other motives, and this ti, the gift even seed quite thoughtful, so the matter was likely not trivial.
"Speak, what does the Eldest Princess want to do?" He Jin put down his teacup, eager to end the dull conversation as soon as possible.
"Prince Consort, you are wrongly accusing the Princess. The Eldest Princess discovered this shop by chance, and you may have heard of the shop owner behind it, the second Young Master of the Wen Family who often enjoys studying these things. Could the things he deals with be bad? Hence, the Princess used force and money to buy everything," Steward Wan Hu replied, not daring to hide anything, his hands trembling.
He Jin glanced at Wan Hu, indifferent to the items, and more aware that whatever Zheng Tianxin wanted to do, he could not stop her.
"Now that the Crown Prince’s n have dispersed, the Loyal Warriors of Wen Family from the Fourth Prince have been searching multiple tis. Tell , whose person has the Princess snatched this ti?" What He Jin couldn’t understand was why one man would be involved with both the Crown Prince and the Fourth Prince, two people who seed unrelated.
Steward Wan Hu imdiately knelt down with a thud.
"Prince Consort, it was, it was just a guard..."
