Chapter 928: Chapter 928: I’m Only Casual with You
Mary Scott lifted her head and t David Locke’s handso face, which hadn’t yet managed to hide its smile. Her heart skipped a beat, feeling like he was taking the chance to flirt with her.
“What kind of look is that?” David Locke t Mary Scott’s curious gaze and asked with raised eyebrows.
Mary Scott quickly averted her eyes, muttering that it was nothing, intending to call the doctor, but David Locke grabbed her hand. She looked at him, puzzled, “What are you doing?”
“If you want to look, then look openly. I don’t mind. If necessary, I can cooperate,” David Locke said with a serious expression.
At first, Mary Scott didn’t quite grasp what the man ant until her gaze landed on his loosely tied bathrobe, revealing a hint of his well-defined chest.
Due to his leg injury, Martin sent him a long bathrobe yesterday, so at least he didn’t have to take off pants anymore. But the problem was this person started treating the hospital room as a hotel, becoming more and more casual.
Mary Scott looked for quite a while, finally understanding what he ant by “cooperate,” her face flushed, “You…”
“What about ?” David Locke asked innocently while Mary Scott failed to complete her sentence.
Seeing him act all innocent, Mary Scott realized it was deliberate. Her courage flared up, and she glared at David, “Fine, I want to see this, this, and this. Can you cooperate?”
Mary Scott pointed at his chest, waist, and abdon, then crossed her arms, watching David leisurely.
David Locke looked at the spots Mary Scott had pointed to as if her fingertips weren’t touching him but instead igniting a spark. Those areas felt like they were on fire, expanding out from where she touched, engulfing him.
Feeling an unusual heat in his body, David Locke realized what it ant to play with fire. Especially facing Mary Scott’s sly eyes, he felt even hotter, and when he spoke, his voice was hoarse, “Are you sure?”
“Didn’t you say so? Regretting it now?” Mary Scott saw David’s reaction and knew he had been teasing her, so she wanted to see how he would handle it.
David resisted with his tongue against his teeth, “Why would I?”
With that, he casually pulled the belt free, exposing his tan skin completely to Mary Scott.
Mary Scott let out a small unguarded gasp, pointing at David, “You… you’re shaless!”
“Weren’t you the one who wanted to see? I’m just cooperating. If anyone’s shaless, it should be you, not , right?” David chuckled mischievously at Mary Scott’s embarrassed reaction.
“I… I was just saying, and you actually showed ! Why are you so straightforward?” Mary Scott covered her eyes but couldn’t help peeking through her fingers, like a new Facebook emoji. And the more she looked, the more she admired his physique.
David was amused by her words and moved a step closer, “If my wife wants to see, I must show her. And what do you an by straightforward? I’m only straightforward with you.”
Buzz!
Mary Scott’s mind buzzed hearing that, her eyes widened. What did he an by only being straightforward with her? Surely he wasn’t assuming she was oblivious to his past flings?
But she finally understood why actresses and models were so drawn to him. If he seriously flirted, who could resist?
Phew!
Mary Scott took a deep breath, “Dobbin, can you not stand so close…” She could barely breathe, worried she’d lose control.
“Finished looking?” David didn’t move, asking with a smile on his lips.
Mary Scott nodded quickly.
“Satisfied?” David continued.
“Uh?” Mary Scott’s mind seed foggy, letting out an ‘uh’ before nodding urgently.
But David wouldn’t let her off, “Uh ans what? Not satisfied? Want to take a closer look?”
Mary Scott quickly pushed him away, “No need, satisfied, super satisfied.”
“Oh, so should we test the results?” David looked down at the gentle hand pressed to his abdon, his throat bobbing as he asked in a low voice.
“What?” Mary Scott thought she misheard. What did he an by testing the results? Could it an what she thought it did?
With wide eyes, she looked up at him, her lips dry, unconsciously licking them. Suddenly, David bent down and gently bit her tongue.
She gasped from the pain and heard David’s deep voice ask, “If you don’t speak, I’ll take it as agreent?”
“Who agreed? Are you crazy? This is a hospital!” Mary Scott backed away in shock.
David curved his lips in delight, “So it ans outside the hospital, it’s a yes?”
“No!” Mary Scott hurriedly denied it. She’d never t soone who could speak so openly about such things.
“Haha.” David didn’t directly refute her words, just let out a aningful laugh that made Mary Scott’s heart itch, feeling he was up to sothing. Just as she was about to firmly deny any such aning, the hospital room door opened.
Startled, Mary Scott reached for David’s loose belt. But in her rushed movent after standing still for a long ti, she stumbled into his arms.
Doctor Felix opened the door to see the intimate scene and raised an eyebrow, “Are you sure this is the right place? This is a hospital.”
Already embarrassed, Mary Scott turned even redder at the doctor’s teasing and tried to straighten up, but before she could, David leisurely said, “Any objections?”
“None at all,” Doctor Felix shrugged.
Mary Scott only learned yesterday that David knew Doctor Felix. Hearing their banter made her glare at David, then she hurriedly tied his bathrobe’s belt and found an excuse to escape to the bathroom.
Once Mary Scott left, leaving only the two n, Doctor Felix glanced at David and then at Mary hiding in the bathroom, lowering his voice, “Pervert.”
“I’m flirting with my wife, not yours. How does that make a pervert?” David lazily lay down on the hospital bed.
Doctor Felix snorted, “Trying to flirt with my wife, are you?”
“No interest,” David shrugged.
Doctor Felix sneered, “Better not. Or else, I wouldn’t mind making you a eunuch.”
David chuckled, having no intention of becoming such, and stopped teasing his friend, “Can I leave the hospital now?”
“Can’t you tell yourself?” Jack Thomas responded disdainfully but still reminded him, “Your leg isn’t that bad, but you mustn’t strain it. Take it easy or risk permanent damage.”
David, “…”
“For how long?” David took a deep breath and asked.
Jack noticed his urgency and jokingly said, “At least a month. Your leg’s a sensitive area. Don’t overestimate yourself.”
“A month?” David instantly deflated.
When Mary Scott ca out of the bathroom, Doctor Felix was already gone. The man who seed in good spirits earlier now looked dejected, making her heart skip, “What happened? Did Doctor Felix say sothing?”
“Nothing really. The day after tomorrow’s New Year’s Eve. I’ll have Martin process my discharge papers later,” David brushed it off.
But Mary Scott couldn’t help studying his face, “Are you sure nothing’s wrong?”
Earlier, before entering the bathroom, he didn’t look this dispirited.
Seeing Mary Scott’s genuine concern, David reached out a hand, “Really want to know?”
She leaned in, nodding. She caused the accident, after all. How could she not worry?
But leaning in, she realized, wasn’t just to talk. Why so close?
She thought as David whispered near her ear, his breath warm against her skin, sending shivers down her spine. By the ti she absorbed what he said, she looked at him in shock.
Seeing her adorable reaction, David deliberately apologized with a serious face, “Moll, I know as won get older, their needs increase, so this month will be tough on you.”
Mary Scott, “…”
“Dobbin, you’re shaless!” Finally comprehending his words, Mary Scott exclaid furiously, her face burning red. How did she not realize how shaless he’d beco?
The more upset she got, the happier David seed, taking the chance to pull her into his embrace, “Didn’t I get it right? Who insisted I strip for her earlier?”
Mary Scott, “…”
Ah, she wished for the ground to swallow her!
Even through discharge, Mary Scott refused to speak to David. Yet he remained utterly unfazed, a smile on his lips the whole ti, much to the discomfort of the driver and his assistant, Martin.
Once at Rose Valley, Mary Scott huffed indignantly at David as she got out of the car, only to co face-to-face with a familiar figure. Her face froze, and she called out guiltily, “Alfred.”
Alfred Scott looked at his sister, whose nights out had worried him, and turned his grim gaze to David behind her.
David didn’t move until Martin, amidst the tense atmosphere, brought the wheelchair over. Only then did David leisurely sit down, addressing Alfred with familiarity, “Alfred, you’re just in ti. Otherwise, I planned to have the driver pick you up.”
Alfred looked at David in the wheelchair, his face still pale, then firmly told Mary, “Sister, let’s go.”
But when he reached to take her hand, Mary didn’t move.
Frustrated, Alfred exclaid, “Sister, look at how he’s been treating you, yet you can’t see the truth? He’s just a heartless swine. Will you only be satisfied after being wronged and driven away again?”
Mary stamred, “Well, it’s different this ti. I’m just here to take care of him. Once he’s better, I’ll leave.”
“You take care of him? Is he worthy?” Alfred grew anxious, believing his sister blinded by love. With David’s kind of shaless man, one betrayal would lead to more.
Mary felt awkward. She had decisively left with her brother, yet she was back again. It was embarrassing, but she didn’t notice the air growing colder after her words about leaving once he healed as she continued, “Alfred, it’s not what you think. I… I’m only here because I hit him.”
Alfred stopped and then asked in disbelief, looking between his sister and David in the wheelchair, “You hit him?”
Had his sister acted out of love and hate?
Mary nodded awkwardly, “Well, sort of.”
“What do you an by ‘sort of’? Either you did or you didn’t. Sort of isn’t clear.” Alfred was worried. From the looks of it, David seed seriously hurt, and this couldn’t be falsely claid.
“It was your sister Mia driving, and I was with her when we hit him,” Mary awkwardly chuckled.
Alfred stiffened, “Mia can drive?”
Mary’s smile was forced, “I guess so.”
Now Alfred understood but still eyed David uneasily, “Has the hospital confird it? Don’t end up getting scamd.”
Martin, hearing his accusation, wanted to defend David but held back at seeing how calm his boss was, rely casting a disgruntled look at Alfred.
Mary rembered the doctor’s advice and awkwardly explained, “He had scans. It’s a comminuted fracture, so he can’t walk properly for half a year.”
Alfred paused, eyes glancing at his sister and then at the visibly paler and thinner David in the wheelchair, “So you’re staying to care for him for over half a year?”
“It’s not the only way. If I can compensate him for his lost ti with twenty-four million, then I wouldn’t have to,” Mary sincerely explained to her brother.
Brightening at an alternative, Alfred’s hope was dashed by her next comnt, and after a long silence, he finally said, “I don’t mind you caring for him, given you two didn’t actually divorce.”
Mary, “…” Truly siblings, are they?
David raised an eyebrow, “Planning to stand in the doorway all day? Isn’t it cold?”
His words made Alfred shiver, after an hour in the cold, finally feeling it.
Mary noticed her brother’s thin clothing, rembering he’d recently had surgery. Her face paled, reminding him, “How many tis have I told you to wear more outside? How could you forget, especially after surgery…”
David watched as Mary dragged Alfred by the hand into the villa, unlocking it by fingerprint, leaving him and his wheelchair behind at the entrance. Catching Martin’s sympathetic look, David’s mood soured.
Martin cleared his throat awkwardly, “Director Locke, shall I push you inside?”
“Do you expect to get in myself?” David retorted.
Martin rubbed his nose, giving a wry smile, deciding to tuck away his sympathy for his boss while ntally saluting Mary, ‘Well done, madam!’
Then he leisurely pushed David towards the villa. He looked forward to the boss’s future recovery journey!
