Chapter 698: Chapter 698: Your Being Alive is the Best Thing Chapter 698: Chapter 698: Your Being Alive is the Best Thing Chapter 698: Your Life Is More Important Than Anything

Brandon Piers took a deep breath after hearing that. “Why?”

“You know Nina is my life. I’m sorry, Brandon. I couldn’t help you.” Sofia Piers didn’t expect her mother would use her own daughter to threaten her.

“I understand.” Brandon Piers hung up the phone with a snap. How could he rely on his elder sister to take Eva Bell away?

He pressed his temples, feeling a headache and a slight pain in his wound. At that mont, soone knocked on his study door, and he instinctively thought of Abigail, quickly responding. Instead, it was Jas Carter carrying a dical kit who walked in.

Brandon Piers was taken aback. “Why are you here?”

Jas Carter’s hand holding the dical kit stiffened. “Is there a problem with being here?”

Brandon Piers didn’t respond imdiately, but Jas Carter had already opened the dical kit. “Mr. Piers, it’s ti for your dressing change.”

“Oh.” Brandon Piers wasn’t particularly interested but didn’t refuse. He had many matters to deal with and needed to recover quickly.

Watching Jas Carter change his dressing, he couldn’t help but think of the days at the old house in Gills City when Abigail secretly changed his dressing at night.

Back then, his little chubby girl was really chubby, with chubby hands, but her stitches were agile and particularly attractive. The sutures were beautifully done with even stitches, perfectly satisfying his obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Brandon Piers couldn’t help but think that perhaps he had already developed other feelings for his little chubby girl back then. Otherwise, why would he repeatedly seek her out to treat his wounds?

It had to be like that.

As Jas Carter treated his wound, everything started off normal, but as ti went on, he noticed Brandon Piers looking at him with increasing intensity. This made Jas Carter, who was used to Brandon’s cold gaze, swallow nervously. His hands moved more quickly, and he felt increasingly uneasy, wondering what was wrong with Mr. Piers.

Could it be that his breakup with his wife caused him to transfer his affections to him?

Jas Carter quickly dismissed the thought. Even if Brandon were to transfer his affections, it should have been to Miss Bertha Swift, right?

“All… done.” As Jas Carter finished applying the last piece of gauze, he, usually composed and calm, stuttered. Then he hurriedly got up. “Can… can I go now?”

Usually, after changing the dressing, Jas Carter would remind Brandon of so precautions to avoid secondary injuries. But today, he wanted to leave imdiately. Even though he was a man, facing Brandon’s intense gaze and handso face was too much. He feared he might unintentionally be swayed.

Brandon, lost in his thoughts, didn’t notice Jas Carter’s unusual behavior and faintly agreed. He saw Jas Carter hurriedly gather his dical kit and leave, then turned to Pullan, who stood by the door with his hands crossed.

“What’s wrong with him?”

Despite standing at the doorway, Pullan had witnessed everything and swallowed hard. “Maybe he has sothing urgent? You know Dr. Morse also consults at the hospital.”

“Oh.” Brandon didn’t pay further attention to Jas Carter’s odd behavior. Looking down at his bandage, he frowned slightly. It wasn’t as neat as Abigail’s work.

Just as he thought about this, he realized Abigail had only left half a day ago, and he already missed her. How would he get through the days ahead?

Rose Valley.

Abigail arrived at the villa and saw how much effort Benjamin Jones had put in.

Despite the rush, the villa was thoroughly cleaned from top to bottom. All the bed sheets and covers were new, and even the curtains were replaced to match the light green four-piece set, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere.

The villa spanned over 300 square ters with three floors. It had a small garden, ticulously maintained. The first floor had a guest room, a living room, a kitchen, and a dining room. The second floor had three rooms, while the third floor had a private cinema and an open-air terrace.

Benjamin had even thoughtfully decorated the children’s room.

Abigail licked her lips absentmindedly. “Did you drive the original owner out?”

Such a beautifully designed and luxuriously furnished villa couldn’t have just been rented randomly.

“Not really. This villa belonged to a client of mine. Sadly, less than a year after the house was renovated, they divorced. It’s been vacant since then. When you needed a place, I thought of asking about it.” Benjamin didn’t beat around the bush, explaining honestly.

Abigail exhaled slightly in relief, though she was curious. “Do you still take divorce cases?”

“Occasionally.” Benjamin didn’t want to discuss work with Abigail. After she settled in, he pointed across the way. “I forgot to tell you, I live right across from you.”

Abigail was surprised. “Across from ?”

“Yes. Because we’re neighbors, I took her divorce case.” Benjamin spoke calmly.

Abigail scrutinized him closely. Just as Benjamin was about to falter, she clicked her tongue in wonder. “I thought you’d always live in hotels. I didn’t expect you to have your own place.”

“Shows how little you know .” Benjamin nonchalantly quipped. “All settled? I had an aunt prepare dinner. Should we have it sent here, or would you prefer to eat over there?”

“It’s too much trouble to bring it over. We’ll go over.” Abigail looked at Teddy, who was overly excited to be in the new house.

The little guy wasn’t shy at all, his big eyes filled with curiosity about everything new. He dragged Aunt Claudia around the living room. As Abigail and Benjamin talked, he had already circled the sofa three tis. Seeing the thin sweat on Aunt Claudia’s forehead, Abigail turned to Benjamin. “Why don’t you find a nanny, please?”

“Already done. I’ve selected a few; you can choose one tomorrow. As for als, we can use my nanny. I travel a lot, so she has plenty of free ti.” Benjamin then picked up Teddy. “Co on, Teddy. Let your Aunt Claudia rest.”

Abigail was genuinely impressed by Benjamin’s ticulous thoughtfulness. She felt a bit guilty. “How can I thank you?”

“You don’t need to thank .” Benjamin paused, softening his voice. “You being alive is thanks enough.”

Abigail was taken aback, her eyes welling up. She awkwardly retorted, “When did you beco so sentintal?”

The icy, stern Benjamin finally showed a hint of embarrassnt. He didn’t answer but instead held Teddy. “Teddy, let’s go have dinner.”

Though young, Teddy had already started identifying friendly faces. After spending ti in the car with Benjamin, he had ward up to him. Now, in Benjamin’s arms, he obediently raised his little arms towards Abigail. “Mama, food… food…”

Abigail facepald and asked Aunt Claudia to join them at Benjamin’s for dinner.

Benjamin watched Abigail’s back, internally responding to her earlier question. When did he beco sentintal? Perhaps it was the mont he learned she was still alive.
