Chapter 572: Chapter 572: Can I Take This as a Confession of Love? Chapter 572: Chapter 572: Can I Take This as a Confession of Love? “Hoo!”

Abigail leaped out of the water, splashing everywhere.

Jeffrey Foster heard the commotion, put away his phone, and handed Abigail a towel.

Abigail took it, wiped the seawater off her face, feeling good, then picked up a sunscreen shirt from the side and draped it over herself. She looked at Jeffrey curiously, “Senior brother, what were you looking at so intently just now?”

“Nothing. Are you tired? Do you want to go back and rest? In the future, let’s swim at ho. Although the seawater here is shallow, it might still be dangerous.” Jeffrey fussed like a considerate husband.

Abigail nodded, “Got it, you’re nagging.”

Saying this, she took a sip of coconut juice, walked barefoot on the white sandy beach, and headed towards their house.

The beach was beautiful. The seawater was clear and blue. It hadn’t been overly developed, so it retained its original pristine beauty.

Abigail fell in love with this place since she ca here with her senior brother, staying for two months.

Because it was a private island, the basic infrastructure was good, but there were few tourists. Life was convenient and quiet.

Just past the beach, less than 500 ters away, there was a semi-detached villa, similar in style to the one they stayed at on the farm.

After returning, Abigail went into the bathroom first.

Three months had passed, and sotis, looking at the person in the mirror, she still felt a strong sense of unfamiliarity. But another sense of familiarity washed away this unfamiliarity.

The person in the mirror was slimr than two months ago. Since she lost weight with a plan and a purpose, not only did she not encounter any health issues, but because of swimming during this ti, and longer sun exposure, her fair skin seed to have a light layer of honey, looking healthy and a bit wild. Wearing a conservative bikini made her figure stand out even more.

An hour of swimming each day, combined with other exercises, made her arms and legs more streamlined and attractive. Taking off the bikini revealed a faint hint of abs on her waist. Only that twisted scar was still ugly, like a mark on her skin, reminding her of sothing forgotten.

Abigail stared at that scar for a long ti. Images of cesarean section, giving birth, even the birth of a child ca to her mind. But it was as if shrouded in mist, making her feel like it was soone else’s life.

Vague and unreal.

“Forget it. Maybe they’re just unhappy mories; that’s why they’re blurry.” Abigail shrugged and went into the bathroom.

Shaking off the unpleasant thoughts, Abigail stepped into the bathroom.

When she ca out, Jeffrey had already prepared dinner. The sunlight outside the floor-to-ceiling windows turned golden, falling on the horizon, bathing the entire villa in a golden glow. It was unbelievably beautiful.

Jeffrey looked up to see Abigail, now in a comfortable long dress, walking towards him in the golden light. In three months, she had shed the last bit of extra weight, looking dazzlingly beautiful.

Due to island life, she was much darker than when she arrived. She lost so of her fair complexion but gained a bit of radiant sensuality. Her whole body exuded vibrant energy. Although she didn’t physically resemble her previous self, she was still just as captivating.

He had never seen this side of Abigail.

Just standing there, she exuded youthful vitality.

This made Jeffrey think. She was only nineteen, while he was already thirty.

An eleven-year gap. He wondered if she could still fall in love with him.

“What’s wrong?” Abigail, seeing her senior brother staring blankly at her, waved her hand in front of his face.

“You’re beautiful like this.” Jeffrey snapped out of it and said softly.

Abigail paused, then awkwardly avoided his eyes. The deep emotions in them seed like they could burn soone.

In the three months since she woke up, it wasn’t the first ti Abigail saw her senior brother looking at her like this. But every ti, it left her feeling helpless.

Sotis, she couldn’t help but wonder if she had a masochistic tendency. Otherwise, why did she chase after her senior brother regardless when she had a crush on him? Now that they were married, she couldn’t handle his affection.

“Let’s eat.” Abigail sat down first.

Jeffrey was used to Abigail’s attitude and didn’t mind.

After three months of being together, he thought it was enough to genuinely bond and naturally be together. But for so reason, although they were physically close, it felt like they were distant. He attempted several tis to take their relationship further, but each ti, she apologetically declined.

So, their relationship remained in a stalemate, married in na but no different from before.

Still, being able to see her first every morning, eat, walk, chat, exercise together, and then say goodnight, Jeffrey felt very content.

This was a life he had never even dared to dream of.

“Alright.” Jeffrey only paused for a mont before sitting down.

“By the way, senior brother, how is the hospital handling things? We’ve been away for so long. Won’t the hospital have opinions?” Abigail asked curiously while tasting the seafood soup.

Jeffrey, dishing up rice for her, casually replied, “I resigned after your incident. I’m a free man now. Does that scare you?”

This ti, Abigail was stunned. In these three months, they rarely brought up things back ho. Her senior brother never ntioned the hospital work. She thought he had taken a long leave for her but didn’t expect him to resign. She felt a bit guilty but even more puzzled. “Scared of what?”

“Scared I might not be able to support you.” Jeffrey laughed.

Abigail knew he was teasing her and smiled at him. “Then I can eat less.”

Jeffrey chuckled, “Can I take that as a confession?”

“A confession?” Abigail looked at Jeffrey in confusion.

Jeffrey suddenly recited a dialogue with his deep, magnetic voice, “Do you have to marry a rich man?

If I don’t love him, I won’t marry him even if he’s a millionaire. If I love him, I would marry him even if he were worth millions.

So you still want to marry a rich man.

There are exceptions.

What about ?

Then just having enough to eat would be enough.

Do you eat a lot?

No, not much. I could eat even less in the future.”

Abigail finally understood. This was a passage from Echo’s “The Scarecrow Notes,” a book they read when they first t at sixteen. She was surprised her senior brother still rembered it.

Back then, they were young and shed tears over soone else’s love story.

Unexpectedly, after so many years, they were still together. Abigail suddenly realized she had been too sentintal lately. The child was already lost; those who were alive were the most important. She shouldn’t keep torturing her senior brother because of her confusion.

They had already missed many years; they shouldn’t miss any more. Looking at her senior brother confessing with soone else’s love words, Abigail suddenly recalled the story’s ending. Thinking of Jose’s death, a naless pain pricked her heart, her eyes moistening. “Senior brother, let’s have another wedding when we go back to the farm.”
