Chapter 453: Chapter 453: The Language of Daisies Chapter 453: Chapter 453: The Language of Daisies Abigail left the classroom and followed Jeffrey Foster to his office.

The dical University obviously treated him well. He had a private office, neat and simple with no superfluous items, reflecting his usual style.

When Abigail entered, Jeffrey Foster poured her a glass of warm water. As she accepted it, she still pondered why he had called her.

“I’m sorry about what happened last ti. It didn’t affect you, did it?” Jeffrey Foster poured himself a glass as well. Noticing Abigail still standing, he pointed to the chair opposite him, “Sit down.”

“No, Dean Foster… I should call you Mr. Foster. Mr. Foster, do you need sothing from ?” Abigail initially addressed him as Dean Foster, but then corrected herself, given the situation. After asking, her gaze fell on his cup.

It was an ordinary enal cup, with sowhat rough craftsmanship, a flower stem extending outward. It looked like a failed piece; she had made it herself during her first year in Gills City at a pottery store she stumbled upon before officially starting her job.

Actually, the cup was part of a pair, the flower stem extending onto the other cup, forming a blooming daisy.

The daisy’s aning was love in the heart.

Just arriving in Gills City, she still harbored a blossoming young girl’s heart, filled with the passion of running to a foreign land for love, carefully hiding those girlish thoughts.

Won are indeed contradictory beings.

Abigail thought self-deprecatingly.

Noticing her gaze, Jeffrey Foster’s eyes darkened. “Do you like it?”

“Huh?” Abigail snapped out of her thoughts and quickly shook her head. “No, I’m just curious why such a refined person like you would use a roughly made cup.”

“Rough? I think it’s great. It’s my junior’s first attempt. She’s good with a scalpel, but this kind of delicate work was challenging for her. Considering that, it’s quite an achievent.” ntioning his junior, a faint look of indulgence and rembrance appeared on Jeffrey Foster’s refined face.

Abigail stared in a daze. Had she missed sothing from before?

“By the way, I do need your help. I heard that yesterday at the opening ceremony, Old Mr. Smith took you as his apprentice?” Jeffrey Foster changed the topic as if he didn’t notice Abigail’s emotions.

“Yeah, kind of by accident.” ntioning this, Abigail put away her emotions, responding sowhat apologetically. Saying it was by accident was a lie. She knew better than anyone that Grandpa only wanted to use it as an excuse to have her visit him more often. Taking her as an apprentice was just a pretext.

But she hadn’t expected Jeffrey Foster to call her about this.

After a mont, Jeffrey Foster seed to recall sothing. “The old man has a bad temper. You must have noticed. Are you adjusting well?”

“It’s okay. The old man just has a tough deanor but is a good person.” Abigail lied. Her grandpa wasn’t just tough.

Jeffrey Foster was surprised, then smiled bitterly. “It seems Miss Green—classmate and Old Mr. Smith have quite a bond.”

“Maybe because of Dr. Smith, I know a bit about the old man.” Seeing the bitterness on Jeffrey Foster’s face, Abigail understood her situation was different. He must have had a hard ti with her grandpa.

“Is that so?” Jeffrey Foster looked deeply at Abigail, then finally stated his purpose. “Old Mr. Smith has had so misunderstandings about and has refused to see . I have an impertinent request. Could you help arrange a eting with him? I have always wanted to apologize to him, and also…”

At this point, the sadness in Jeffrey Foster’s eyes deepened. Abigail’s heart ached, and she heard her senior slowly say, “My junior is no longer here. As the person closest to her, I am responsible for her death. I wanted to fulfill my duty to the elderly in her place.”

Abigail felt a sourness in her heart but didn’t know what to say.

Jeffrey Foster’s tone turned soft and low. “This ti, I left my job at Sincere to co to the dical University, just to be closer to Grandpa Smith. Grandpa Smith is old, lonely, and has a bad temper. Now with Abigail gone, it must be hard for him.”

Talking about this, Jeffrey Foster’s voice beca hoarse.

“I’ll ntion it to Grandpa Smith, but I can’t guarantee he’ll agree.” Abigail had never seen such a self-reproaching and gloomy senior. It made her feel bad too. She paused before answering.

She could talk to her grandpa, but she couldn’t decide whether he would agree to et.

“Thank you.” Jeffrey Foster’s voice was full of sincerity.

Abigail felt a bit at a loss, facing the eyes she had once loved. Lying to him felt cruel, “I…”

Buzzz…

Just as Abigail couldn’t bear it any longer and wanted to confess to Jeffrey Foster, her phone vibrated abruptly. Afraid it was a call from ho, she quickly took it out, only to see Brandon Piers’s number. Her body tensed suddenly. Why would he call her now?

A strange feeling rose in Abigail’s heart.

Thinking about what might be happening, Abigail frowned and smiled apologetically at Jeffrey Foster, “Uhm… Mr. Foster, if there’s nothing else, can I go back to the classroom now?”

“Okay, thank you.” Jeffrey Foster guessed who was calling by Abigail’s expression and nodded.

Abigail left Jeffrey Foster’s office and answered the call, hearing the annoyed voice on the other end, “What were you doing?”

“You’re monitoring ?” Abigail had only felt it earlier. Now, hearing Brandon Piers’s words, she instinctively looked around, feeling very annoyed.

Loving Brandon was one thing, but being controlled by him was another.

“I’m monitoring Jeffrey Foster.” Brandon Piers explained gloomily. He was in a bad mood since she had gone to see that damned man again.

Abigail quickened her pace towards the ladies’ room and lowered her voice, “Why are you watching Dean Foster?”

“Last ti, the person who leaked the information about my surgery was from his expert team, and then Oliver Piers t him.” Recalling this matter, Brandon Piers’s tone beca shadowed. If it weren’t for his family’s intervention, he would have died in Jeffrey Foster’s lab.

As old Mr. Beckham said, his fate had changed since then.

So Jeffrey Foster’s mistake almost cost him his life.

But Brandon was skeptical about whether it was truly a mistake.

Abigail’s voice trembled, “You suspect that Dean Foster cooperated with your third uncle?”

“Or he has so leverage against him.” Brandon leaned more towards this idea.

“Leverage?”

Abigail repeated softly, “What kind of leverage could Dean Foster have? His reputation is impeccable. You must have conducted a thorough investigation before choosing him for your surgery. How could such a significant error occur?”

“You’re wrong. Initially, the person who was supposed to perform my surgery wasn’t him but… sumrs Dr. Smith.”

Abigail stood in the September sun, feeling like a bucket of ice water had been poured over her, freezing her to the bone.
