Chapter 269: Chapter 269: Warmth in the Old House Late at Night

Ruby could not see Brandon Piers’s expression, but she could imagine the man’s arrogant deanor. For a mont, she could not think of how to thank him. “How about you say it, and I’ll choose?”

“Alright, then let’s save it for later.” Brandon raised his eyebrows happily.

Ruby suddenly felt she might have fallen into a trap but could not figure out what this man could possibly get from her. So, she generously agreed.

Brandon felt satisfied. He then realized he had been standing and chatting with the little chubby one for so long in the middle of the night. Shaking his head, he thought it must have been too boring recuperating recently.

He put away his phone, left the study, saw the scattered lights of the house late at night, and changed direction instead of heading back to the bedroom.

The night was deep. A faint orange light ca from the nursery.

...

The curtains were not fully drawn. He stood outside the window, looking inside.

The little one had already eaten but did not seem ready to sleep. Abigail held him, walking and rocking him in the room, singing an unknown lullaby. Through the glass, he could barely hear it, but it was very comforting.

Brandon quietly watched. The soft orange light was so close, close enough to feel its warmth through the glass.

And wrapped in that gentle light was his future wife and his son.

For the first ti, Brandon felt a sense of ho in this old house.

It was a warmth he had never experienced before.

For a mont, he even felt an impulse to push the door open and embrace the mother and son. But he quickly restrained himself, not daring to break the beauty of the mont.

It was not until the little one in Abigail’s arms fell asleep, the lullaby stopped abruptly, and the soft orange light dimd that Brandon ca to his senses. He reached out and lightly touched the sowhat cold window fra, collected his emotions, and returned to the bedroom.

Peach Blossom Cove.

Ruby Green had been in the private room for two hours, but Adam Piers had not looked at her once.

The recent continuous setbacks had already twisted Ruby’s mind slightly. She glanced from the corner of her eye at Charlotte Leigh, who was snuggling against Adam, and forced a very weak smile.

She could feel the disdain from the people around her.

Even in private, no one ever made such matters public.

But now, the hotel video and photos of her and Clark Stone were all over the internet. If she and Clark Stone were in a normal dating relationship, and she was his fiancée, these videos and photos would be nothing.

People would even condemn the person who released the video.

But the situation was different now. Since the last engagent, Clark Stone had a terrible reputation. The videos with Mona Wilde were not banned yet, and Ruby was Mona’s best friend. Now that this incident had occurred, people’s eyes naturally held nothing but disgust and disdain for Ruby.

Ruby herself was also clear about this, so she was increasingly determined, looking for an opportunity.

And it seed God favored her. At this mont, Charlotte said sothing that offended Adam.

The young and arrogant boy suddenly shouted, “Get out.”

Charlotte was so frightened that she knelt on the ground with a thud. The entire private room was so quiet that a pin drop could be heard. No one dared to touch Adam’s anger.

Ruby looked at Charlotte, who was paralyzed on the ground, softly begging for rcy. She suddenly picked up a glass of white wine. “Master Adam, I am Charlotte’s best friend. I do not know how Charlotte offended you. Please forgive her. I will drink this on her behalf.”

After speaking, Ruby raised her head and gulped down the large glass of white wine. The others were stunned, while Charlotte frowned tightly.

Adam looked at Ruby and snorted slovenly, “Who is this?”

Ruby clenched the hand hanging by her side. She thought to herself, her opportunity had co!
