Perhaps the engagent scene was too romantic, and Jacky Cheung’s song was too beautiful and emotional. When Abigail heard “The future days are beautiful only with you, dreams are a bit more real,” she couldn’t help but look at the man beside her.
She hadn’t expected that Brandon also happened to look over at her.
That untarnished, handso face could instantly draw one into a romantic atmosphere. Paired with the dreamy scene of the mont, Abigail’s heart raced uncontrollably. For a brief mont, she mistakenly believed this was her own engagent scene, and the man beside her was the one she admired and wanted to spend her life with.
Just then, Brandon gave her a slight, teasing smile. Abigail’s expression froze, her heart skipped a beat, and her steps faltered.
Amused by Abigail’s reaction, Brandon reached out and held her hand. That soft touch made Brandon’s mood even better. He glanced at the shocked guests seated around, and the smile on his lips grew wider.
Feeling his caressing in her palm, Abigail finally snapped back to reality. She couldn’t fathom what ga the man in front of her was playing now, yet she found that she didn’t actually mind his touch. Her skin itched, but when she t the expressions of Rose Taylor and Lincoln Green, she didn’t pull away.
Amidst the stunned or puzzled gazes of the others, Rose and Lincoln finally confird that they weren’t seeing things. Brandon Piers was indeed holding Abigail Green’s hand.
But why?
Rose couldn’t understand, and neither could Lincoln.
But more than Lincoln’s confusion, Rose’s bewildernt was tinged with deep fear.
She knew better than anyone that George Piers was actually Abigail’s child. Ruby could get engaged to the Piers because of this child. Now that Brandon was holding Abigail’s hand, did it an that the Piers had discovered the truth about the child’s mother?
The more Rose thought about it, the more her hands trembled. Even Lincoln, standing beside her, noticed and held her hand, thinking she was just purely angry and shocked, softly comforting her, “Rose, calm down first. I’ll go ask Elder Piers what’s going on!”
“I… oh, where is Ruby? Where has Ruby gone?” Rose snapped back to reality and only then rembered to ask where her daughter was.
Now it was Abigail Green walking down the red carpet with Brandon Piers. Where was her Ruby?
“I… I will contact her now.” Lincoln said and dialed Ruby’s number, but a chanical female voice reminded them the number was switched off.
As soon as Rose heard the voice, she couldn’t control herself anymore and abruptly stood up.
She was so furious and agitated that she even knocked over her chair in her panic, breaking the eerily quiet atmosphere of the engagent scene. All eyes turned to the isolated and standing Rose Taylor.
Sensing the inquisitive or contemptuous gazes around her, Rose clenched her fists tightly. She thought about how they had spent a large sum of money to get rid of that fat man today. But now, the money was spent, Abigail was not only alive, but she had even gotten Jackson captured. And now, she had replaced Ruby, walking down the engagent aisle with the Piers’ second son.
But where was Ruby?
Could that fat man have done sothing to her…
This thought made Rose’s face turn ashen. Looking at Abigail, her gaze was like that toward a sworn enemy. Her earlier expectations for this engagent ceremony and her high hopes for her daughter’s future now transford into imnse anger.
And mingled with that anger was fear and unease, causing Rose’s whole body to tremble slightly.
Abigail felt Rose’s gaze and turned to smile slightly.
The last string holding Rose’s composure suddenly snapped.
