Chapter 1073: Chapter 1073: Can I Trust You This Ti?

Bertha Swift was held in Adam Piers’ arms, her body extrely stiff. She could feel the scorching temperature from his body. If she didn’t know he was in good health, she would have worried he was running a fever.

“Relax a bit,” Adam whispered near Bertha’s ear, then held her tighter.

Bertha felt like she was about to suffocate, and couldn’t help but struggle, “Adam, I can’t breathe.”

“Oh.” Adam finally realized and slightly loosened his long arms around Bertha, though he had no intention of letting her go.

Once Bertha felt the return of oxygen, she took deep breaths and heard the man grumble near her ear, “I really want to squeeze you entirely into .”

The heat of his breath felt as hot as when it touched her skin. Bertha could feel the man behind her was trying to control himself, making her inexplicably happy. She leaned her neck back slightly, rubbing her head against Adam’s cheek to comfort him.

Adam felt his cheek itch from the rub, and he was imnsely fond of Bertha’s initiative in being intimate. His large hand mischievously caressed her, taking a long ti before finally calming down. He had thought he wouldn’t be able to sleep, but ended up breathing evenly before Bertha did.

Seeing Adam today, Bertha could tell he must have been very stressed out lately. Soone so vain and proud had dark circles under his eyes, clearly not having rested well since leaving the set.

“Good night…” Bertha murmured softly, turning her head to give Adam’s arm, which was propped under her neck, a light kiss.

In the morning, Bertha awoke in Adam’s embrace.

Last night, Bertha was clearly facing away from Adam, but when she woke up, she was nestled entirely in the man’s embrace, in a fully trusting posture.

She looked curiously at the face in front of her. Despite no significant changes in the past year, when she woke from his arms a year ago, her first action was to slap him.

Back then, the man was sound asleep, awakened by her slap, full of impatience and annoyance, as if he could strangle her with a single stretch of his long arm.

They used to find each other intolerable, but unexpectedly, it turned out like this.

Bertha could still rember lying in the hospital bed, semi-conscious under anesthesia, watching the doctor take away the child, and recalling his extre disappointnt when he rushed into the hospital room.

Her heart ached slightly as she reached out to gently caress the man’s face, unable to resist asking in her heart, “Can I trust you this ti?”

The mont her hand touched Adam’s lips, it was suddenly caught by his bite.

Bertha recoiled in shock, “When did you wake up?”

“When you were coveting my beauty,” Adam opened his eyes. Just awakened, the usual roguishness was gone, replaced by a hoarse laziness, though his innate unruliness made his words carry a teasing tone.

Bertha had never seen such a shaless person, “Your beauty? If that’s considered beauty, wouldn’t that make an actual fairy?”

She originally said this half-jokingly at the man’s expense, but Adam earnestly held her face, looking seriously before exclaiming, “So this is what a fairy really looks like.”

After saying that, his mischievous hand began to wander, adding, “Does a fairy have a C?”

Bertha was astounded, slapping away Adam’s hand, her slender finger pointing at his nose, “You… you uhm…”

Mid-point, her finger was caught in his mouth.

Then an itch was felt on the fingertip.

Bertha’s beautiful eyes widened as she saw Adam seriously suck on her fair finger. Her cheeks flushed and she abruptly pulled back, “You… pervert!”

Adam looked at the flustered and helpless woman, his lips curling into a slovenly smirk, “So that’s considered perverted? Who was it that said she’d help last night?”

Bertha wished she could bury herself under the covers in sha. Last night she really must have been bewitched by this man’s wiles, or she would never have said such idiotic things, involuntarily recalling the night at the bar when Oswald Lewis mistook her for a call girl and forced her upon Adam.

Seeing Bertha’s emotions intensifying, Adam quickly pulled her into his arms, “I was wrong.”

Bertha was startled by his apology, looking up confusedly at Adam.

Adam smoothly continued, “My girlfriend is right to scold . I shouldn’t be a pervert. From now on, I’ll read more books, read good books, and strive to beco a qualified successor to socialism.”

Bertha looked at Adam’s serious deanor, her previous bad mood replaced by a chuckle, “Is there such an old successor to socialism? Real successors are elentary school students.”

“Are you saying I’m old?” Adam seized upon Bertha’s words.

Bertha shook her head, “It’s not that bad, but indeed a bit older than .”

Adam ground his teeth, feeling she might as well have said nothing.

Although if Bertha hadn’t reminded him, he nearly forgot that the woman in his arms was only 22 this year, while he was already twenty-seven, five years older, making him practically an old man in her eyes.

“Although old, you’re still quite handso,” Bertha quickly added, seeing Adam grinding his teeth, with a strong survival instinct.

“An old man is not just handso, he’s also strong,” Adam replied, his eyes narrowing dangerously as he pulled Bertha tighter against him, letting her feel his strength, and threateningly said, “I’ll let you feel it next ti.”

Bertha was already scared stiff, urgently needing to leave this place of trouble, “Uh… I need to go quickly, my mom will be waking up soon.”

Saying that, Bertha abruptly pushed Adam away, hastily jumping out of bed and darting towards the door.

At the door, Bertha carefully opened it, stealthily checking to ensure no one was around, then sneaked back to her room. But just as she closed Adam’s door, the door opposite opened, and Zoe Thatcher erged, initially pausing upon seeing Bertha co out of Adam’s room in her pajamas, then snorted.

Recalling her attitude towards Adam and the things she’d said to Zoe before, Bertha felt a sense of irony. However, given the current situation, she could only offer Zoe an awkward yet polite smile, telling herself internally, “I’m not embarrassed, it’s others who should feel embarrassed.”

Zoe was furious, cursing this brazen woman. She used to believe her claim of not liking Adam, but it turns out no one was more of a sly fox!

But thinking of Adam’s indulgent deanor, Zoe could only redirect her anger into an appetite for hotel’s free breakfast.

Carefully, Bertha opened her bedroom door, planning to stealthily slip into the bathroom and pretend she woke up early to wash up. But what she didn’t expect was her fully dressed mother standing right there as she entered the room, making her freeze, awkwardly muttering, “Mom.”

Bess Sander looked at her daughter, finally setting her gaze on the visible red marks on Bertha’s collarbone, giving a fierce glare, “Go change your clothes, how inappropriate.”

Bertha detected the helplessness in her mother’s voice, knowing her mother’s gentle nature, this was probably the harshest scolding she could muster, so she blushed and went to change clothes.

Afterwards, she ca out and hugged her mother, clinging while cooing, “Mama, Mama…”

Bess Sander was overwheld by Bertha’s antics, muttering a low, “Shaless,” but said no more.

The celebration was arranged for noon. When Bertha and Adam went downstairs, Mary Scott and David Locke had just left as well, and the two won instantly let go of their n’s hands, squeezing together.

“Didn’t you say Adam wasn’t coming yesterday?” Mary was curious.

“I didn’t expect it either; didn’t you say you’d arrive this morning?” Bertha saw that Mary didn’t look like she had just arrived.

“Well… he communicated with our director and arranged for soone to pick up early.” Mary Scott said, her eyes filled with an undeniable sweetness.

“Director Locke’s care seems to be exclusively reserved for you.” Bertha Swift thought of David Locke, who was like a demon in the crew, and said with unlimited emotion.

Mary Scott hastily looked up at the handso man standing not far away, recalling how he pressed her against the hotel room’s dining table without even eating yesterday, she adjusted her sore waist, “He really is…” a pervert!

“He’s what?” Seeing Mary Scott stop halfway, Bertha Swift asked curiously.

Mary Scott shook her head, vaguely replying nothing, but due to their proximity, she accidentally glimpsed Bertha Swift’s cleavage, “You guys are… intense.”

Bertha Swift froze, glanced down following Mary Scott’s gaze, and her cheeks flushed, “It’s not what you think.”

Last night, after she finished speaking, Adam Piers nibbled and kissed her all over, but ultimately did nothing.

However, it was clear that explaining was useless now. Instead, Bertha Swift noticed Mary Scott covering her own chest after speaking, and imdiately thought of sothing, “You two are…”

“We’re nothing.” Mary Scott quickly shook her head earnestly.

Bertha Swift observed her obvious denial, pursed her lips, and chuckled softly.

The two n nearby glanced at them, confused as to why won could whisper so closely and occasionally glance at them.

They could sense the won were discussing them, yet couldn’t clearly hear, which was quite frustrating.

Moreover, Adam Piers noticed Mary Scott’s eyes sweeping towards Bertha Swift’s neckline, while David Locke noticed his woman pressing her chest, fearing being seen by others nearby. The two n exchanged a glance and at the mont the elevator doors opened, they unanimously pulled their won away.

Bertha Swift was pulled into Adam Piers’ embrace, hurriedly pushing away, “Did you forget our agreent?”

Adam Piers finally rembered, gritted his teeth, “I rember, we’re not supposed to go public.”

“Not until I’ve paid you back completely.” Bertha Swift corrected.

“Fine.” Adam Piers reluctantly let go, feeling a bit frustrated for giving up the opportunity to Mary Scott in the elevator.

anwhile, Mary Scott and David Locke were openly known as a couple, and while Adam Piers couldn’t hold Bertha Swift’s hand, David Locke unabashedly held Mary Scott’s shoulder. When Adam was pushed away, David smugly raised his brows.

Adam Piers felt displeased, looked at Bertha Swift with a sowhat aggrieved expression, but didn’t make any moves, yet stayed neither too far nor too close to her.

Bertha Swift just had to turn around to see him, a secret joy welled up in her heart, and she took out her phone to send him a cuddling emoji.

Adam Piers’ phone chid, initially ignored it, then saw Bertha Swift raising her phone, took it out to check, amusedly replied, “Is cuddling the best you can do?”

Bertha Swift didn’t expect such a cute emoji to be interpreted like that by Adam Piers, imdiately sent back a disdainful emoji.

Adam Piers found it amusing that a woman who previously maintained a cool persona was actually so childish, promptly downloaded a bunch of emojis to retaliate.

When the two arrived at the filming completion party, they were both still focused on their phones, looking to outsiders like they found each other irritating.

Only Zoe Thatcher humd lightly, pretending otherwise.

Stella Murray overheard her mutter, “What’s wrong, Zoe?”

“Nothing, just this lemonade makes my stomach sour.” Zoe Thatcher said, then took another big gulp, eting Stella’s puzzled gaze, she defiantly added, “But it replenishes vitamin C and whitens skin, I have to drink it even if it’s sour.”

Jas Jero next to them shook his head, “Young people, is whitening more important than health? Can’t comprehend.”

Stella Murray laughed aside, “Do you need to understand young people?”

Soon the two started bickering, making Zoe laugh wildly, forgetting to pay attention to the seemingly unrelated, yet almost inseparable couple nearby.

With David Locke and several lead actors in attendance, the completion party officially began.

David Locke specifically invited the dia for this. “The Doctors” had been riddled with scandals throughout filming, with journalists openly or covertly taking shots every now and then, but David Locke had never addressed them directly.

He had been waiting for the right opportunity, and the completion party was his chance.

At the party, David Locke formally announced the end of filming for “The Doctors” and addressed all previous rumors about the production, his candid deanor not only earned dia praise but also heightened audience anticipation for the film.

With the party’s end, it marked the farewell of people who had spent months together.

It was Bertha Swift’s first experience with such scenes, watching people leaving with their bags after the party, hearing people call out goodbye now and then, her heart followed suit with a sense of emptiness.

It felt like a movie had ended, but she hadn’t walked out of the story.

Until she felt warmth in her palm, looking sideways she t a face handso yet perpetually carrying so restlessness and slovenliness, the previous emptiness was suddenly filled, she lowered her gaze, smiling softly.

Bertha Swift didn’t know what “The Doctors” would bring her after its release, but it certainly wouldn’t compare to the man before her.

“Not worried about being noticed now?” Adam Piers teased the woman beside him.
