Chapter 1004: Chapter 1004: Rivals in Love et Again at the Script eting

Mary Scott is currently very popular, with everything she does attracting a lot of dia attention.

Mary Scott had just woken up this morning when she saw that the news of her and David Locke at the airport last night had been reported.

Because of the distance, the photos taken weren’t great, but that didn’t stop Reporter Erson’s rich imagination. They used all sorts of romantic words on her, turning a simple airport pickup into an emotional reunion like lovers after a brief separation.

However, due to her high popularity, netizens, perhaps feeling guilty for their previous misunderstandings about her, were particularly forgiving and full of praise. They almost hyped them up to be the most loving couple in the entertainnt industry.

After reading, Mary Scott couldn’t help but Tsukkomi. Had all of David Locke’s previous chaotic romantic history been eaten by dogs?

Mary was fine until she thought about those past relationships, then she couldn’t help but feel a bit sour and looked up at the man eating breakfast.

David Locke, suddenly being scrutinized by Mary Scott, felt puzzled, “Is there sothing on my face?”

“No,” Mary closed her phone, glanced at Mr. and Mrs. Locke beside her, and replied lightly.

Her answer didn’t ease David Locke’s confusion; instead, he furrowed his brow even more, feeling that sothing was odd about her gaze.

After breakfast, David Locke took Mary to a script eting.

Mary changed clothes and was about to say goodbye to the Lockes, but Mrs. Locke had also changed. Puzzled, she looked at David Locke.

David explained softly, “Mom is a scriptwriter, although she didn’t participate in the script for ‘The Doctors,’ she will act as a consultant to review it for .”

“I proposed this. Do you have any objections?” Mrs. Twain had a sowhat changed impression of Mary, but it wasn’t a complete trust, more like giving her son face.

However, giving face to David didn’t an she would completely put away her temper.

Mary didn’t mind Mrs. Twain’s attitude but was surprised that she was a screenwriter. She suddenly thought of sothing and turned to ask David Locke, “What’s Mom’s pen na?”

David raised an eyebrow. His little woman reacted quickly and smiled, answering, “Nighteve.”

Mary’s body suddenly went rigid, “What? Nighteve, Teacher Jiang? The scriptwriter of ‘The Universe,’ ‘Spring Banquet,’ ‘Twin Flowers’?”

David nodded.

Mary suddenly jumped up and grabbed Sidney Twain’s hand, “Mom, you’re Nighteve! Is this true? I’m your fan, and I love your works so much. I’ve watched every one of your works, especially ‘Twin Flowers.’ I’ve watched it ten tis. I love them so much!”

Mrs. Twain didn’t care when Mary first asked about her pen na, considering Mary was not very old and her scripted works’ audience was usually older. Moreover, no matter how famous a screenwriter is, they are only famous in small circles. She never expected Mary not only knew about her but was so excited. Seeing the young girl’s bright eyes, Mrs. Twain’s heart softened, suddenly understanding why her son fell for this girl.

With such a soft and adorable appearance, even she couldn’t maintain a cold heart. Her tone finally softened a bit, “What’s the big fuss about?”

“I’m just so excited. I always thought Teacher Jiang, with such a grand vision in their scripts, must be a man. But not only are they not, but they’re my mother-in-law, which is amazing and cool!” Mary sincerely admired Sidney Twain.

“Alright, I’ve accepted your flattery, let’s go.” Sidney Twain no longer made things difficult for Mary.

Mary was still a bit excited, obediently following Sidney Twain’s words without even bothering with David, just walking behind her like a little fangirl.

David couldn’t help but rub his forehead. Wasn’t this woman just trying to get Mom’s approval? Was it necessary to flatter her this much?

But the Mary in front wasn’t at all concerned. Even after getting in the car, she was a bit excited, turning to him, “With Teacher Jiang personally overseeing it, this drama is definitely going to be a hit. David, I think I’m really going to beco famous this ti!”

David chuckled, “With my direction, aren’t you already unafraid of not being a hit?”

“How can your directing compare to Teacher Jiang’s? Besides, your works are successful because they have good scripts! As long as it’s Teacher Jiang’s script, any director would make it a hit, right?” Mary was once obsessed with “Twin Flowers,” feeling she was the embodint of the sisters in the story and highly admired Nighteve’s other works, along with the person themself.

David was slightly annoyed by her words, “Weren’t the scripts for my previous works all my creations? Haven’t you seen them?”

“Really? But that’s also because of Teacher Jiang’s good genes!” Mary replied matter-of-factly.

David was speechless at this point. Good genes, huh? He, a renowned director, creating great works not because of his abilities, but because of good genes?

Taking a deep breath, David decided to curb his urge to educate Mary for the sake of good in-law relations at ho and accepted her statent.

Mrs. Twain almost burst out laughing earlier when she heard Mary say that her son’s abilities were due to inheriting from her. She had often said the sa thing over the years, but it was always dismissed by him. Now, seeing her son being teased like this, her heart felt a pleasant satisfaction, making her expression towards Mary softer.

Mary, however, wasn’t consciously trying to flatter Mrs. Twain, continuing to look at her with admiration and even started discussing her understanding of the characters in “The Doctors” with Mrs. Twain.

David sat in the car, listening to the enthusiastic discussion between the two won, for the first ti feeling so unnecessary.

Fortunately, they soon arrived at the place for the script eting.

It was a high-end private restaurant.

David originally had reservations about the location because the crew hadn’t officially started filming, and there were plenty of expenses. Saving wherever possible was the norm.

But he couldn’t out-argue capital.

So the location was set by Adam Piers, and naturally, the expenses were covered by Adam Piers.

David had no objection to that.

When they arrived, the other main creators also showed up one after another.

Mary’s first sight was Bertha Swift.

She was amazed, roughly understanding why a complete newcor without a single work or formal training ended up being the lead in “The Doctors.”

Having focused on studying the script, Mary imdiately grasped that Bertha Swift was indeed Evelyn Lynn!

There was an innate aura about those who studied dicine, a natural healer’s vibe that professional actors could not replicate.

It was just that Bertha looked very haggard, almost sickly, but it perfectly matched the early state of the female lead.

For the first ti, Mary couldn’t resist giving a thumbs up to David. This man’s taste was indeed impeccable, no wonder every film he directed was successful and even managed to make the Piers’ young master sparkle in his acting debut.

As for the male lead Brian Joule, Mary Scott probably didn’t see his potential as a domineering CEO while filming the variety show together twice, especially since his outfit made him look more like a handso neighbor boy. However, Mary Scott was aware of Brian Joule’s talent and had no doubt about his performance once filming started.

In addition to the male and female leads, there were other actors present with major roles. Mary Scott was most surprised to see Jas Jero and Stella Murray; they were participating too.

With this, only Adam Piers and Zoe Thatcher were needed to gather the original cast of “Detectives and Wilderness” in this crew!

After everyone took their seats, Mary Scott couldn’t help but sneak a glance at David Locke. She suspected he did this intentionally, a feeling of indescribable emotion filled her heart.

David Locke, however, seed unaware of Mary Scott’s gaze, introducing Mrs. Twain briefly, and the room instantly fell silent, everyone looked over in disbelief.

They clearly didn’t expect David Locke could invite Nighteve to consult as a screenplay advisor for “The Doctors.” Wouldn’t this imply the movie would be a hit?

Previously, because of reports related to David Locke, everyone had so concerns about “The Doctors” project, coupled with David Locke’s “The Geisha” being shelved with no schedule yet. Their attendance was partly due to faith in David Locke and partly due to the sentint of his invitation.

But what they didn’t expect was that not only did “The Doctors” last get additional investnt, but Nighteve was invited too.

The crowd felt as if they had been given a reassurance pill.

Especially Brian Joule, who initially hesitated about continuing to participate due to his existing fa and the anonymity of the female lead after hearing many negative rumors about Director Locke. However, upon his agent Shelley Van’s suggestion, he settled and didn’t withdraw, unexpectedly receiving such a huge surprise.

This ti, Brian Joule intended to vie for awards with “The Doctors.” With both David Locke and Nighteve involved, his confidence soared!

Because of David Locke’s introduction of Mrs. Twain, the atmosphere at the script eting was particularly lively.

This enthusiasm persisted until the script eting was about to start, when the male supporting lead and the female third lead hadn’t arrived yet.

David Locke rembered what Adam Piers said yesterday, “The male supporting lead is feeling under the weather and will miss all the upcoming script etings. Don’t worry, I’ll have an assistant stand in. As for the third female lead…”

ntioning the third female lead made David Locke frown as he looked at Ray Leighton, “Where is the third female lead?”

The assistant had already noticed the third female lead’s absence and was dialing a phone call. As David Locke was asking, the call connected, “Miss Thatcher, where are you? Are you at the location? What… blocked by reporters?”

Halfway through the inquiry, Martin Jonah furrowed his brows and looked at David Locke, “Director Locke, Miss Thatcher’s car is blocked by reporters in the garage, what should we do now?”

“Why such trouble for a newcor, why are reporters blocking her?” David Locke asked irritably. His casting standards had always been lax; as long as the leads felt right, the others depended on performance. But this didn’t an Locke was lenient; instead, he was even stricter. Any actor entering his crew had to perform, or they were out.

So joining his crew was easy, staying was hard.

Although he brought the entire batch from “Detectives and Wilderness” into the crew this ti, whether they could stay depended on their own capabilities.

And right now, he was particularly unconcerned with this late cor.

Martin Jonah leaned in and whispered after hearing David Locke’s words, “Didn’t you know? She’s the one rumored with Master Adam. According to the dia report this morning, she stayed overnight at Master Adam’s hospital and didn’t leave until after ten in the morning. Many speculate they’re… you know.”

David Locke took a deep look at Martin Jonah after hearing this, “I don’t know. Go find soone to fetch her. If she’s not here in ten minutes, tell her not to co.”

Compared to others, David Locke didn’t believe the rumor about Adam Piers with a young actress, especially since the woman who occupied Adam’s thoughts sat not far from him.

Others would just be cannon fodder!

Bertha Swift sitting at the table on the left felt Director Locke’s gaze on her, a hint of inexplicable doubt flashed in her eyes. She didn’t quite understand why Director Locke glanced at her while setting a ten-minute deadline for the third female lead to arrive or else not co.

But this confusion quickly resolved itself.

Seated not far from her, Jas Jero and Stella Murray began murmuring after hearing David Locke’s words. Stella Murray even made a call urging the other person to hurry over.

After hanging up, Stella Murray quietly whispered to Jas Jero, “Didn’t expect that girl to actually be with Adam Piers. But Adam’s family background is obviously not ordinary, he has a face that looks unfaithful and beckons to romance. After Zoe Thatcher follows him, she’ll likely suffer hardships.”

“Why worry so much? Let the young people fall in love, it’s such a wonderful thing.” Compared to Stella Murray, Jas Jero had a more open-minded view as a man.

Stella Murray clearly was dissatisfied upon hearing this, “n have no issues, but it’s different for girls. If they get hurt, who knows what will happen next. Won should find…”

Sitting behind them, Bertha Swift didn’t continue listening; she only understood one thing: Adam Piers was indeed involved with that Miss Thatcher, while she was the third female lead in “The Doctors.”

Though inwardly telling herself she had no connection with Adam Piers anymore, inexplicably hearing this kind of news made Bertha Swift feel uneasy, especially recalling the phone call from Adam Piers yesterday.

Although that man had been inquiring about her visit to West Mountain, he still ended up being with another woman—indeed, Stella Murray didn’t lie about one thing: Adam had a face that looked unfaithful.

Hehehe…

But what did it have to do with her!

Bertha Swift composed herself, bowed her head, and continued to read the script.

Then she was suddenly softly poked, she turned her head looking confused, only to find Mary Scott had sohow seated beside her. Facing Bertha’s bewildered expression, Mary quickly introduced herself, “I’m Mary Scott, playing Karen Smollet in ‘The Doctors.’ You’re so beautiful!”

Bertha Swift was startled by Mary’s opening line, instinctively reaching out her hand, “I’m Bertha Swift, playing Evelyn Lynn in ‘The Doctors.’ You’re very beautiful too.”

Mary Scott’s smile grew even more as she held Bertha Swift’s delicate hand, “I look forward to working with you.”

“I’m not sure I can advise; it’s my first ti acting, I don’t even know if I’ll manage to stay,” Bertha Swift replied apologetically. Despite cramming a lot in, she lacked experience. She could handle an operating table, but acting she couldn’t dare to guide others.

“No worries, we can practice. We have quite a few scenes together,” Mary Scott winked at Bertha Swift.

Bertha Swift, having previously read gossip and seen Mary Scott’s boldness at press conferences, felt the entertainnt news deceptive when faced with such a soft and cute person now!

Though her personality was generally slow to warm up, making it hard to match Mary Scott’s enthusiasm, her sincere attitude instead made Mary Scott like her even more.

While they began discussing the plot, the box door finally opened; it was Zoe Thatcher arriving late.

Bertha Swift instinctively looked up, as did Zoe Thatcher. Their eyes t in the air, with Bertha Swift looking away blandly, whereas Zoe Thatcher was extrely shocked — why was she here?
