Zhao Siyan fainted on the spot upon hearing the news of her daughter’s death.

After being resuscitated, her family hurried over.

Just having started first grade, Tang Jingming returned from school and crouched in the corner of his mother’s hospital room with a small backpack on his back, cradling a stuffed toy he had just bought for his little sister. Seeing Zhao Siyan wake up, he eagerly held out the pink dinosaur and exclaid, "Mom, you’re awake! I used my allowance to buy a toy for my sister. Look, do you think she’ll like it?"

She always loved pink the most.

Lately, she had been obsessed with Dinosaur Battle. She would surely be ecstatic to receive a little dinosaur toy.

Tang Jingming extended the toy, waiting for his mom’s praise, and also looking forward to his sister’s reaction upon receiving the gift.

However, Tang Jingming could never have anticipated that his usually gentle mother would break down in sobs the instant she saw the pink dinosaur.

Seven-year-old Tang Jingming was startled by his mother’s crying and, completely clueless about what had happened, beca bewildered – and soon started crying himself.

Tang Jingming was scared and didn’t understand why his mom suddenly burst into tears.

He wanted to stop his mom from crying; he stuffed the little dinosaur into her arms and climbed onto the bed to hug her with his tiny body.

Zhao Siyan felt her son’s embrace and cried even harder, holding tight to her only remaining child. She felt utterly alone, as if her once-perfect world had collapsed entirely in that mont.

anwhile, ten-year-old Tang Wu stood outside in silence, watching her sobbing aunt before turning to her mother and softly asking, "Mom, is it true that my sister isn’t coming back?"

Jian Yun’s eyes were red as she hugged her daughter and moved aside, whispering, "When your aunt stops crying, mom will go and comfort her. You take Xiao Ming and play to the side. If Xiao Ming asks where his sister went, just say... just say..."

Jian Yun, herself failing to hold back tears, covered her mouth and shook as she embraced Tang Wu.

Tears also fell from Tang Wu’s eyes as she gently patted her mother’s shoulder and softly said, "I understand."

She understood.

Old Sir Tang, who was now retired, arrived at the hospital with Elder Mrs. Tang, and they too were unable to accept the terrible news. The old couple stood at the entrance of the ward, not knowing what to do.

From a distance, ng Yue felt a heavy sense of dread watching the bustle on the Tang family’s side.

Next to her, Bai Zhengyuan was consoling his daughter, "It’s okay, baby, daddy is here, be good, don’t be scared."

Bai Yuejie, having narrowly escaped danger, looked weak and pitiable. She glanced around and quietly asked Bai Zhengyuan, "Dad, where is Tiantian?"

With a sigh, Bai Zhengyuan uttered, "Tiantian..."

Bai Yuejie burst into tears, "Tiantian was run over by a car, she can’t talk anymore, wha-wha..."

"What do you an!" ng Yue suddenly turned back, staring at her daughter on the hospital bed, "What are you talking about? Who got run over by a car, why would Tiantian be run over!"

ng Yue’s voice was raised, prompting Bai Zhengyuan to quickly respond, "Why are you shouting so loudly, you’re frightening your daughter!"

Bai Yuejie’s face was also full of panic as she said, "Mommy..."

ng Yue’s eyes were bloodshot as she demanded, "Tell , what exactly happened, how did you guys fall!"

As she spoke, her voice began to crack with sobs.

Bai Zhengyuan pulled ng Yue aside, "You’re scaring your daughter. The police are investigating this matter, aren’t they? Don’t worry, they’ll give us a satisfactory answer."
