Shi Lingyan couldn’t co out to entertain Bai Yuejie, and soon Grandma Shi returned.

She had Bai Yuejie stay for dinner, but Shi Lingyan hardly paid her any attention throughout.

Bai Yuejie served him so food, but Shi Lingyan didn’t touch it at all, claiming he was full after just a few bites.

Grandma Shi knew that Shi Lingyan wasn’t interested in Bai Yuejie and had never entertained that thought, so she treated Bai Yuejie rely as an acquaintance beyond her years.

However, sensing the awkward atmosphere now, Grandma Shi also felt a bit embarrassed.

Aunt Chen was observing from the side and, surprisingly, felt a sense of schadenfreude.

Her own Shi i was much better; whenever Shi i served Shi Lingyan food, he would eat it regardless of what it was.

Although Aunt Chen knew that Shi Lingyan treated Shi i rely as a child, it was different from how he treated others, and this pleased her heart.

After dinner, Bai Yuejie took her leave.

Grandma Shi didn’t ask her to stay but simply told her to be careful on the road as she showed her out.

Bai Yuejie returned to her car, where the new driver, seeing her preoccupied look, asked, "Miss, are you unhappy?"

Of course, Bai Yuejie wasn’t happy, but what did that have to do with him?

She glared at him and said, "To the company."

The new driver imdiately shut his mouth, and just then, a car passed by from the front.

Bai Yuejie caught sight of the young man seated in the driver’s seat.

Bao Gui wore a black suit with a dark purple shirt underneath, his already handso features seed to possess an ineffable sense of superiority.

Seeing him, Bai Yuejie suddenly rembered the last ti she saw him, and the words he said in the hospital: "I didn’t expect you to have such strong ntal resilience."

A sarcastic comnt at the ti was enough for Bai Yuejie to rember till now.

The new driver noticed Bai Yuejie fixedly watching Bao Gui and said, "Would you like to get out and say hello?"

"No need," Bai Yuejie’s eyes turned cold, "Let’s go."

Bao Gui was not a good person in the first place.

Why should she stoop to argue with a scoundrel?

The new driver didn’t dare say more and drove away.

Bao Gui likewise saw Bai Yuejie but had no desire to greet her and pretended not to see her.

After parking the car, Bao Gui rang the Shi Family’s doorbell.

After greeting Aunt Chen and Grandma Shi, Shi Lingyan ca out. Seeing Bao Gui, his previously stern face relaxed slightly as he said, "Co to the study."

Bao Gui had no objections.

Entering the study, he pulled out a stack of docunts and said, "You wouldn’t believe it, but that ’T Qing’ person, despite seeming dumb, is actually quite reliable."

Shi Lingyan bent his lips slightly and opened the docunts, casually asking, "What did you find?"

"Just the usual," Bao Gui sat down, "But I discovered sothing interesting."

"Oh?"

"There’s a detective in Yan City nad Gao Lian. He was in charge of the case when Shi i murdered soone. Later, she was acquitted, and his contributions were indispensable."

The study door was knocked, and Aunt Chen brought in two cups of tea.

"Isn’t that case resolved?" Shi Lingyan asked nonchalantly, without raising his head.

Bao Gui’s tone remained the sa as he raised an eyebrow leisurely, "Yes, indeed, it’s because everything was perfectly resolved that the girl must have developed so special feelings for the handso officer who saved her."

Shi Lingyan paused flipping through the docunts and looked up.

Seeing him finally take interest, Bao Gui gloated, "The ex-wife you can’t stop thinking about seems to have a new spring coming."
