Yuejie was taken aback when she caught Shi i’s gaze, feeling a mixture of surprise and an indescribable sense of familiarity.
She had already grown accustod to Shi i’s innocent, foolish deanor, soone who understood nothing. Although occasionally her careless words infuriated Yuejie, wasn’t it easier to manipulate a fool?
Now, seeing Shi i standing before her so lucidly, looking normal, Yuejie felt as if sothing was slipping quietly out of her control.
This feeling made her extrely uncomfortable.
Yuejie looked at Shi i and was about to speak when she suddenly heard Shi i say, "Please, have a seat."
Perhaps because she had just co to, Shi i’s voice carried a faint hoarseness, a stark contrast to the familiar fool she used to be.
Yuejie hesitated, then subconsciously sat down.
Uncle Liu, carrying a fruit basket behind them, also felt quite astonished upon hearing Shi i.
He set the fruit basket on the table and stood behind Yuejie.
Shi i looked sowhat listless and lancholic, her grayish eyes turning towards Uncle Liu as she softly spoke, "This is Uncle Liu, Sister Bai."
Relieved by the familiar term, Yuejie nodded and ventured, "Do you still rember us?"
"I do," Shi i’s voice was low, tinged with a bleak hoarseness, "You are Sister Bai, always so kind to . I’ve caused you trouble during this ti."
Yuejie felt a slight relief.
She knew before the incident Shi i had been a depressive with severe symptoms.
It appeared that her lucidity hadn’t much improved from before the incident.
That was easier to handle.
A lancholic depressive was much easier to control than a lucid, intelligent normal person.
Yuejie’s face lit up with surprise, "Don’t worry, Shi i, oh my, you’ve actually recovered, I’m so happy for you. Perhaps it’s a blessing in disguise."
Shi i internally scoffed at these words.
Yet, her face showed a bitter smile, "I didn’t want to recover at all. Being a fool felt quite nice, carefree every day, simple and happy."
"It’s better to be normal, life will get better," Yuejie gripped Shi i’s hand, her face tender and earnest, "I know you were unhappy before, that’s why you thought of ending your life, but now that you’ve recovered, and your first love has returned to the country, what are you planning to do?"
Shi i fell silent, then shook her head lightly.
Seeing her behavior, Yuejie’s vigilance and hostility further relaxed.
How could such a person, gloomy and introverted, charm people like the fool before?
Grandpa Shi and Grandma Shi liked lively company; the earlier fool had kept them joyously entertained, but this lancholic depressive might not be able to.
Yuejie felt even more reassured and carefully asked, "I heard the police have been here, the two bodies found at the Xiajiang Bridge, did you kill them?"
Pain and struggle crossed Shi i’s face, and after a few seconds, she clasped her head, looking in agony, and strained, "I don’t know, how could I possibly kill anyone? But when I woke up, I found that person on top of , I had to resist, but I didn’t know I killed, I can’t kill anyone, I could only think of killing myself, I wouldn’t kill anyone, Sister Bai, you must believe , I didn’t kill them..."
