"Knock, knock."
The door to the hospital room was knocked on. Shi Lingyan looked up and called out, "Please co in."
The door was quickly pushed open, and a well-grood middle-aged man stood at the entrance, smiling at him. His appearance was neat and tidy, ticulous.
"Mr. Shi," even his greeting was very gentlemanly, as he gave a slight nod.
"Uncle Liu," Shi Lingyan also smiled slightly, not at all surprised by his visit, "Co in."
Uncle Liu, however, wasn’t in a hurry to enter. He turned his head and called out, "Miss, Mr. Shi has invited us in."
Shi Lingyan had anticipated this and wasn’t surprised at all.
Soon after, Uncle Liu was followed by an exceptionally slender and frail figure.
Bai Yuejie was dressed in a pale yellow cashre coat today, with a snow-white long dress underneath. Her exquisite makeup made her look even more gorgeous and radiant, gentle and kind.
"Brother Ling Yan," when Bai Yuejie saw Shi Lingyan’s pale face, she clearly beca worried, "We haven’t seen each other for so long, and you have beco like this. Why don’t you take better care of yourself?"
The criticism in her words, coupled with barely concealed distress, was moving.
Bai Yuejie turned to receive the nutritional products Uncle Liu had brought over, along with the thermos in his hand.
Uncle Liu smiled and said, "Mr. Shi, this is the bone and bird’s nest porridge that our miss started making for you early this morning. It also contains red dates and other dicinal ingredients, which are very helpful for your wounds and can nourish the blood and yin."
Bai Yuejie was sowhat flustered, bowing her head slightly, "I rarely make these things. I tried for a long ti and thought the flavor was okay. Please, give it a try."
Shi Lingyan’s eyebrows furrowed deeper as he looked at her. Finally, he let out a deep sigh, "Yuejie, you don’t need to do this. Just take good care of yourself."
Bai Yuejie ignored his words and proceeded to ladle out a bowl of porridge for him. She blew on it before saying, "Please, have a taste."
Her eyes, gentle as if filled with the waters of autumn, looked at him hopefully, "I got up early to make it. No matter what, please eat a few bites, okay?"
Shi Lingyan didn’t move.
Uncle Liu reminded her, "Miss, Mr. Shi is injured. It’s inconvenient for him to move his wound."
Bai Yuejie, as if she had only just realized, beca even more bashful, "Then I..."
"Give it to ," Shi Lingyan reached out his hand, "I can do it myself."
Only then did Bai Yuejie pass it over, before saying, "You really should be more careful. How could you have been so careless as to just get stabbed? That Senior Sister hasn’t even shown up to thank you for saving her life; it’s like saving a white-eyed wolf."
Shi Lingyan pursed his lips and looked up to see Bai Yuejie’s visibly displeased face, "Do you know where she is?"
"I don’t know," Bai Yuejie shook her head, "That Senior Sister is very mysterious, it’s always been difficult to find out anything about her. But to attract an enemy to a filming site and kill... I guess, does she have a complicated background?"
Bai Yuejie looked at Shi Lingyan with a worried expression, "You don’t know either?"
Shi Lingyan shook his head, his gaze deepening as he looked at Bai Yuejie, "As far as I know, the filming this ti was supposed to be secret. Even if there was an enemy looking for the Senior Sister to seek revenge, how could they find her location so precisely? And, also by such coincidence, she happened to be alone, giving the enemy a chance?"
Bai Yuejie’s heart skipped a beat, though her brow furrowed even more deeply, "This is what I find strange too. Could it be that there’s an inside informant in the crew?"
