Adrienne t Alistair’s people at their agreed-upon eting place with her bodyguards. Irina wasn’t willing to leave Adrienne and hand her over to these people, but she couldn’t do anything to change Adrienne’s mind. They knew why Adrienne was eting Alistair Han, but that didn’t an they agreed with her decision.

Adrienne gave Irina a aningful look, reminding her of her order to look after Noah and Scarlett while she was gone. She also asked them to keep it a secret from her mother, as she didn’t want to make her and her grandparents worry. Her brother should have briefed her Uncle Reese and been aware of their plan.

The rain had finally ceased that night, and Adrienne knew her husband was looking at her from one of the cars that escorted her to the eting place. She could feel his gaze intensely, filled with concern.

"Please get inside, Miss Jiang." One of Alistair’s n opened the door to the backseat of the car for her.

Adrienne looked at her companions before stepping into the car and closing the door behind her. She tried to stay calm as they drove away, but her concern lingered in her mind. Myrtle was unaware of what she’d done but wished her best friend wouldn’t bla herself.

They drove through Chiangshi City until they arrived in Jinling in an hour. Adrienne expected them to bring her to Alistair’s mansion, but they continued driving on unfamiliar roads until they reached a private villa Adrienne had never seen before.

The driver pulled up before the villa and stopped. He glanced at Adrienne in the dashboard mirror and gestured for her to leave the car. Adrienne hesitated, unsure of what awaited her inside the villa.

She alighted from the car and gazed up at the villa in front of her. It was a magnificent sight, with its towering columns and grand entrance. However, no matter how beautiful the place was, it concealed the monster within.

A familiar face ca into view. Soone Adrienne hadn’t seen for a long ti. It was Alistair Han’s personal assistant. If there were soone who knew the true nature of the monster within the villa, it would be him.

"Miss Jiang, please follow ." He greeted her with a smile.

Adrienne kept her expression neutral, but her heart pounded in her chest. She followed the assistant into the villa, the doors closing behind her with a resounding thud. The grandeur of the interior was overwhelming, with opulent decor and expensive artwork adorning the walls. Every step she took echoed in the vast space, filling her unease.

Adrienne couldn’t shake off the feeling that she was being watched as they walked through the lavish hallways. The hairs on her neck stood on end, and a chill ran down her spine. It was the sa feeling she had when she used to be Alistair’s wife in her previous life. She was constantly under surveillance. She couldn’t help but wonder what awaited her in this luxurious prison.

The assistant led Adrienne to a room at the end of a long corridor. Finally, they arrived at a set of ornately carved double doors. The assistant paused and turned to face Adrienne, his eyes filled with sympathy and caution.

"Miss Jiang, please understand that once you step through these doors, there may be no turning back," he said softly, his voice laced with an undercurrent of warning.

"You think I didn’t know that before coming here?"

She had co too far to let fear consu her now. With a silent nod, she steeled herself and pushed open the doors.

The door creaked open, revealing a dimly lit chamber. Adrienne’s heart skipped a beat as she stepped inside and caught sight of Alistair Han standing by a tall window, his silhouette frad by moonlight. She knew that this eting with Alistair Han had significant consequences for herself and everyone she cared about.

"Adrienne," he said softly, turning to face her. "I’m glad you ca." His voice held an underlying tone of lancholy mixed with sothing else she couldn’t quite define.

Adrienne searched his face for any hint of emotion but found only an inscrutable mask. She tried to steady herself, reminding herself why she had agreed to this eting in the first place.

"What is it that you want from ?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady.

"You know what I want, Adrienne. There’s no need to make things complicated. If you want to protect your loved ones, you will do as I say." Alistair spoke with a chilling conviction that sent shivers down Adrienne’s spine.

"You are out of your mind, Mr. Han. What makes you think I would leave my husband?" Adrienne sneered at him.

Alistair’s lips curled into a wicked smile, the sa smile that made Adrienne shiver under his gaze.

"Are you sure you want Lennox Qin to suffer the brunt of your actions?"

Adrienne’s blood ran cold at Alistair’s words. Lennox Qin, her beloved husband, the man who had shown her kindness and love unlike anything she had ever experienced before.

"What do you an?" Adrienne demanded, her voice trembling with fear and anger. "What have you done?"

Alistair took a step closer, his eyes burning with an intensity that made Adrienne feel like she was being drawn into a vortex of darkness.

"You see, my dear Adrienne, I have ways of discovering things. Secrets tend to reveal themselves when one knows where to look. Do you think your husband is as innocent as you believe? Trust , there are skeletons in his closet that even you are unaware of."

Adrienne’s breath caught in her throat at the ntion of Lennox’s na. Alistair knew how to strike at her vulnerabilities, using her love for Lennox as a weapon against her. She clenched her fists, trying to suppress the surge of anger that threatened to consu her.

"But why would you target Lennox instead of ?" she finally managed to ask, her voice choked with emotion.

Alistair’s smile grew wider, filled with malevolence. "Because he stands in my way, Adrienne. He stands between and what I desire most in this world."

Adrienne’s eyes widened in realization. Before her lay the twisted truth that had always lingered beneath the surface—Alistair’s obsession with power and control. She had been foolish to think their past could be left behind and forgotten.

"No," she whispered, shaking her head in disbelief. "You can’t do this."

"Oh, but I can," Alistair replied, his voice dripping with malice. "I have my ways of making his life difficult."
