Adrienne was in the middle of a call when Myrtle worriedly knocked on her office door. Adrienne ended the call with a few words before focusing on Myrtle.

"What’s wrong, Myrtle? Did sothing happen?" She asked with concern in her voice.

"There are detectives outside, Addie. They said they wanted to have a word with you." Myrtle bit her lip. "What is it about this ti?"

Adrienne shook her head. She also had no idea why the detectives were there. She wondered if they were seeking her out about her father.

"Let them in," she told Myrtle. "We can’t let them wait for too long."

Myrtle moved imdiately and opened the door, allowing the detectives to enter Adrienne’s office. One was a woman in her early forties, while the other was a man who appeared to be in his late twenties.

"Good afternoon, officers. May I help you with sothing?" Adrienne asked before asking Myrtle politely to bring so refreshnts for their guests.

"Have you received the news about your sister, Miss Jiang?" The lady detective asked.

Adrienne raised a slender brow.

"My sister?" She repeated, and then it dawned on her that they were probably talking about Elise. "What about Elise? Is she in trouble, officers?"

The two detectives glanced at each other before one spoke up and said, "Miss Jiang, we ca to investigate and asked you if you’ve been in touch with Elise Jiang. We need to find out more details about the incident, as another woman ran over her this morning. She passed away just an hour ago."

The shocking news rendered Adrienne speechless, making it difficult to process what she had just heard.

She sat behind her desk and held her head in one hand.

"I’m sorry for being the bearer of the bad news, Miss Jiang. We assud you’d already heard about the incident." The lady detective said.

"Sorry, officers. I had a eting that started at eight and ended at two this afternoon. I have no idea..." She paused and took a deep breath. "As you probably know, Elise and I aren’t on good terms. I haven’t seen her for a long ti. The last ti I knew, she was working in Elysian. May I know who the woman is? Is it an accident?"

"We think it is a cri of passion, Miss Jiang." The male detective answered this ti. "Your sister was frequently spotted with a man who seed infatuated with her. The woman who ran over her this morning is that man’s wife.

Adrienne’s eyes slightly widened as she listened to the detectives’ explanation. A cri of passion? Elise was entangled in a dangerous love affair that ultimately led to her tragic accident. It was difficult for Adrienne to process the information; her mind raced with a whirlwind of emotions.

"I had no idea," she murmured, her voice trembling. "I always knew Elise had a reckless streak, but I never imagined it would lead to sothing like this."

The lady detective nodded sympathetically. "We understand that you and your sister had differences, Miss Jiang. But we need any information you can provide to help us understand what happened."

Adrienne took a mont to steady herself, steeling her nerves before responding.

"I’ll do whatever I can to assist you in your investigation," she said resolutely. "Though Elise and I were estranged, she’s still my sister. I want justice for her. However, since we hadn’t seen or talked to each other for months, I had no idea who she was dating. I suppose you can ask our cousin, Sierra, instead. She and Elise were close and might have so insight into her love life."

"Thank you, Miss Jiang," the male detective said sincerely. "We appreciate your willingness to help, but have you heard anything about your father or his whereabouts? His neighbors said they hadn’t seen him in weeks."

"My father and I stopped communicating with each other. I haven’t heard anything from him since he was freed from prison. Are there any specific reasons why his neighbors haven’t seen him?" Adrienne asked in return. She had a feeling that her husband had a part in his father’s disappearance, but she couldn’t be certain.

"That’s what we also want to know, Miss Jiang. You know the Zhao family also filed several charges against him, and he was expecting to appear in court next week." The male detective said.

"I see. Please continue your investigation and let know if you find any new information," Adrienne replied. "I hope we can find so answers soon. May I see my sister for the last ti?"

"Sure. We can arrange that for you, Miss Jiang, but I warn you, it isn’t a pretty sight." The lady detective warned her.

Adrienne thanked her and inford them she would give Elise one final visit before making any decisions. Since her father wasn’t around to hold a funeral for Elise, Adrienne would be covering the expenses.

And with that, the detectives left Purple Cloud without touching the refreshnts Myrtle brought for them.

"What is it about, Addie?" Myrtle asked once she closed the door of Adrienne’s office. "Are you in so sort of trouble?"

Adrienne shook her head. "It’s Elise, Myrtle. Elise is dead."

Myrtle gasped in shock, unable to comprehend the news.

"What happened? Did she have an accident?" She asked curiously.

Myrtle never thought Elise would pass away this early. It hadn’t been long since Camilla and Ayla died, and now Elise was gone too. Myrtle thought that the Jiang family had been having misfortunes recently. Even Adrienne wasn’t spared from it.

"It wasn’t an accident," Adrienne answered. "The detectives said the woman who ran over Elise was the wife of the man Elise was involved with. It seems Elise was involved in a dangerous love affair that led to her untily demise. Now, the detectives want to know more about Elise’s love life. If I have any information that could help them with their investigation," Adrienne continued, her voice laced with determination. "I’ve told them they should speak to our cousin Sierra since she was close to Elise. Perhaps she can shed so light on who this man was."

Myrtle sat and clasped her hands together.

"You don’t think your father would bla you again for this?" She asked Adrienne worriedly.
