Ayla eventually suffered a miscarriage that night, and the news spread like wildfire, reaching every corner of the tropolitan cities within hours. The issue of Adrienne being responsible for Ayla’s miscarriage also spread. So believed Adrienne was so jealous of Ayla’s beauty and success that she couldn’t bear to see her in the spotlight, while others wondered how Adrienne always caught up with issues raised by the Jiang family despite keeping her distance from them.
When Alistair received the news, he imdiately left his office at Han Corporation to see his wife. No matter if he disapproved of her being his wife, he knew for certain that the child she was bearing was crucial for their family.
When he arrived at the hospital, Ayla was a crying ss in her mother’s arms. Alistair looked at Maryam and gave her a curt nod before glancing at his wife. He and Ayla might not be on speaking terms since their wedding, but he needs to uphold his responsibility as her husband.
Wife. The thought of Ayla being his wife and not Adrienne left a bitter taste in his mouth. Alistair felt it wasn’t right, and the re thought of Adrienne being in Lennox’s arms was enough to make his blood boil in fury. It was as if the world had turned upside down. The woman who should be by his side was supposed to be Adrienne, but instead, he found himself married to Ayla. He couldn’t help but wonder how things had gone so wrong.
Ayla t his apathetic gaze and burst into tears again. She had tried hard to make their marriage work, but Alistair’s constant longing for Adrienne had taken a toll on her. It had been the first ti Alistair willingly ca to her, and she was certain he bothered to co to hear what happened to her unborn child.
"It’s gone now. Are you happy? Isn’t this what you wanted?" Ayla cried out, her voice filled with bitterness and resentnt. "You only married because of the child, but now it’s gone. But do you know why I lost it? It’s because of Addie!"
Alistair’s expression darkened. It was hard for him to believe that Ayla suffered a miscarriage because of Adrienne. He had never suspected Adrienne could be responsible for such a tragedy. Alistair’s mind raced, trying to understand the situation and why Ayla would bla Adrienne for the loss of their child.
"Are you sure about this? Or are you trying to hide sothing from ?" Alistair’s eyes narrowed on his wife. It didn’t make sense to him why Adrienne would hate Ayla, considering she avoided him like a plague and wanted nothing to do with him.
Ayla’s expression slightly faltered, which wasn’t lost on Alistair. Even Maryam looked nervous as she held onto her daughter’s hand.
"I wish I could say I was mistaken, but I saw it with my own eyes," she replied, her voice trembling. "She pushed , Alistair. Addie killed our child! Didn’t you hear what happened to the second family of her father? Addie destroyed them! Addie hates the entire Jiang family and wouldn’t stop until she had taken everything from us." Ayla’s voice cracked with emotion as she spoke, her eyes filled with a mixture of fear and anger.
Alistair’s mind was racing. He couldn’t process what he was hearing. Adrienne, the woman he had been pining after for years, was capable of such heinous acts? It didn’t seem possible. But then again, he had always known there was sothing dark lurking beneath her surface.
He had heard rumors that Lewis’s family had recently suffered a massive blow and that the Jiang Corporation was now in shambles. However, he never imagined that Adrienne could be responsible for sothing like that. He had always known that Adrienne had animosity towards the Jiang family and refused to submit to them.
"What are you saying?" Alistair asked, his voice low and dangerous. "That she intentionally caused your miscarriage? How could you even think of such a thing?"
"It’s true!" Ayla exclaid, her voice rising with each word. "She pushed , and I fell down. I know she did it on purpose!"
"I don’t believe you," Alistair said, his voice low and nacing. "Adrienne might be many things, but she isn’t a murderer. You are just trying to pin the bla on her and turn against her."
Ayla looked at him in disbelief. She couldn’t believe that her husband would rather trust Adrienne than her, his wife!
"How can you be so blind, Alistair?" Ayla cried out, her voice filled with desperation. "Can’t you see that Adrienne is a danger to our family? She will stop at nothing until she destroys us all."
Alistair looked at his wife with a mixture of pity and disdain. He had always known that Ayla was a manipulative woman, but he never imagined that she would stoop so low as to accuse Adrienne of sothing so heinous. He knew it was a ploy to turn him against his love, and he refused to accept it.
"You’re lying," Alistair said, his voice cold and hard. "I won’t let you use our child’s death as a weapon against Adrienne. She had nothing to do with it, and you know it. If you cared about our child, you wouldn’t be using its death for selfish gains."
Ayla looked at him with tears in her eyes. On the other hand, Maryam looked worried, as if she could see that this situation would only get worse.
"You need to be careful what you say and do, or you might end up causing irreparable damage to your reputation and to our Han family," Alistair warned Ayla.
Ayla looked at him in shock, as if she had never expected him to say those words. On the other hand, Maryam looked relieved, as if she had been waiting for this mont for a long ti. She disagreed with her daughter’s plan to bear this bastard child but failed to dissuade Ayla from taking such drastic action. She could only hope Ayla would listen to her husband’s warning and not complicate things further.
Accusing Adrienne of her miscarriage was a ssy fight Maryam wasn’t sure her daughter could win. Adrienne had beco unpredictable for the past three years, and now that she was married to Lennox Qin, Maryam feared what could happen to Ayla in the end.
"You can’t do this to , Alistair. I am your wife, and you have a responsibility towards ," Ayla said, her voice shaking with emotion. "You would rather side with Adrienne than believe your wife? You are unbelievable!"
"I have fulfilled my responsibilities towards you, Ayla. I gave you my na and my protection, but that’s all. I never loved you, and I never will," Alistair said, his voice cold and distant.
Ayla looked at him with tears in her eyes as if she had been struck by a sudden realization. She had always known that Alistair did not love her, but she had hoped that he would co to love her eventually. However, it seed that her hopes were in vain.
With that, Alistair turned on his heel and walked out of the hospital room, leaving Ayla and Maryam behind. As he walked out into the cool night air, he couldn’t help but think about what Ayla had said. Could Adrienne really be capable of sothing like this?
He decided to wait for Adrienne’s response to the accusation and see how she would react. He needed to know the truth before making any hasty decisions. But deep down, he knew he would do anything for Adrienne, even if it ant going against his own family.
However, Ayla’s accusations had made him question everything he thought he knew about Adrienne. The more he thought about it, the more he realized he didn’t care. He wanted Adrienne, and he would have her by his side no matter what.
anwhile, Ayla collapsed into her mother’s embrace, her sobs filling the room. Maryam sat by her daughter’s side, trying to comfort her in any way she could. Her daughter was exceptionally beautiful and talented, yet it wasn’t enough to attract Alistair Han’s attention. It seed to Maryam that Alistair was under a spell that he could only see and was obsessed with Adrienne despite her marriage to another man.
"Mother, what have I done?" Ayla cried out, her voice filled with despair. "I might lose everything. My child, my husband, and even my reputation is at stake."
Maryam looked at her daughter with a mixture of sadness and regret. She warned Ayla against pursuing this path, but she refused to listen. Now, they were both paying the price for her mistakes.
"I told you this would happen," Maryam said, her voice filled with resignation. "You can’t force a man to love you, especially not soone like Alistair. He has always been in love with Adrienne, and he always will be. You need to accept that and move on with your life."
Ayla looked up at her mother, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"No, Mom. Alistair must see that I deserve to be with him, not Addie. I’m his wife! What else must I do for him to see ?" she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
She had to find another way to win Alistair’s love and attention, but she didn’t know how. She had given him everything, but it wasn’t enough. She knew that she had to co up with a new plan—sothing that would make Alistair see her in a different light and make him forget Adrienne once and for all.
