Lennox then understood why Adrienne was a bit overprotective of Myrtle and would even go as far as dropping her ho herself to make sure Myrtle wouldn’t encounter trouble on her way ho.

"Myrtle managed to flee from her mother’s watch and disappeared for a long ti. When we found her, Myrtle was already around with a child in her womb, but no father was in sight. However, Myrtle’s body had already deteriorated and reached its limit. Myrtle could have had a chance to get clean and survive had she not fallen pregnant, but the resident doctor told Myrtle insisted on keeping the child and giving birth to it. "

"We found her when she was in labor, and despite the doctors’ efforts, Myrtle passed away after giving birth to her son. Aunt Stella was too broken and couldn’t look after or take care of Dylan. Dylan was technically my nephew by marriage, and I begged Alistair to allow to raise the boy. He’s the only one I left behind. By then, I was suffering from infertility, causing issues and pressure from the Han family. My relationship with Alistair Han had strained, and we started having disagreents because of his extre jealousy and possessiveness. On the one hand, his family was hounding for being a barren woman, while he drove insane with his constant need for control and his irrational jealousy towards any man who even looked in my direction. Despite all this, I still loved Dylan as if he were my child and knew I had to protect him.

Adrienne couldn’t stop her tears now as she rembered her young nephew. Dylan was a sweet child. He had his mother’s smile, and Adrienne reminded so much of Myrtle. There are many things that ti cannot heal, and the loss of a loved one is one of them. Myrtle’s passing left a void in Adrienne’s heart that would never be filled.

"My mother remained in a coma for a few years after that. My marriage with Alistair started to fall apart; the dream-like feeling during our earliest days as a married couple had beco a distant mory. We fought a lot, and whenever he was dissatisfied with , Alistair would confine in a small place where I could only see gray walls for many days. Alistair refused to let out and cut off my communication with the outside world. He kept confined at that place as if I were his prisoner. He would only allow to leave that place once I admitted my mistake and told him he was right. It was hard because of his domineering and controlling nature; I began to lose my sense of self and question my worth. The isolation and confinent took a toll on my ntal and emotional well-being, leaving feeling trapped and powerless in my own life. "

When Adrienne thought of what kind of life she had with Alistair, she only thought of how miserable and empty she was. Every day felt like a constant battle to please him and avoid his anger. Adrienne longed for freedom and happiness but couldn’t see a way out of the toxic cycle she found herself trapped in.

Lennox stared at his wife with complex emotions as he listened to her words.

"Eventually, my mother passed away in her sleep, and Alistair never told about it until it was too late. Mom’s remains were already buried when he told , and I never had a chance to look at her or say goodbye. It was just another cruel act from Alistair, adding to the emotional pain he had inflicted on . I lost her mother without even being able to properly mourn her. Alistair then turned his attention to Dylan, feeling resentnt for him. Because of Myrtle’s poor condition during pregnancy, Dylan was also born with a weak body and constitution. He needed constant dical attention and care, which only added to the burden on my already overwheld shoulders. Alistair seed to view Dylan’s condition as a personal affront, blaming him for the difficulties we faced. Instead of offering support or understanding, he directed his anger toward a vulnerable child, further deepening our rift. It was heartbreaking to witness the pain Dylan endured, both physically and emotionally, while Alistair remained oblivious to the toll it took on us."

"Was he jealous of Dylan too?" Lennox couldn’t help but ask. He understood the feeling when he had to constantly fight to get his wife’s attention with his siblings, but he couldn’t imagine Alistair feeling the sa thing about a weak and vulnerable child.

Adrienne nodded. "Alistair blad Dylan for our failing marriage. He claid I spent more ti with the bastard child of his sister than focusing on having a child with him, but what can I do, Len? I’m scared of my own husband. Alistair would occasionally force himself on whenever we had disagreents, and being intimate with him felt painful on my part. I couldn’t bear the thought of bringing a child into such a toxic environnt. It was clear that Alistair’s anger and resentnt were only growing, and I feared for the safety and well-being of any child we might have."

Adrienne thought she was lucky that she never had a child with Alistair Han in her previous life. She couldn’t imagine the emotional and physical toll it would have on her and the child. The thought of subjecting an innocent life to the toxic environnt she endured was unbearable.

"I didn’t even know of Hunter’s existence back then, nor did I know I had a missing older brother, Len." Adrienne sighed, blinking her tears away. "The Jiang family continued to rise until Camilla was unstoppable. When it seed like I had lost the will to live, Camilla, along with Cayden and Elise, ca to the Han mansion and abducted . On a snowy day, Len, Dylan, and I lost our lives in a car wreckage. There was no way for us to escape because the fire had consud our bodies."
