"You are lying," Cayden said with gritted teeth. His voice trembled angrily as he stared intently at the person before him. The accusation hung heavy in the air, leaving a tense silence between them.
How could a re bodyguard like Hunter Nian be the firstborn son of their father? Of course, Cayden knew about Louis Jiang, the firstborn son of Rosemary Zhao, but Hunter being the firstborn was simply inconceivable.
The thought of his father favoring soone else over him ignited a burning rage within Cayden. Louis Jiang should have been long dead, so how co Adrienne claid he was alive, and it was none other than the bodyguard next to her?
Adrienne ignored him and sat on the leather couch across their father’s desk. However, Hunter joined her this ti and sat beside her with an imposing aura. The brother and sister looked dashing in their black suits, each exuding an air of confidence and power.
"Sgt. Nian, how could they deny your familia ties to us? Thankfully, the DNA test between you and Mom proved we are related."
anwhile, Lewis’s mind went blank, and it took him a mont to process the news his defiant daughter just uttered. He looked at Hunter and was taken aback when he t his dark, cold look. It was a look he’d seen from Adrienne, but from Hunter, it felt bone-chilling.
Lewis’s heart sank as he realized his son had adopted the sa icy deanor as his daughter. The realization sent a shiver down his spine, leaving him uncertain of what to say or do next. The tension in the room was palpable, and Lewis couldn’t help but wonder how this could have happened.
He rembered allowing Camilla to dispose of the child Rosemary gave birth to that day according to their plan. She assured him that the child was already dealt with and he had no need to worry about it. Lewis didn’t think about his firstborn son and threw it in the back of his mind, assuming he was already dead and wouldn’t be able to spoil their plans in the future.
However, looking at Hunter Nian, he knew Camilla had ssed up their plans. Lewis looked at his daughter, a bile of anger rising in his throat. He couldn’t believe that Camilla had lied to him about disposing of the child all those years ago. Lewis realized that their secret was no longer safe and that they would have to face the consequences of their actions.
"How sure are you that this man is your older brother?" He asked Adrienne, trying to plant a seed of doubt in her and weaken her claims.
Adrienne knew what her father was thinking at that mont. She t his gaze head-on and smirked.
"The grave you and Aunt Camilla prepared was empty. Uncle Reese was the one who tracked him down and found out about his identity." She paused and gave their father a chilling look. "His adopted mother turned out to be Aunt Camilla’s college schoolmate. Eleanor Nian was killed eight years ago in a break-in by a psychopath the sa day Hunter was about to return from the military academy. Don’t you think it’s such a coincidence, Mr. Jiang?"
The atmosphere within Lewis’s office beca tense as Adrienne’s words hung in the air. The weight of her revelation seed to press down on everyone in the room. Adrienne’s father, Lewis, struggled to maintain his composure, his face turning pale. The implications of her words began to sink in, casting doubt on his previous beliefs and leaving him speechless.
"Kidnapping and attempted murder? My, my, Mr. Jiang. Your wife surely was so brazen to commit such heinous acts." Adrienne crossed her legs, her expression calm yet venomous.
Cayden watched the scene unfold before him, his mind racing with the implications of what was being revealed. He had always known that sothing was off about their family, but he never thought it would turn out like this.
Hunter’s eyes remained fixed on Lewis as he spoke up. "Don’t forget, Mr. Jiang, that you were also involved. You can’t escape the consequences of your actions."
Cayden watched as his sister and the bodyguard spoke with such conviction. Deep down, he knew their claims had rit, but he couldn’t accept them. The truth was too hard to bear. He had spent his entire life trying to impress his father, and now he found out he had a brother who could take everything from him. It was a crushing blow to his ego.
"You have no right to talk about my mother like that," Cayden finally said, his voice hoarse with disbelief. "Stop making up things, Addie!"
Adrienne gave him a sharp look. She didn’t want anyone to invalidate her older brother’s pain and suffering because of their cheating father.
"I’m not making anything up," Adrienne retorted, her voice sharp. "You can believe what you want, but Hunter is our brother, and we have proof."
Cayden shook his head, unwilling to believe his father had lied to him for so long. "I refuse to believe it. This is just a ploy to take everything from ."
Adrienne rolled her eyes and burst into laughter, effectively shutting Cayden down. He looked like soone who accidentally swallowed a fly, his face twisted in anger.
"Everything from you? Is there sothing worth taking from you, Cayden? You are being ridiculous right now. Do you think everything revolves around you?" She said mockingly, but her eyes were dangerously serious.
Once she was done with Cayden, Adrienne returned her attention to their father.
"What do you have to say to this, Mr. Jiang?" Adrienne’s voice dripped with disdain as she awaited her father’s response. Her arms were crossed, and her body language exuded defiance. She was determined to hold him accountable for his actions and wouldn’t back down easily.
Lewis couldn’t say a single word. So many thoughts filled his mind, but his guilt and sha made him speechless. The silence in the room grew heavy, amplifying the tension between them. As Adrienne continued to stare at him, her eyes piercing into his soul, Lewis knew that his daughter had the upper hand against him.
"I know why you summoned here, Mr. Jiang." Adrienne continued when their father remained silent. "You want to pressure to vote for you to keep your position as the CEO, right? But Mr. Jiang, how could you pressure when you have nothing to use against ?"
Lewis was stunned as if he only realized that re provocation and pressuring his daughter were impossible from the beginning. Adrienne had co prepared and had already predicted his intentions. Her eyes told him she wouldn’t make it easy for him if he continued to antagonize her.
Lewis stared at his daughter, his mind racing. He knew that he was in a difficult position and that he had to make a decision quickly. He couldn’t let his family’s dirty secrets co to light, but at the sa ti, he couldn’t afford to lose his position as the CEO.
