"Alistair Han finally made a move," Gavin warned his best friend.
Gavin expected that Lennox and Alistair were bound to clash, but he hadn’t expected Adrienne to be the catalyst. When Lennox and Adrienne’s relationship was made public, it was bound to get a reaction from Alistair Han.
"I know," Lennox said, staring outside the massive windows of his office with a thoughtful expression. "Addie and I already expected this to happen. He’s forcing her father to make Addie marry him and break us apart."
Gavin humd in understanding. He knew Lennox wouldn’t sit by and do nothing while others threatened his marriage to Adrienne. He looked at Lennox, seeing how he’d changed over the years since they t Adrienne Jiang.
He looked dashing in his tailored suit, his face cleanly shaven, his hair slicked back with just a touch of gel, and his eyes as dark as midnight.
Lennox used to be an empty husk after the car accident, but eting Adrienne breathed new life into him. She had beco his reason for living, his source of happiness and strength. Lennox was determined to protect their love at all costs, even if it ant confronting the world head-on.
"Then it’s a good thing you and Adrienne are already married, though I suppose Alistair would just change his goal and make Adrienne divorce you instead," Gavin comnted.
Lennox chuckled, his gaze shifting towards the wedding band on his finger. He couldn’t help but feel a surge of gratitude for the day he had t Adrienne, for she had brought him a love so profound that he was willing to face any challenge that ca their way. Regardless of obstacles, Alistair threw their way, Lennox was determined to hold onto Adrienne and their marriage with unwavering strength and devotion.
"Wouldn’t it be better if you and Adrienne disclosed your marriage to the public to stop Alistair and the Jiang family?" Gavin asked.
"Addie has a plan in mind, and I trust that she won’t succumb to the pressure of her family," Lennox answered. "I’m more worried that the other mbers of the Qin family would go after her instead."
Upon the ntion of the Qin family, Lennox’s expression darkened with concern. He knew his relatives were notorious for their ruthless tactics and would stop at nothing to get what they wanted. Lennox couldn’t bear the thought of Adrienne being caught in the crossfire of their dangerous sches. After all, they were the reason why his father lost his life and left Lennox severely injured from the accident years ago.
Lennox had spent years trying to distance himself from the rest of the Qin family, but their shadow lood over him and his loved ones. He swore to protect Adrienne at all costs, even if it ant confronting his family and facing the painful mories that haunted him.
"There’s no movent from their side yet," Gavin reassured him. "They must have thought that you weren’t serious with her. If anything, they might try to seek Adrienne out and bribe her to spy on you."
Lennox scoffed. Adrienne was the last person they could manipulate to betray her. Lennox knew Adrienne’s unwavering loyalty and strength of character made her immune to any attempts at manipulation. He was confident that no amount of bribes or pressure would ever make her betray him.
"Addie is smarter than that," Lennox said, a small smile gracing his lips. "And I trust her with my life."
Gavin nodded in agreent. He knew that Adrienne was not soone to be underestimated. She had repeatedly proven herself, especially during the early days of Lennox’s recovery. Lennox had been bedridden and unable to walk for a long ti. Adrienne had been there every step of the way, helping him with his physiotherapy and cheering him up when he was down.
This was also the reason why Gavin accepted Adrienne as Lennox’s wife. Unlike Audrey Xiao, who quickly succumbed to the pressure of her family and married Jacob Qin, betraying Lennox in the process, Adrienne had shown unwavering loyalty and commitnt to Lennox.
Audrey had once proclaid her love for Lennox, though it was unrequited. However, she had never done anything to prove her devotion and affection to Lennox, whereas Adrienne, who had never once voiced her love for him, had consistently gone above and beyond to support him. This made Gavin confident that Adrienne would always be there for Lennox, no matter the circumstances.
Gavin admired Adrienne’s resilience and dedication, knowing she would always put Lennox’s well-being above anything else. He believed that Adrienne was the perfect partner for Lennox, soone who would stand by his side through thick and thin, no matter the challenges they faced.
Initially, he was against the contract marriage his best friend entered with Adrienne Jiang, but Gavin’s worries dissipated as he looked at how they interacted with each other. He could see their genuine love and care for each other, which made him realize that their relationship was more than just a business arrangent. Gavin began to understand that their bond was built on trust and mutual support, making him confident that Lennox had decided to marry Adrienne.
"Good," Gavin said, clapping Lennox on the back. "Then we have nothing to worry about. Alistair Han won’t stand a chance against you and Adrienne."
Lennox smiled, feeling a surge of confidence at Gavin’s words. He knew they had a tough road ahead of them, but with Adrienne by his side, he was ready to face anything coming their way.

Lennox turned to Gavin and said, "I need your help. We have to dig up any dirt we can find on Alistair and use it as leverage. If he thinks he could easily take Addie away from , then he’s mistaken. He started this war, but I’ll be the one to end it."
Gavin nodded in agreent. "Consider it done, Nox."
