Once Adrienne finished her work at Purple Cloud, it was her turn to accompany her husband to the Huayi branch in Nanchuan. It wasn’t the first ti she’d been there, as she had once visited the place with Gavin a year ago to discuss her investnt projects. Although she owned a small shoe line, most of Adrienne’s inco ca from her investnts.
"How co I don’t see Uncle Shark accompanying you anymore? Did you let him off?" Lennox asked as they sat inside the car that would bring them to Huayi. This was his first ti visiting Nanchuan, and he wanted to see how the city had flourished for the past three years.
Nanchuan’s skyscrapers seem to grow out of the ground like thousand-year-old oaks, towering into the sky and reaching for the clouds. At the center of the city was a high-rise building that looked like a golden pagoda. The streets are endless streams of cars and buses; there is an untad feeling there as if no one owns the city.
The city was bustling with activity, with cars honking and people on the street. The vibrant colors of billboards and neon signs illuminated the bustling streets, creating a srizing spectacle that captured the essence of Nanchuan’s energy and vitality. In Lennox’s opinion, Nanchuan looked more populated and busier than Changshi.
"Why would I do that?" Adrienne looked at ease in her seat next to her husband. "He’s a valuable person to keep. Uncle Shark is looking after Mom as we speak. I cannot trust anyone else to guard her like he does. Plus, he has been useful in helping with my investnt decisions. I value his expertise and opinion."
"Oh?" Lennox humd, "I would have never thought you held such respect for a notorious loan shark like him. Your brother and I used to wonder why you insisted on keeping Uncle Shark around, but I see he has so use for you. Aren’t you afraid that soone would bribe him to betray you? You should know your Jiang family wouldn’t easily give up on harming you."
Since the Jiang family’s last attempt to harm his wife, Lennox could barely contain his anger whenever his in-laws were ntioned before him.
Adrienne shook her head. People might not understand why she trusted Uncle Shark, as he had such a bad reputation as a loan shark, but she knew that beneath his tough exterior, he had always been loyal to her. No matter what life she lived, Adrienne knew she could rely on Uncle Shark for help.
She had seen firsthand how he protected her interests and ensured her safety whenever he was around. Additionally, Uncle Shark was not soone who would readily accept bribes; one of the reasons she admired him so much was his integrity. Uncle Shark despised people who betrayed loved ones and friends for financial gain because he had once experienced betrayal by a person he trusted the most.
"Uncle Shark would rather murder that person than betray ." She responded. "No one could give him the sa benefits and advantages I could, so there’s no reason to doubt his loyalty."
Lennox nodded in understanding. Given his reckless and crass nature, Uncle Shark could not get employnt from wealthy families. Uncle Shark doesn’t mince his words when he speaks and only shows his respect and loyalty towards Adrienne. Irina and the others reported that the man was quite protective of Adrienne, causing him to beat anyone who would dare speak ill of her in his presence.
Lennox couldn’t help but admire Uncle Shark’s unwavering loyalty and dedication to Adrienne. It was clear that he would go to great lengths to ensure her safety and reputation, even if it ant resorting to violence. Despite his rough exterior, Uncle Shark’s actions spoke volus about his genuine care for Adrienne.
"Why are you asking this? You aren’t planning to suggest getting rid of him, right?" Adrienne narrowed her eyes in suspicion. Lennox surely had sothing in mind when asking her about Uncle Shark. He wasn’t soone who would do sothing without a reason.
Not because they were married didn’t an she would allow Lennox to interfere with her decisions and try to take control of her life. Since her rebirth, Adrienne had always been fiercely independent and would not allow anyone, not even her own husband, to manipulate her. She valued her independence and would not tolerate any attempts to undermine it.
"Of course not," Lennox grumbled, feeling aggrieved that his wife misunderstood his question. "I was just curious because I haven’t seen him since I returned."
Since they were separated for three years, there were many things Lennox wanted to know about his wife. He wanted to understand the people and relationships that had beco important to her during their ti apart. Uncle Shark was one of those unknowns, and Lennox’s curiosity stemd from a genuine desire to reconnect with Adrienne and understand her better.
Adrienne’s expression finally cald down. "Anyway, when are the children arriving? Do you still plan to live at Jinxiu Garden? Did the doctors give Noah permission for long travels?"
She heard her husband sigh dejectedly. Adrienne knew it had been hard for Lennox to look after his siblings while recovering from his past injuries. While it was true that he could hire the best nannies to look after them, Adrienne knew her husband didn’t fully trust other people regarding her and his siblings’ safety. Lennox must have ensured everything was prepared before his departure.
"I could only leave first because Liam had returned from training camp. He promised to look after the kids until their school year ended. Sam and Noah insisted we get married as soon as I arrived." Lennox answered, knowing his private ti with his wife was bound to end once his siblings returned from abroad.
Lennox had always been responsible, taking on the role of protector for his siblings. He understood the importance of ensuring their safety and wanted to make sure everything was in order before he left.
