Adrienne wasn’t the only one who passed the exam. She could hardly contain her excitent as she walked up the steps to Myrtle’s apartnt building. It had been a few days since they found out they passed the entrance exam at Chiangshi University with Valerie, and she couldn’t wait to celebrate with them. She had envisioned this mont since they started studying together, and now it was finally happening.

As Adrienne reached the door of Myrtle’s apartnt, she took a deep breath and rang the doorbell. Within seconds, the door swung open, revealing a grinning Myrtle.

"Addie, you made it!" she exclaid, pulling Adrienne into a tight hug.

Adrienne laughed, returning the hug. "Of course I did. Do you expect not to accept your invitation?"

Myrtle motioned for Adrienne to co inside, leading her into the cozy living room. As Adrienne entered the apartnt, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of comfort and familiarity. This place had also beco her ho in her past life.

The walls were painted in Myrtle’s favorite shade of blue, and the living room was decorated with photographs of the two of them. Others would have assud they were blood-related, as they were always present at every milestone in each other’s lives.

A pang of hurt blood in Adrienne’s heart. Myrtle never had a chance to raise her son, Dylan. If Myrtle survived childbirth, Adrienne knew she would shower Dylan with love. It was why Adrienne had done everything she could for her nephew.

"It’s been a while since you visited and spent a night with . I’m starting to get envious of Mr. Qin." She heard Myrtle say. "Anyway, I ordered pizza and got so snacks and drinks to celebrate. Val said she was also on her way. She should be here anyti soon."

Adrienne decided to push the depressing thoughts aside. It wasn’t the right ti for her to reminisce about her tragic past.

As if on cue, the doorbell rang again, and Myrtle imdiately rushed to answer it. Valerie stepped inside the apartnt and joined Adrienne on the couch.

"Hey. I didn’t think you’d actually make it in ti." Valerie smiled at Adrienne. "You’ve been busy these days."

Adrienne chuckled. "There’s no way I’ll miss this celebration."

Myrtle slumped on the floor and pierced her cup with a straw after handing the other two cups to Adrienne and Valerie.

"Her darling is stealing Addie’s ti." She feigned disappointnt. "Spring has finally co to our dear Addie, Val."

Adrienne laughed and playfully nudged Myrtle. "Oh, hush. It’s not like I’ve abandoned you two completely." She took a sip from her cup.

"Oh?" Valerie’s brows shot up in surprise. "I didn’t know Addie was seeing soone. Have you t him already, Myrtle?"

Adrienne never paid attention to their male schoolmates, and Valerie thought their friend was uninterested. She had never thought Adrienne was seeing soone because the latter never ntioned him to them.

Adrienne sighed. "Here we are again."

Ever since Myrtle t Lennox, she had occasionally teased Adrienne about it. However, Myrtle was mum when Adrienne asked her about Gavin Si in return. However, the slight blush appearing on Myrtle’s face was enough to answer her question.

"I did." Myrtle nodded, answering Valerie, before turning her attention to Adrienne. "He’s been out of the hospital already. How was his recovery?"

"Is he sick?" Valerie interjected. Adrienne didn’t deny Myrtle’s claim, so it must be true.

She wondered if this was why Adrienne never ntioned him to them whenever they hung out. This was the first ti Valerie heard of Adrienne having a boyfriend. Valerie felt a mix of curiosity and concern. She wondered why Adrienne had kept her relationship a secret and if sothing more serious was going on with her boyfriend’s health.

Adrienne nodded. "He’s doing well with his physical therapy. They have already started preparing for his next surgery, and he would need to fly to the States soon."

"No fair, Addie. How co you introduced him to Myrtle and not ?" Valerie pouted. "He must be outstanding for him to catch your eye. I don’t expect less from you, Addie."

"Don’t worry, Val. You’ll et him soday since he already gave Addie a ring." Myrtle said before giving Valerie a wink.

Valerie’s eyes widened in surprise. "A ring? Already?" she exclaid. "Addie, you sly witch! You didn’t waste any ti, did you?"

Valerie’s eyes darted toward Adrienne’s hand, noticing the ring on her right hand. Valerie’s curiosity peaked. She couldn’t help but wonder how serious their relationship had beco.

She never thought Adrienne was already engaged and assud that Adrienne’s ring was just an accessory she liked to wear. However, if one had a good eye, one could tell that the ring Adrienne was wearing cost a fortune—no wonder no man could catch her eye because she already had soone special. Myrtle also seed to approve of him, so Valerie’s worries about Adrienne lessened.

"Do you already have a date in mind?" Myrtle asked Adrienne.

Even if Adrienne didn’t say it, Myrtle could tell that Lennox Qin had already smitten her best friend. Myrtle could see the way Adrienne’s eyes lit up whenever Lennox was ntioned, and it was clear that she had strong feelings for him. She couldn’t help but feel excited for her friend and hoped their connection would continue growing.

Myrtle had never seen Adrienne act like this when she used to like her detestable stepbrother, Alistair.

Adrienne shrugged. "It’s too early to discuss the wedding details, Myrtle, but we agreed to marry once I reached my 21st birthday."

"Right. Once you turned twenty-one, you wouldn’t need your father’s permission to marry." Myrtle humd, nodding in understanding. "That’s a smart move, Addie. It’s important to have everything planned out before tying the knot. You shouldn’t allow the Jiang family to ruin it. "

Adrienne nodded in agreent, though she had a feeling that Lennox already had a plan for their wedding. She trusted his judgnt and knew he would ensure everything would go smoothly.
