The days breezed by before the day of Miss Gu’s coming-of-age ceremony finally arrived. When Camilla and Elise arrived at Adrienne’s ho, Adrienne’s car was already prepared, with Irina and another female bodyguard waiting for their young mistress.
Adrienne stepped out of her ho clad in a black-fitting dress. Her shoulders and neck were exposed. Camilla looked at her with so trepidation. The smile on her face stiffened as her hands tightened on her side.
"Addie, you are becoming more and more beautiful each day." She comnted.
There was no doubt that Adrienne Jiang was the black sheep of the Jiang family, yet among the granddaughters produced by the family, her appearance was irrefutably superior compared to Elise and her cousins.
At the sa ti, Elise, still seated inside the car they rode, had a bewildered expression. Why is it that every ti she sees Adrienne, the latter was more beautiful than the last ti she saw her? It truly made her feel green with envy.
"Adrienne, you’re sothing. To make and my mother wait for you for such a long ti, aren’t you taking this event seriously?"
"It’s my fault," Adrienne chuckled. "After all, this is the first ti I’ll be attending an event not hosted by the Jiang family."
After exchanging a few words, they left to avoid being late. Camilla had inford Adrienne that Ayla and Sierra had already gone to the Gu family mansion before them and had been waiting for their arrival.
The journey to the Gu mansion was peaceful, but Adrienne and Irina knew it was far from that once they stepped into the devil’s lair. Madam Gu stepped out personally to greet them as they alighted from their cars. The woman paid extra attention to Adrienne, which made her more suspicious in Adrienne’s eyes.
They were led inside the mansion, and everyone’s eyes landed on them. So were surprised upon seeing the eldest young miss of the Jiang family.
"That must be Adrienne Jiang. I would never have thought that she would be a burgeoning beauty." Soone said it in the crowd.
Adrienne was then introduced to the birthday celebrant, and she took this chance to size up the Young Miss Gu. Young Miss Gu was an illegitimate child of Master Gu from a prostitute, and her older siblings, who were born from the legal wife, were constantly bullying her. However, the Gu family didn’t know that this young girl had a rare talent. Her paintings would be deed a national treasure within a few years.
"Miss Jiang, I’ve been dying to et you." Marion Gu smiled bashfully at Adrienne.
"Is that so? It’s an honor to et you. I’ve heard things about you."
The Gu family treated Marion’s older sister like a priceless pearl, but Marion grew up in a place where poverty was prevalent. Everyone was waiting for her to make a mistake today. The hyenas were always ready to humiliate her.
Adrienne moved forward as if she were about to kiss Marion’s cheek but instead whispered to the other girl’s ear. "Be careful. Your older sister is glaring at you. She might do sothing to embarrass you."
Marion was caught off guard but thanked Adrienne in the end. She wasn’t willing to leave Adrienne when her father called her to join the rest of the family. She gave Adrienne one last look before begrudgingly leaving.
"Miss, do you think Miss Marion knows sothing?" Irina whispered next to Adrienne.
"Of course she knows, but what could she do to stop the Gu family? Since her elder brother is set on marrying , they would try to isolate from everyone. Don’t let your guard down, Irina."
"Miss shouldn’t eat or drink while we’re here. If you don’t start showing the effects of the drug, then they will surely suspect you."
"I know. I’ll pretend to sip whatever drink they’ll hand ." Adrienne said. "I’ll trust you’ll protect if things get out of hand."

Ares Gu examined the young woman before him attentively. Though he had spent years admiring countless beauties and indulging in them, this was the first ti he had seen such a stunning woman. Adrienne Jiang might be five years his junior, but the Young Master Gu had no doubt she’d be an even more beautiful woman once she reached her peak.
The banquet hall was lively and bustling with noise from their guests, yet Adrienne Jiang seed to be alone in the midst of it, isolated with no one to speak with. She stood there with a faint smile while holding a flute of wine in one hand. His eyes lit up when she took a small sip from her drink.
Her ethereal appearance, as well as her cold temperant, intrigued him. He looked at her lustfully and smiled. As he looked at Adrienne, he imagined this young, beautiful, naked body beneath his own, tears spilling from her eyes, begging him to stop. He swallowed his saliva and ogled at Adrienne shalessly.
Ares was consud by happiness. Today, he would make this young woman his. He had been drooling over this beauty for so ti, and the heavens had unexpectedly deigned to present her to him.
As if sensing his burning stare, Adrienne lifted her gaze and looked at him. It only took one glance for Adrienne to know this man’s filthy thoughts about her. She sneered inwardly. He wanted to make her his wife. Did he have the ability to do so?
Adrienne stepped out of the banquet hall and headed outside. The Gu family mansion was even bigger than her estate. One could easily get lost if they did not pay attention to where they were going.
Madam Gu must have been impatient and was quick to hand her a wine glass laced with the drug. Only a little wine had touched her lips, yet she was already feeling weak. After so thought, Adrienne realized that the wine wasn’t drugged, but the glass itself. The wine was poured before her, and Madam Gu drank from the sa bottle.
"Miss, your face..." Irina was startled when she saw Adrienne’s face.
"Hurry, Irina. You must help hide before they find !"
