Adrienne was impressed by how easily Irina had managed to set a eting between her and Scarlett’s mother. The actress imdiately returned from her business trip to et her and invited Adrienne to her ho.
"She must have been afraid. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have returned this early." Hunter comnted as he and Adrienne visited their mother one afternoon.
Rosemary’s vital signs had already returned to normal but there were no signs of her waking up anyti soon. If it wasn’t for her brother and grandparents’ support, Adrienne knew she would plunge into depression and helplessness.
"She must be rocking her head, wondering how we found out about Scarlett’s existence. Though so secrets could be taken to the grave, so are dood to be uncovered. It’s not like she could deny giving birth to Scarlett." She answered.
Adrienne marked the math problems she couldn’t understand on her howork, intending to get Lennox’s help on them later. Although Lennox had voiced his intentions towards her, their relationship remained the sa. If it weren’t for Lennox’s lingering gaze, Adrienne would have assud he’d forgotten about it.
"I suppose you’ve already inford Lennox Qin and Mr. Si about it. Did they tell you what to do next?" Her brother continued to ask her. There was sothing different about his sister these days. She looked calm and the usual tiredness in her face was gone. He wondered what had happened during his absence.
"They did. Gavin would join us to et Scarlett’s mother this ti. He wanted to make sure that Scarlett’s mother wouldn’t try to do anything." She assured her brother. Hunter and Lennox had been insisting she prioritize her safety and she didn’t have the energy to argue with them, so she agreed.
Her eting with Scarlett’s mother was approaching and she needed to ensure that nothing could stop her from retrieving the young girl. She cannot allow Scalett to suffer further than she already had.
"Ah, I’m more worried about what you’ll do to her mother once you et her. Don’t act recklessly, Addie. Those won you have beaten up before might not have sued you for assault, but Divine Yang is a famous actress. She’ll surely not let you off easily if you hit her." Hunter gave her a pointed look, reminding Adrienne of her offense during their last visit to Noah Qin. He didn’t want to tolerate his sister beating anyone harshly no matter how wrong the other party was.
’Lennox is spoiling her too much.’ Hunter thought. Adrienne wouldn’t dare to act this recklessly if Lennox didn’t give her the leeway to do what she wanted. His sister needed to learn so patience.
Adrienne slightly pouted and cupped her chin. She looked outside, seeing the sun was about to set. The temperature was dropping rapidly as the night approached, but it was no match against the fiery rage Adrienne felt towards Scarlett’s mother. She might not be able to hurt Divine Yang, but there were so many ways to make her life miserable.
The next day, Gavin arrived at the Jiang Estate to et her. They agreed to et Scarlett’s mother together and convince her to give up her rights on Scarlett. After hearing about Scarlett’s condition from Adrienne, Gavin insisted on coming with them.
Adrienne had no doubt that Gavin’s patience had already run thin. This wasn’t the first ti Lennox’s siblings were being abused by others and Gavin wanted to deal with it himself this ti.
"You ca too early. I was about to have breakfast. Why don’t you join ?" Adrienne invited him in. She was still in her house clothes when Gavin was led inside by Mother Wang, who was surprised to receive a guest early that morning.
The older woman was curious about what this handso man’s relationship was with her young miss. This was the first ti Adrienne was receiving an unfamiliar guest, but she could see that the two weren’t strangers to each other. Her miss wasn’t lacking when it cos to looks and intelligence anyway. Mother Wang is certain that many n would want to win Adrienne’s heart.
Hunter said nothing when Gavin joined him and Adrienne at the dining table. Mother Wang then served hot coffee for Gavin, while Adrienne continued her breakfast as if she didn’t have a guest to entertain. Once done, Adrienne excused herself. She returned half an hour later, dressed in tight denim pants, white shirt and a black jacket.
The three went straight to Scarlett’s ho in silence. Since Gavin was with them, Irina was in the second car following behind them. She wasn’t curious why Gavin had joined Adrienne today as she knew that Adrienne wouldn’t be able to deal with Scarlett’s mother alone.
The silence was deafening when the house helper allowed them to enter. The manor was a three-storey property and was too large for Divine Yang and Scarlett to live on their own. There were only three househelpers that were hired by the actress to tend to the household chores and to look after her young daughter.
Adrienne gave the place a good look. Everything inside scread money although the furniture and decor looked simple. There wasn’t any indication that there was a child living there. Clearly, Divine didn’t want any guest to see or suspect that a child was living with her.
"Miss Yang isn’t ho yet, but she assured that she’ll be here in half an hour. She’s still shooting a scene for her latest drama." The elderly house helper said apologetically. It seed like she had a good understanding of the mistress of this place.
She then led the three to a room and served so refreshnts. Adrienne checked her phone to see the trendings of the stock market. The Han Corporation’s shares continued to grow while the Qin Group’s share had dipped considerably since Jacob Qin took over the company.
It wasn’t surprising, according to Gavin, when she overheard his conversation with Lennox last week. The two of them expected that Jacob would have a hard ti grasping the authority of the company since their uncles and aunt would surely try to obstruct him.
"Is the Han Corporation still trying to snatch deals from you and Lennox?" Adrienne asked Gavin all of a sudden. Since they needed to wait for a bit and there was no one around, she didn’t mind discussing this with him.
"I’m not sure, but it seems like he’s involved with so of our prospective clients. Did Mr. Han offend you in any way?" He asked. Gavin hadn’t forgotten Lennox’s inquiry about Adrienne’s involvent with Alistair Han.
"He did and I intend to make him pay for it. There’s no need for you to worry about . However, if you want to win against Alistair Han, then I have ways to secure your win." She smiled wickedly, a smile that could make anyone feel uncomfortable seeing it.
However, in Gavin and Hunter’s eyes, it only ant trouble for the other party. Alistair Han must have done sothing horrible for Adrienne to retaliate like this.
"You have a way?" Gavin was curious what would Adrienne do to spite their mutual enemy. The deal Alistair Han took away from Huayi Investnt was a big deal for him and Lennox. It would be nice to return such a favor to Alistair.
"Of course." Adrienne said confidently. "Would I ntion it if I don’t have a way? I’ll let him experience defeat in your hands first, just until I’m strong enough to crush him with my own."
She said this with conviction and Hunter looked at her with an unreadable face. He never knew what transpired between her and Alistair Han, but he could sense a deep hatred coming from his sister.
Perhaps it was because Adrienne was his sister, but he would tolerate her sche this ti. As long as it was their enemy, he wouldn’t attempt to stop her from seeking vengeance.
His eyes darkened as he thought of it. Regardless, Alistair Han was already on his hit list. He wouldn’t allow that man to hurt Adrienne ever again. Alistair Han and the Jiang family might have thought that they could bully his sister, but he would make sure they would regret being related to him and Adrienne soday.
Adrienne had already made so preparations ahead of ti and casually sent a confidential file for Gavin to use. Since Lennox wasn’t in charge of Huayi right now, she could only assist Gavin to help them cut off their losses by putting Alistair in deep trouble.
Gavin’s phone pinged. He raised a brow and gave Adrienne a blank look before opening it. He then read the contents in silence. The slight widening in his eyes was an indication that he wasn’t expecting what he was reading. He quickly turned his gaze to Adrienne. This ti, giving her a surprise look.
"But how...?"
"Just follow the directions and you would surely get the upper hand against them. Gavin, make sure Alistair won’t be able to recover from this. You have to use this before anyone reveals it to the public."
