Was this the question Penny ant? The one I had to say "yes" to if I wanted to get my reward? But wasn’t it cruel to agree to sothing so important just for the sake of money?
[Then what do you feel, Host?]
[What would your answer be if Penny hadn’t given you a random quest?]
Suddenly, my mind went blank again. What was I supposed to say?
No? But honestly, I wasn’t completely against the idea of becoming his wife, not just by paper or by na, but truly his wife.
Still, shouldn’t love co first before becoming a real husband and wife? Ah, but maybe that didn’t really matter.
The most important thing between a husband and wife is protecting each other and staying together even through the hardest tis.
Even if one day Lando went bankrupt—hopefully that never happens—I’d still stay by his side.
"Helcia," he called my na nervously, probably because I still hadn’t replied. Then he repeated his question, "Will you be my wife?"
I answered at last, "We already have wedding rings, and we’ve signed the marriage papers, so—"
"No," Lando interrupted, shaking his head. "All of that was arranged by our families. We didn’t really have a say in it. But this ti, I’m asking because it’s my choice, and because I want you to be my wife, completely."
He took a small step closer, his eyes never leaving mine. "That’s why... please, tell your answer."
He looked so tense, like he wasn’t even breathing. He had co without his wheelchair and had been standing for quite a while, weren’t his legs hurting?
[Host, you haven’t answered him.]
Right. Every ti I faced sothing that involved emotions like this, my mind always wandered off so easily.
Finally, I smiled at him and said, "Yes, I want to be your wife."
[Congratulations, Host! You have successfully completed your mission: Say ’YES’ to your HUSBAND’s request!]
[Reward: $33,000 has been credited to your account.]
[Remaining Balance: $318,875]
[Lando’s favorability has increased by 6%]
My eyes widened slightly because Lando’s favorability had reached 75%! That ant I only needed 25% more to complete one of my main missions.
Wasn’t this happening a little too fast?
[There’s nothing wrong with too soon, Host.]
I was about to reply to Penny in my head when Lando suddenly dropped to the floor. He was still holding my hands, but now he was on his knees, his head lowered.
"H-Husband, what’s wrong?!" I asked in panic, quickly kneeling down with him. "Do your legs hurt? Should I call a doctor? Do you have a private doc—"
Lando cut off with a soft laugh, looking up at with a smile that made my heart skip. "No," he said gently, his voice trembling just a little. "I’m just... too happy."
I was too stunned to speak because his smile was so beautiful it almost didn’t feel real. It was the kind of smile that could lt the coldest day, the kind that made my heart feel warm and made ti seem to stop around us.
"I’ll try my best to be the perfect husband for you," he said softly.
"You don’t have to be perfect!" I quickly reached up and cupped his cheeks, feeling the warmth of his skin under my palms. "Just keep being like this, that’s already more than enough for ."
People always say that as ti passes, your partner’s love starts to fade, that they grow distant or colder. But sohow, with Lando, it was the opposite.
When we first t, he was cold and distant, like a man who didn’t know how to smile. But now... he was warm, gentle, and even talkative. Honestly, I used to think he’d stay like a walking refrigerator forever.
That’s why I silently wished he would never change, and never turn his back on one day.
"There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be better," he said with a soft chuckle. "After all, this is my first ti being a husband."
"Then... too!" I said quickly, looking at him with a serious face. "This is my first ti being a wife, so... please forgive if I make a lot of mistakes in the future."
Lando laughed softly. "Then we’ll learn together," he said. "We don’t have to be perfect. As long as we keep trying, that’s enough."
I smiled, feeling my chest grow lighter. His words were simple, but they carried so much comfort that it almost made tear up.
"Deal," I whispered, intertwining my fingers with his. "We’ll learn together."
He nodded and brought my hand to his lips, pressing a gentle kiss on my knuckles. "That’s a promise."
We stayed like that for a while until his phone suddenly rang. He quickly pulled it out of his pocket and clicked his tongue. It was probably his assistant, calling about work again.
"I’m sorry. I think I should go," he said, trying to stand up. But he swayed a little, and I imdiately reached out to steady him.
"That’s alright," I said with a small smile. "I still need to film my video anyway."
The air between us suddenly turned awkward. Neither of us knew how to say goodbye after everything that just happened. In the end, Lando took a small step back, rubbing the back of his neck. "Then... see you again later," he said, his voice soft but unsure.
"Y-yeah," I replied quickly, nodding. "See you again later."
He looked like he wanted to say sothing more, but instead, he just gave a shy little wave and started walking slowly away from my room.
Before he could get too far, I rushed after him and lightly tapped his shoulder.
"Yes—?" he turned around, surprised.
Before he could say anything else, I stood on my tiptoes and pressed a gentle kiss on his cheek. "Good luck at work, husband."
As soon as those words left my mouth, I quickly turned around, scooped up all my kittens that had wandered out of the room, and slamd my door shut.
My heart was pounding so fast I could barely breathe, and for so reason... I couldn’t stop smiling.
