Duan Ren smiled. "Poor her. Who knew that the husband she got married to would so cruelly bury her with his own hands."
Sweat ford on Gu Rong's forehead. The callous words rang harshly in his ears and his chest began to expand with breathlessness.
He had been ntally preparing himself with grave difficulty about this very conversation he was about to have with Yating. But with how Duan Ren spoke, insinuating so devious and sadist plot, he felt losing that confidence quickly. He thought of himself as a criminal who snatched a very important person from Yating's life.
"Rong, you-"
"Get out."
She blinked twice. It was because the voice hadn't co from Gu Rong but from sobody standing behind her. She quickly turned, her eyes widening.
Words weren't enough to express the frigid aura Yating was leaking. He looked at Gu Rong and dashed towards him. He held his hand and said, "Dad, breathe. Calm down."
Yating was panicking looking at his state. He thought if this continued, he could get another heart attack which was extrely dangerous considering he has just been recovered from one.
Gu Rong stared at Yating with his blurry vision. "Yating…"
Yating felt as if sobody was stabbing his heart rcilessly. He had never seen Gu Rong so weak and helpless before, almost as if he was begging.
"Dad. I am here," he squeezed his hand firmly, trying to let him feel his assurance.
He looked back at Duan Ren, his icy gaze throwing daggers at her.
"I think I was very clear in what I told you. Who do you think you are to just barge in my Dad's room like that?"
"Because I had to co, Yating," she sneered. "You wanted to give him the first chance to talk to you? Do you know how he will manipulate you-"
"Aren't you doing the sa thing?" He shot back. "If Dad might want to manipulate into not hating him, then you also want to manipulate into hating him, correct? Do you think that makes you a saint? You have your own selfishness in appearing now after all these years, right?"
"Young master…?"
Butler Mo, too, arrived bringing a fruit plate with him accompanied by Chyou and Xiaosi who he t on his way. He almost lost his balance seeing Duan Ren in the ward.
"You…! Why would you co here?"
Chyou was similarly taken aback while Xiaosi narrowed his eyes.
Duan Ren ever so slightly stiffened with their presence, but she didn't falter. "Should a servant be talking to like that?"
"You are not Mrs. Gu anymore," Yating barked, making her eyes widen. "Uncle Mo can act however he wants."
She was flabbergasted. "I cannot believe just how much of a fool Rong is making you! Do you even know what he did!?"
"I heard it."
A sharp silence descended. Gu Rong shuddered hard.
"I heard it when you said it to Dad the first ti."
"So then why are you still by his side!? He killed your mother for God's sake!"
Yating admitted that the truth shook him. He couldn't make heads or tails of it. For all these years, he assud Duan Ren was his mother. But he had no clue that Gu Rong was married one more ti too. That Duan Ren was his second wife. He absolutely never learned the existence of this woman - Gu Rong's first wife.
And Gu Rong had killed that person. The thing he was fearing to be true actually happened. He still couldn't fathom his father to be a killer but there the truth was, shining as crystal clear as daylight. Gu Rong wasn't opposing the accusations either, which further proved the fact.
Xiaosi ca forward and let out a cold smile. "I am so touched. After more than twenty years, you co back and express your concern towards Yating. I wonder what caused this sudden change of heart."
Chyou said, "Isn't this sudden change of heart because of your husband?"
Duan Ren stiffened.
"Word got to that his business isn't quite flourishing like it used to and you are quite in a pinch. A financial pinch if I may add so. Is that why you suddenly rembered your rich ex-husband?"
She then coldly added. "And even went as far as colluding with Cheng Yin?"
Duan Ren's smile cracked. "I don't know what you-"
"Yeah that's exactly what he had said too and I can throw the sa pictures and call logs on your face as well," she smiled. "So cut out the acting. As an actress myself, I cannot see my profession getting insulted like this."
"You-"
"And now you are here because you want to take advantage of Uncle's weak health condition and scare a cheque out of him? For the third ti?"
Her eyes widened. Yating, too, was confused. "Third ti?"
Chyou glared at her. "She has been shalessly demanding money from Uncle for a few months, threatening him that she will tell you the truth. But Uncle refused to budge the third ti and so she planned to et you, acting like a pitiful mother."
"That's not true! Don't concoct wild stories!"
Butler Mo furiously said, "I am fully aware what kind of a person you are, Miss. Duan. Don't try to act like a noble person now. You purposely chose this ti to et Master because he was alone. You wanted to intimidate him using young master. That's what you did years ago too."
Just then, the nurse ca in and was baffled with the scene. "What is happening here?"
She glanced at Duan Ren and frowned. "Who are you? I don't think you are in the register. We are limiting very few people to et Mr. Gu."
Butler Mo imdiately said, "Nurse, please let her out. She barged in all on her own and even threatened the Master."
"I am not doing anything like that!"
The nurse looked aghast. "Mam, please co with . This won't be tolerated at all."
"No…"
Gu Rong's tiny and frail voice ca out from the bed. "Let her be here."
"Dad! There is no need-"
He weakly raised his hand and said, "I have decided. I will…" he was slightly breathless as he continued, "I will tell you the truth - everything that happened in the past and I will tell you in front of her so that she doesn't think I manipulated you. Everybody can listen to it and judge …however they see it fit."
