Liu Hai took out a piece of paper and flapped it loudly open.
Leina violently tugged Jian’s shoulder and communicated with him through eye contact.
What is he doing?
Jian only shrugged.
Fooling around as usual.
Jun and Xing Bi pressed their brows, especially watching the speechless reactions of the Ren family. He pitied Jin, who was trying his hardest from erupting in an ablaze.
Feeling the heat of Jin’s frustration, Ai asked, "What’s the matter, Grandpa?"
"I have so questions to ask Jini-boy - I an, Liu Jin," his eyes narrowed. "Especially around his treatnt towards my dearest granddaughter-in-law!"
Huh?
Jin tried his hardest to keep his smile intact. "What...what treatnt Grandpa?"
"It was a contract marriage, wasn’t it?" Liu Hai looked like the ultimate judge of so imaginary court.
"...Yes."
He glared and violently flapped a few pages right at his face. "How dare you coerce my dearest granddaughter-in-law with a contract!"
"..."
"Poor Alix was struggling to fight for her company and family and you decided to use this situation against her!?" he sniffled.
Actually it was a signed blank check, Alix thought but she kept quiet because Liu Hai was from the bride’s side.
"That contract really didn’t have any unfair terms-"
"And you even troubled your family and her by going to jail and coercing her to et you there!" He threw another set of pages at his face.
Where the hell is Grandpa pulling out these pages from!
"And then you almost never let play with her! Is this how your father has raised you!?"
Jinhai, who was needlessly dragged into this chaos, slightly made a hand gesture as if saying, ’What did I do?’
Nana, as his dearest daughter-in-law, was obviously not dragged into the mud.
Liu Hai’s chest puffed. "Keeping all this in mind, I object to this marriage! Liu Jin doesn’t deserve my dearest Alix!"
Ren Luoyang and Ren Cuifen were at a complete loss of words. They could see the doting in his eyes towards Alix but unsure of the outco that it brought.
Mui was left dumbfounded yet again.
Whose grandfather is he?
Ai pursed her lips. "Grandpa, didn’t you declare yourself at the fashion show how Jin would keep Alix the happiest woman in the world? And that is true. My brother-in-law will keep her the happiest because his cute genes are very similar to a certain husband of mine, who is currently on the opposite side."
Jun - "..."
Jin frowned. "Thank you for taking my side but can you stop calling cute?"
"Quiet," Ai glared. "Doesn’t Alix call you Big Bear? That’s a cute nickna," she nodded.
Jin imdiately threw an aggrieved glance at Alix.
Why did you tell her about the actual nickna!
Alix read so kind of a question in his eyes from afar but she only shrugged.
Liu Hai imdiately toned down and even almost shone while talking to Ai. "Hmph, that was then when I thought that he was a good man but he is just a troubleso brat now!"
Jin gritted his teeth. "Even a chaleon wouldn’t change its colors like that..."
He gasped. "See! See! Is he insulting the bride’s side of the family? Such insolence!"
Ren Cuifen tried to dissipate the flas. "Mr. Liu, it’s okay. We understand the situation in which they got married and yes, we had so reservations at first but Liu Jin only proved himself to be a good husband."
Mother-in-law...
Tears threatened to pool in his eyes.
"Don’t fall for his fake charm, Mrs. Ren," he pursed his lips. "He always abandons his aging grandfather," he sniffled. "How can I trust dearest Alix in his hands!"
"Don’t compare her to you!" Jin lashed out.
"See!!! Such a temper he has!"
Aren’t you causing that temper to flare up? Mui’s brow silently twitched.
"More troubleso than your temper?" Nian scoffed.
"Hey! That’s where that attitude he has gotten from!"
Jing sneered. "So what? Will you cancel this wedding now?"
He harrumphed. "I wouldn’t let my dearest granddaughter-in-law marry such a brat who shalessly used a contract to his advantage!"
"Mr. Liu Hai."
Liu Chunhua faced him with a pleasant smile on her lips but her expression was anything but pleasant. Her voice went several notches deeper. Nana scooted further closer to Jinhai’s side, which only resulted in a garden blooming all around him. On the other side was Ai, who was sticking to Jin’s side with all her might.
"May I remind a certain husband of mine of the circumstances in which I ca into the Liu family?"
Liu Hai - "..."
Sweat broke out on his forehead and he visibly gulped.
"You accuse my grandson of using the ans of a contract but didn’t his grandfather make pregnant to marry because his mother was against our relationship?"
His brow twitched hard.
The Ren couple gasped at him.
"And then didn’t his own son use the sa tactics to divorce his first wife and marry my daughter-in-law?"
"What!?"
The ones to exclaim in shock were the twins. They were aware of Jinhai’s previous marriage to Huian and that Nana was his second wife but nobody knew about the specifics of how that had actually gone down.
Ai, however, was a bit aware that he had made so big mistakes to prevent Nana from marrying his cousin Jianyu.
Is this the mistake he was referring to at that ti?
Everybody, including Alix, threw long stares of disbelief at Liu Hai and Jinhai.
"Wait, wait, wait!" Jian gasped. "I thought Nian and I were in an accident!"
Nana threw Jinhai a look. "Care to explain?"
"Mom..." Jinhai inhaled a deep breath and pressed his lips. "Why bring ...into this conversation?"
She smiled. "So that people here thoroughly understand what Liu n’s legacy is. So that a certain troubleso man at whom I’ll definitely be throwing divorce papers at his face later on because it seems like he really likes throwing around papers a lot - understand that he is a pot calling the kettle black."
"Di-di-divorce papers...?" He cried.
She ignored his tears and smiled pleasantly again, that looked nothing short of a demon descending on earth from hell.
"So Mr. Liu, if you have nothing more to add in your defense then can you please step back so that we start with the betrothal, hoho?"
