Warren Prescott felt a sharp pain in his chest, as if soone had stabbed him fiercely with a knife, and his handso face instantly lost all its color.
But he couldn’t care about that now; mustering up his courage, he forcibly held onto her arm.
"Honey, listen to . Everything before was a misunderstanding. I know you hate , but I had no choice... However, we’re lucky we can start over. I’m willing to spend a lifeti making it up to you!"
Ashley Shaw had only one word: "Get lost!"
She once again forcefully shook off his hand and strode towards the store’s entrance.
Warren was anxious and suddenly chased after her, shouting, "Don’t you want to know how our child is doing?"
Ashley’s steps indeed stopped.
Warren seized the opportunity to catch up and stood in front of her.
This ti, he dared not beat around the bush or hold anything back, eting her startled, trembling eyes, he said, "Our child is still alive..."
In an instant, Ashley’s tears fell like large drops.
Her voice was rough and hoarse, as if it had been rubbed by sandpaper.
"Don’t think you can deceive ... I was in a vegetative state, how could our child be fine?"
"It’s true..." Warren was flustered, "I haven’t lied to you, not a single word. I used every possible thod... the entire Prescott Group’s strength to save the child. She’s a girl and looks a lot like you."
Deep down, Ashley hoped the child was still alive; that was the deepest scar in her heart.
But reason told her it was impossible.
How could soone who beca a vegetative state because of a car accident give birth to a healthy child?
She bit her lip hard and asked, "Why should I believe you?"
Warren said, "I understand if you don’t believe , but you should believe what Leo says. Whether I’m telling the truth or not, you can ask Leo. I know where he is and can take you to find him."
Ashley’s hand trembled slightly, then she clenched her fist tightly.
"Warren, if you dare to lie to , I will definitely kill you!"
Warren nodded, "Trust , just trust one last ti. What I’m saying is true, our daughter is very healthy."
Ashley took a deep breath and said, "When are we going to find Leo?"
She still didn’t believe Warren’s words; she needed Leo’s nod to believe it.
Warren’s eyes were full of bitterness.
"National Day holiday? During the holiday, you’re off, and I’m off too. Perfect ti to go."
"Tomorrow." She couldn’t wait for even a day, let alone half a month.
Warren said, "Tomorrow won’t work... I’m not making excuses, it’s just that I do know where he is, but even if we go there, without preparing the relations and prior notification, we won’t be able to et him anyway when we get there."
Ashley slowly regained so of her composure.
That’s indeed the case; Leo could hardly make contact with the outside world. After that email, he hadn’t replied to any of her emails. To et him indeed requires arrangents in advance.
"Alright. National Day."
Warren breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Besides this, there are many things I want to explain to you. You at that ti..."
"I don’t want to hear about anything else, nor do I want to know."
"But..."
"I need to go back."
Warren could only comply, nodding, "Alright, I’ll take you back."
"No need, I’ll go back myself!"
Just then, a taxi dropped off a custor at the café entrance. Ashley took the opportunity to open the car door and get in.
"Driver, to The dical University."
Warren watched Ashley through the car window, her expressionless face, his initial urge to get in the car dying away.
Forget it, just wait another half month.
When everything cos to light, she might be willing to forgive him.
Even if she doesn’t forgive, at least she wouldn’t detest him as much as she does now.
Anyway... he’s been waiting long enough, he’s used to waiting for her.
An extra ten days or half a month makes no difference.
The taxi quickly drove away, and Warren received a call from Lars Prescott at this mont.
Lars Prescott’s voice was anxious, "Warren, I heard from Assistant Lowell that you’ve recovered?"
Warren replied with no emotion in his voice, "Yeah."
Lars, feeling a sense of relief and guilt, said, "If you have ti, our father and son should sit down and have a good talk."
Lars’ tone was almost humble to the core.
The light in Warren’s eyes flickered, saying there’s no need.
Lars seed to have predicted his refusal and didn’t insist, just asked him to take care of himself.
But at this ti, Warren spoke up, "Instead of talking to , why don’t you have a good chat with my mom? If you sort that out, the knot between us will also be resolved."
On the other end, Lars’ eyelids twitched, "You an... confess to your mom?"
"Are you planning to hide it from her for the rest of your life?" He lit a cigarette and said, "A lifeti isn’t very long, it flies by in the blink of an eye. How long do you intend to carry your guilt?"
Lars on the other side felt that Warren had changed.
Not only different from when he had amnesia but also from before.
Between his words... he sounded much more mature, and his tone was no longer so confrontational, no longer like a thorn.
Two seconds later, Lars said, "I understand. When I return to Westcroft for National Day, I’ll clarify everything to your mom."
"Say it whenever you like. Just rember, the person you owe the most is not , but my mom."
Lars was overwheld with sha on the other end.
Being lectured by his own son like this, he’s truly a rare parent in this world.
But unexpectedly, he felt the heavy stone on his chest slowly lift.
Just as he was about to hang up, he heard Warren say, "You’ve been unwilling to give up for so many years... So, do you hope I beco soone like you in the future?"
On the other end, Lars was stunned.
How did he know it was because of unwillingness?
But quickly, he realized what Warren ant.
Warren was referring to his interference in Ashley and his being together.
He paced back and forth in the office, internally struggling, but ultimately, he was defeated by Warren.
"I won’t interfere with your matters in the future."
"Thank you. Dad."
This address "Dad" made Lars’ eyes red.
"It’s all Dad’s fault... It’s all my fault. Do whatever you want in the future."
...
On the other side.
Jocelyn Hayes arrived at the dormitory, finding Ashley still hadn’t returned, and imdiately got anxious, quickly running down to the first floor to find Ariana Grant.
There was another quarrel in Ariana Grant’s dorm, this ti between another girl and the local rich heiress.
Ariana was enjoying the commotion when she turned her head and saw Jocelyn Hayes arriving and quickly ran out.
Jocelyn winked inside and asked, "What’s going on?"
Ariana waved her hand, "Just the usual argunts, ignore them. By the way, why are you here?"
"I saw no one in the dorm, thought Ashley might be here with you."
"She’s not here, probably hasn’t returned yet."
Jocelyn grew more worried, and she simply confessed her brother’s situation to Ariana Grant.
Ariana’s eyes lit up, "Your brother is really interested in my Ashley, huh?"
