Ashley Shaw initially felt a bit relieved; if Warren Prescott just forgot everything, they could smoothly beco two intersecting lines.
However, Mark turned his head and said sothing that left her unsure what expression to make.
Fortunately, no matter what expression she made, Mark couldn’t see it over the phone.
"It’s good if he can recover." She went along with the conversation.
But Mark continued, "Just two or three months, too slow! The doctor said if he could interact more with people he used to know, it could aid recovery. Maybe it could be shortened to a month."
The latter half was sothing Mark made up.
"Hmm." Ashley Shaw held the phone and said, "Then take him to interact more with familiar people."
Mark got straight to the point, "Miss Shaw, can you do a favor? Can you spend more ti with Mr. Prescott Jr. these days? He just told when he ca back, he t a girl who seed very familiar to him. Judging by that, you must be that girl."
Ashley Shaw had already said she t Warren earlier, so she couldn’t deny it now and simply said, "Hmm."
"So it seems like Mr. Prescott Jr. still has so mory of you... If you could see him more often..."
Ashley picked up, "I’m not the only familiar person he knows."
Mark said, "But most of those people are in Westcroft. Besides, we still have to keep it from Elder Prescott, right?"
Ashley hesitated.
Mark simply lowered his stance to the minimum.
"Miss Shaw, please, I’m begging you. Be kind to the end and help this ti!"
"Doesn’t he gradually recover on his own? Why so urgent?"
Mark had already thought of an excuse, "If he recovers sooner, Elder Prescott won’t worry when he finds out the backstory."
He paused and added solemnly.
"And there’s one more important thing. Miss Shaw, you gave two nas back then, and it was those two people acting as the hands-on manipulators that led to Mr. Prescott Jr. getting hurt."
"We were lucky this ti to find soone, but if we hadn’t, Mr. Prescott Jr. would truly be in danger..."
"But Mr. Prescott Jr. can’t rember anything now, so we can’t prosecute them..."
"If he could rember sooner, the evidence would be irrefutable, and the guilty could be punished."
"Miss Shaw, I believe you’re a sensible person and know that resolving this matter sooner would allow the Prescott Group to unite sooner."
Ashley honestly didn’t know these twists and turns, but the two nas Mark ntioned made her recall that even after her past life’s marriage, those two people stayed in the company causing irritation.
Warren was often troubled by those two back then, so she occasionally heard him complain about them and felt very unsatisfied with them herself.
But now she’s no longer his wife; whatever trouble he faces in the future is none of her business, right?
"Miss Shaw," Mark felt Ashley was still resistant and continued to persuade, "It’s not just about getting them behind bars sooner. There are observers whose issues are awaiting Mr. Prescott Jr.’s decisions. He can’t rember anything now, and I’m constantly busy... Though this is my responsibility, I still hope Miss Shaw can help by reaching out to Mr. Prescott Jr. more."
Mark described his situation as very difficult, making it impossible to refuse.
Ashley thought to herself that it was always Warren who treated her poorly, while Mark had always been considerate to her.
Not helping out with such a small task didn’t really make sense.
Ashley was actually very soft-hearted, especially to those genuinely good to her.
She agreed.
"I can contact him a few tis, but I can’t guarantee it’ll help because I’m not that familiar with him. So don’t get your hopes up high."
Mark imdiately agreed with joy.
"I’m already very grateful that you’re willing to help, why should you have to guarantee success?"
"Hmm..."
Seeing she agreed completely, Mark couldn’t help but push further: "Just contacting through WeChat and calls might not trigger his mory, eting in person would be best."
Ashley held to the principle that once she agreed to sothing, she should do her best.
So without much thought, she said, "I’ll try, but I’m about to start military training soon, so I won’t have much free ti."
"Then, when you’re free, can I arrange a al for the two of you?"
"Okay."
"Great, thank you so much."
Mark’s tone was full of gratitude, making Ashley even more embarrassed: "No need to be so polite, you’ve helped a lot, too."
"Yes, Miss Shaw, we’re friends."
Now that they’re friends, she surely wouldn’t refuse, right?
Indeed, Ashley was more embarrassed, and when he said he’d arrange the al within the week, she agreed.
Hanging up the phone, Mark couldn’t help but feel proud.
See, isn’t Miss Shaw a reasonable person? How co Mr. Prescott Jr. hasn’t managed to win her over yet?
He had to step in, or Mr. Prescott Jr. might never get married in his life.
Having accomplished the task, Mark returned to report.
Entering the room, he saw Mr. Prescott Jr. fiddling with sothing on his phone.
Seeing him co in, Warren pointed at the green bubble app and asked, "What’s this?"
"It’s WeChat..."
As soon as he spoke, Mark noticed Ashley Shaw’s profile picture light up on Warren’s phone.
"Miss Shaw ssaged you; I just explained your situation to her. She initially thought you were pretending not to know her, so she was mad and blocked you."
Mark explained while introducing the green bubble app.
"It’s similar to texting; you can send ssages, voice chat, and even video call."
As soon as he finished speaking, Warren had already found the video call button.
This operation seed deeply ingrained, like muscle mory.
Mark wasn’t surprised by this; what surprised him was that after seeing Ashley Shaw’s ssage, "Hello, I’m the person you bumped into at the ergency entrance," Warren imdiately initiated a video call.
Ashley was caught off guard.
She hadn’t thought of what to say next when Warren’s video call ca in.
She had to return to the entrance of the convenience store to answer Warren’s video call.
In the video, Warren looked even more haggard than in person.
"Hello..."
"Ashley Shaw?"
"Hmm. Did Mark tell you?"
"Yes."
Ashley was about to apologize when Warren preemptively said, "I’m sorry, I didn’t an to make you misunderstand. Next ti I have ti, I’ll apologize to you in person."
Ashley: "?" A question mark slowly erged in her mind.
