"I’m heading off now, you two should get so rest early."

With that said, he simply drove the car around the small flower bed on the right and departed, disappearing from their sight within seconds.

Ariana Grant scratched her head and asked, "Ashley, don’t you feel like Cillian seed really anxious?"

Ashley Shaw shot her a "no duh" look.

"Of course he’s anxious; he has to rush to the hospital. We don’t even know how things are going with Miss Bond."

She had just experienced a concussion not long ago, so she knew all too well how uncomfortable a concussion could be.

Feeling nauseous and about to throw up, her head would stay dizzy as if she were perpetually carsick; it was beyond unpleasant.

"But... on the way here, it didn’t seem like he was that anxious."

"That’s because the two of us were in the car. He had to drive carefully, or else it’d be three lives in the car..."

"Phew, phew, phew! Don’t speak of unlucky things. I searched online, and since we’re going to wear lab coats in the future, we mustn’t say unlucky things."

Ashley Shaw was speechless.

"So that’s all you know about your own field?"

"Of course! Sotis we have to believe in mysticism! But... why do I feel a chill creeping up behind us?"

Ashley Shaw squinted her eyes halfway, "Don’t scare ! I’m not afraid of this stuff."

But she subconsciously glanced back.

In the shadows where the streetlight didn’t quite reach, a dark figure stood silently, seemingly emitting a chilling glow.

Though the outline was fuzzy due to the lighting, it vaguely resembled a human shape.

What made it even more eerie was a little red light in the shadow, flickering like ghostly flas, incredibly frightening.

"Ah—"

Ashley Shaw scread subconsciously, hugging Ariana Grant tightly by her side.

No denying it, Ariana Grant’s sense of security was proportional to her weight.

Instantly, Ashley felt less flustered.

Yet, they both heard Ariana Grant "tsk tsk," and she without turning around said, "Don’t try to scare ; I’m not falling for it!"

Once Ashley cald down, she confird it was a person, not a ghost.

There was sothing eerily familiar about the figure, like... Warren Prescott?

Squinting to take a closer look at the person’s face, Ashley realized it did indeed resemble Warren Prescott.

"Warren?"

t with her gaze, Warren felt a sudden sting in his fingers.

It was from the cigarette butt he forgot to toss, burning his finger.

He instinctively released his hand; the cigarette fell to the ground, scattering so sparks that quickly extinguished and vanished, as if they’d never existed.

Just like the intention he once had to properly talk to Ashley Shaw, to lay everything out in one go, which also seed to disappear alongside.

He thought she was asleep and intended to just sleep in the car tonight, and wait for tomorrow morning when she woke up, he’d have a heart-to-heart with her.

But he never expected she’d get out of Cillian’s car.

Warren’s expression grew increasingly grim.

"What are you doing here?" Ashley Shaw, coming out of her fright, tried to sound as calm as possible.

Warren stepped out from the shadows, standing under the streetlight.

Ashley and Ariana could finally see his face—

Warren’s handso face seed layered with frost.

He unemotionally said, "Just ca to explain sothing to Mrs. Chase."

Ashley rembered Mrs. Chase ntioning her son had bought a house here.

Without doubting him, Ashley nodded and was about to speak when Warren said, "You sure have a lot of energy."

The intense sarcasm in his tone furrowed Ashley’s brow.

"What do you an by that?"

"I an you two just got out of the water, yet still have the heart to go out playing with n."

"What do you an by playing with n? We were..."

Ariana intercepted, pulling Ashley’s hand, and said, "Young Master Prescott, you’ve misunderstood. We went to look for Ms. Grant. But she had sothing co up, so Cillian sent us back."

So they were looking for Brooke.

Brooke, really, what was she doing, dragging two patients out in the middle of the night?

No need to ntion Ariana, Ashley had just been discharged not long ago, so she was barely considered a patient too.

Who knows what Brooke was up to.

Warren remained expressionless and asked, "Middle of the night, why were you looking for her?"

His deanor still cold as ever, yet his tone was noticeably softer.

Ariana quickly replied, "Ms. Grant wasn’t feeling great, so she asked us to keep her company."

Warren’s expression visibly improved.

"Well... Ashley, I’m heading up now, you guys talk."

"Hey..."

Ashley instinctively wanted to grab Ariana.

But Ariana, slippery as a loach, "swoosh," slipped from her grasp, quickly making her way into the apartnt building’s entrance.

Soon, only Ashley Shaw and Warren Prescott were left at the building entrance.

Ashley, wide-eyed and speechless, unsure of what to say.

Hastily, she threw out a, "You should head back early too, I’m going up now," then turned to leave.

"Wait."

Warren stretched out his long arm, blocking her path.

This old apartnt entrance was so narrow that Ariana had to turn sideways to pass through; let alone Warren’s long arm blocking the way.

In no position to proceed, Ashley stopped and t Warren’s gaze.

"Anything else?"

"Why didn’t you reply to my WeChat?"

Stunned for a mont, Ashley rembered that after Warren last ssaged, her phone had died.

"My phone ran out of battery."

"Why didn’t you charge it?"

"The charger disappeared."

"Just a coincidence?"

What’s the implication? He thought she was lying?

Ashley was extrely speechless.

"I did bring the charger, but after it died, I couldn’t find it. Still can’t find it now."

Seeing Ashley’s obvious frustration, Warren realized she wasn’t brushing him off.

"In the future, make sure your phone is charged before going out."

"... I know."

"Now can you answer ?"

Ashley’s mind spun, blurting out, "Answer what?"

Warren stared at her, lowering his voice, reminding her, "The last thing I sent."

Suddenly, Ashley rembered Warren’s last ssage was "Do I really seem like that kind of person to you?"

Warren saw her expression and knew she recalled what he had sent last.

"Answer ."

Ashley choked up, forced a dry smile, and said, "Of course not... I-I just thought you were mad."

"Why would I be mad?"

"Didn’t you say Leon Zeller lost a lot of fans?"

"That’s Leon Zeller’s own doing with revealing his relationship, what does that have to do with you? You didn’t hold a knife to his neck forcing him to say those things, why would I be mad at you?"

Ashley choked again.

Seems... that’s indeed the case.

Warren continued, "Next ti, don’t bla people without clarifying the situation. The wrongfully accused may feel so aggrieved they can’t sleep."

Ashley’s eyelids twitched.

Was he saying he was so aggrieved he couldn’t sleep?

Could it be that Warren didn’t actually co looking for Mrs. Chase, but ca because she didn’t respond, so he ca directly?
