The two boys looked full of regret.

"We really never paid attention to what she looked like before because she always had her head down reading."

"If I’d known earlier, I would’ve asked her out before college entrance exams. It’s definitely too late now."

May Lee felt increasingly uncomfortable listening to the three of them discuss.

It was like a small thorn stuck in her throat, not very painful, but every swallow was unbearable.

She saw Ashley Shaw pulling out a chair and sitting down, acting as if she hadn’t heard the other three’s conversation, which made her feel sick.

Such an act!

She suddenly chuckled coldly and said, "Ashley Shaw, which hospital did you get your surgery at?"

The mont she said it, another girl instantly understood.

This was to say Ashley Shaw had plastic surgery.

But with such a big change, perhaps she really did get plastic surgery?

It’s been about a month since the exams ended, and a month’s recovery period would indeed show no signs.

Ashley Shaw lifted her head, her eyes clouded with confusion, and reflexively replied, "Westcroft Central Hospital."

May Lee was a bit surprised to hear Ashley admit it so directly.

But her lips soon curled into a sneer.

"I thought so. How could soone change so much in such a short ti? Your doctor has pretty good skills. But, even if you change dramatically, it’s all pointless."

"May...just let it go, we’ve already graduated," a nearby girl whispered.

May Lee gave her a reassuring look.

"Don’t worry, I’m just giving her so friendly advice as a classmate, not stirring trouble!"

"But speaking of which, like the saying goes, even if a sparrow flies up a branch, it’s still just a cheap sparrow."

"Instead of trying hard to please n, why not make yourself more accomplished?"

"I suggest, instead of wasting ti and money in a hospital, that you settle down and repeat the year, strive for better grades."

"That way, you might actually impress people and they’ll look at you differently."

"What do you say, Ashley Shaw?"

Ashley had been distracted by other thoughts and couldn’t imdiately process it.

Locking eyes with May Lee’s deeply mocking gaze, she finally realized that when May ntioned "surgery," it wasn’t the vision correction surgery.

She felt quite embarrassed at that mont.

What nonsense did she just blurt out?

This misunderstanding required more effort to explain now.

"May Lee, you misunderstood, the hospital I ntioned was..."

Before she could finish, a round figure appeared at the doorway.

It was Ariana Grant.

"Ashley!"

"Ariana? Why are you here? Didn’t you text saying Ms. Wright made you stay back for cleaning?"

"I just rembered, I have your stuff with , so I rushed to bring it to you."

Ariana spoke as she took three bottles of eye drops out of her bag.

"Here, it’s your post-surgery eye drops for your vision correction."

Ashley reached out to take them, saying, "You could’ve kept them in your bag, I’m not in a hurry to use them."

"I was just worried sothing might co up at school later, and I wouldn’t have ti to give them to you. You need them in an hour, don’t you? So I thought I’d bring them over now."

"Alright, I’ll just keep them with . Are you okay with the cleaning? Need my help?"

"No need, just doing a quick tidy up. I’m leaving now, bye!"

Ariana waved and left, not fully realizing the scene she’d beco part of.

Ashley put the eye drops in her bag, then turned to look at the four people in the classroom.

The way they looked at her had completely changed.

Nobody here was foolish, the mont the eye drops appeared, they understood what Ashley actually ant by Westcroft Central Hospital.

They finally ca to realize that Westcroft Central Hospital doesn’t even do costic surgery.

For a mont, May Lee’s face felt hot, like she’d been slapped.

"Why didn’t you clear up you didn’t get surgery sooner? Are you ssing with ?" May Lee clenched her fists, trying to reverse the bla.

Ashley didn’t bother saying more to her, acting like she hadn’t heard.

But this reaction made May Lee even angrier, breaking down her facade.

"Ashley Shaw! Were you ssing with on purpose just now?"

Ashley impatiently lifted her eyelids.

"I don’t have ti to ss with you."

"You—" May Lee still wanted to push further, but the girl next to her pulled her back.

"Let it go, you’re not going to see her again. Also, didn’t you do pretty well this ti? No matter what you still beat her. No need to hold onto this little grudge. Getting into your dream college, you should be happy."

May Lee relented under the advice.

She let out a cold laugh, raising her voice on purpose: "You’re right, people like us who study seriously will always have more promise than soone who just chases guys."

"Enough, say no more. Co with to buy a bottle of water, let’s go."

The girl hooked her arm into May Lee’s, pulling her out.

The classroom finally quieted down.

Ashley was just thinking about taking a nap when the two boys ca over to her.

"Ashley Shaw?"

"Sothing you need?" Ashley’s voice was calm, betraying no emotion.

The two boys exchanged looks, then one spoke up: "We made a group chat for the class after our exams and realized you weren’t in it. Can we add you now?"

As if worried Ashley might refuse, the boy quickly added: "Just in case the school has anything that requires us to co back, that way everyone can stay connected."

Ashley imdiately took out her phone, ready to scan the code.

They really didn’t need to worry.

It was just joining a group chat, her WeChat wasn’t that special. Even without his explanation, she would join.

The boy quickly took out the group’s QR code.

With a "beep," WeChat notified her of joining a new group chat.

There were 37 people in total in the class, and now 37 people in the group.

Which ant, until now, she was the only one not added.

Ashley felt no particular emotions, but the two boys seed a bit embarrassed.

"You transferred in, and weren’t in our original QQ group, so when we made this group we forgot to add you."

Whether it was truly forgotten or intentional, Ashley didn’t want to ponder too much, she smiled and said: "It’s alright, thank you."

The two boys’ ears turned red.

People are visual creatures, after all.

Everyone used to wear uniforms, looking pretty much the sa at a glance.

Now that everyone had on their own clothes, appearances stood out more.

At this mont, all three of their phones buzzed simultaneously.

It was a ssage from the newly joined group chat.

[Heard soone in our class ranked in the province’s top 20, who was it? Class rep, is it you?]

"Whoa?? Top twenty in the province? Is the class rep that aweso?"

The two boys’ attention was drawn to the WeChat notification.

Ashley turned her phone to silent mode and got up: "You guys busy, I’m stepping out for a bit."

With that, she exited the classroom and headed upstairs to Ariana’s class.
