Although the end of work was late, at least the outpatient departnt is better than the ergency room since you can have a bit of a break at noon.

The afternoon clinic continued, and Xiao Li began to get busy for the entire afternoon again.

The afternoon was busier than the morning because two unexpected patients arrived, so Dr. Jiang imdiately arranged for them to be hospitalized after the examination.

Had Xiao Li not worked in the ergency departnt before, she really would have been exhausted...

When she was off work and arrived at the outpatient building, Xiao Li saw Qin Xiao and bitterly smiled: "Uncle, I feel I was a bit too naive before."

Qin Xiao smiled as he opened the car door for her. After she got in, Qin Xiao finally said, "Are you tired? If you can’t take it, just rest for a while."

Xiao Li shook her head, "I can handle it, no matter how exhausted, it’s not as tiring as the ergency room; it’s just not as easy as I imagined before."

Qin Xiao reached out and stroked her head, then started the car to drive ho, "Mom and Dad arrived in the afternoon; they’re waiting at ho now."

Xiao Li nodded, "Mom and Dad ca, and I didn’t go to pick them up..."

Qin Xiao laughed, "You’re an intern; it’s hard to change shifts, they understand.

What’s more, I’m free and didn’t pick up Mom and Dad either! They never tell which flight they take; showing up directly at the doorstep is their style."

Hearing this, Xiao Li covered her mouth and laughed softly; indeed, Qin’s father and mother would do sothing like this.

Lately, Xiao Li has been chatting a lot with Qin’s mother via video, gradually getting to understand her personality. Qin’s mother is kind, straightforward, and dislikes fake formalities...

The car soon drove into the neighborhood and parked; the two took the elevator upstairs, only to find Qin’s mother waiting at the door...

Qin Xiao’s duplex apartnt is one unit per floor, and the entrance door faces the elevator, so when it opens, you can see the person at the doorstep.

Seeing Xiao Li, Qin’s mother walked over and held her hand, "I’ve been waiting for Qin to pick you up for a while, thinking you should be back soon so I ca out to take a look, and you really returned.

Co...get inside, Aunt Wu made sothing delicious for you."

This ti Qin’s mother brought Aunt Wu from C City over because, after all, Aunt Wu has lived in C City for many years. Considering Xiao Li is pregnant, if she craves hotown cuisine, Aunt Wu’s culinary skills won’t be wasted.

Xiao Li smiled as she followed Qin’s mother into the house; as soon as she entered, she slled a familiar aroma and suddenly felt hungry.

The family chatted and laughed during dinner and idly chatted for a while afterward before each retired to their room to rest.

Ti flew by swiftly; Xiao Li soon rotated through all the departnts of general internal dicine and has been interning at the hospital for over six months now.

Next, she only needed to complete her internship in nephrology before she could intern in surgery.

And her belly was already nearly eight months pregnant.

Xiao Li thought of finishing her nephrology internship before taking a break, and after the child was born, she would continue her surgical internship...

This day, Xiao Li ca to the nephrology departnt as usual for her shift. Today, she needed to follow her ntor, Dr. Tian, for a peak outpatient shift duty; however, before going to the clinic, she had to first do rounds with Dr. Tian, then around ten o’clock head to the peak outpatient clinic.

At the nephrology departnt ward, Xiao Li stood by the nurse station chatting idly with the nurses while waiting for Dr. Tian.

Nurse Qi glanced at Xiao Li’s belly, curiously asked, "When do you plan to take a break?

Your belly’s quite big; isn’t it tiring to work while pregnant?"

Xiao Li smiled, "It’s manageable, just that by the end of the day, my back aches terribly.

I also plan to rest; I only have the nephrology internship left in general internal dicine. Since I can still handle it now, I want to finish my internship in general internal dicine, so that when I co back after the baby’s born, I can directly head to surgery."

Nurse Qi nodded, "That sounds reasonable. You won’t need to intern in nephrology for many more days, right?"

Xiao Li laughed, "Just three more days, and then I’m resting."

As the two chatted, Dr. Tian arrived, and Xiao Li quickly followed him for rounds.

After rounds, followed him to peak outpatient; everything was normal at first, most patients seeking Dr. Tian for treatnt were long-term patients returning for a check-up.

But just as Dr. Tian was performing routine checks and prescribing dicine for a follow-up patient, chaos suddenly erupted behind the line waiting for examinations...

Screams resounded continuously; Xiao Li hadn’t even reacted before she saw a man coming at Dr. Tian with a knife.

Dr. Tian quickly dodged upon seeing this, causing chaos in the consultation room, while the man wielding the knife rushed directly toward Xiao Li in the chaos...

He ca too fast for Xiao Li to dodge; as the knife slashed towards her, she only managed to turn around to protect her belly with her back...

When the pain hit her back, Xiao Li realized she had been cut by the knife. Despite the intense pain in her back, she stubbornly escaped...

While fleeing, Xiao Li felt her back sliced by the knife again, followed by others’ screams ringing...

Sustaining two consecutive cuts, Xiao Li’s vision started to blacken, her belly ached, but she pushed herself to keep moving forward, oblivious of how far the knife-wielding man was from her.

She only knew if she stopped, both she and the baby would be in danger.

Having barely co back to life, living so happily with Qin Xiao now, she didn’t want to die, nor could she let anything happen to her baby...

Just as Xiao Li forced herself to run a few more steps forward, Qin Xiao’s figure appeared, and at the mont she saw him, she finally blacked out...

Learning sothing had happened at the peak outpatient clinic, Qin Xiao at the fourth-floor laboratory rushed to the scene knowing Xiao Li should be there today...

Just as he arrived, he saw Xiao Li collapse, covered in blood. Holding her as she fell, Qin Xiao felt his heart stop.

He couldn’t hear the surroundings, couldn’t see the people around, consud wholly by the image of blood-soaked Xiao Li in his arms...

It wasn’t until soone tried to pull Xiao Li from his arms, did he snap out of it, hurriedly placed her onto an available patient trolley, and wheeled her towards the operating room...

As Xiao Li was taken into the operating room, Qin Xiao stood outside staring at his blood-stained hands, feeling cold to the bone.

The coldness froze his entire body.

When the nurse brought the surgical consent form for him to sign, he found himself unable even to grasp the pen...

Xiao Li’s back had two cuts, and her fleeing aggravated her pregnancy, making the fetal heartbeat extrely unstable. Therefore, along with stitching her wounds, they needed to conduct a cesarean section...

Inside the operating room, personnel from obstetrics, surgery, and pediatrics were all present.
