After chatting for a while longer, the two of them went directly to the doctor’s duty room.
"Starting your shift today, are you up for it?" Bai Yu asked.
Xiao Li nodded, "Sure thing!"
In the office, Bai Yu called Doctor Fang straight away and asked her to assign two of her patients to Xiao Li.
Doctor Fang, upon hearing about the patient distribution, happily handed over her patients to Xiao Li.

Xiao Li went to change her clothes first, then picked up the dical records of the patients assigned to her as she headed to the ward. She needed to ask so questions to quickly understand the patients’ condition. Reading the dical records is one thing, but it’s also important to speak to the patients face to face.
The dical records docunt the patient’s journey from the initial examination to their daily treatnt records, but asking the patient allows for a more accurate understanding of their current condition. It also prevents situations where sothing might not be recorded in the dical records. If you don’t ask, you might overlook it, right?
As Xiao Li walked to the ward, Shao Yu happened to co out of one room. Seeing Xiao Li, she laughed, "Xiao Li, you started working at the hospital without telling us beforehand. Trying to surprise us, huh?
Wenwen isn’t here today. If she knew you were back, she’d be over the moon."
Xiao Li smiled, "It was a last-minute decision to return to the hospital, so I didn’t tell you guys in advance. I’ll go see the patients first, and we can chat later."
"Sure, go on ahead!"
The two parted ways. Xiao Li headed to the ward, while Shao Yu started to ssage soone on her phone. At the last mont, she deleted it instead.
Forget it, let that girl have a surprise tomorrow!
The first day’s work went smoothly. None of the patients had any unexpected issues. In the evening, after handing over her shift promptly, Xiao Li got off work.
At the entrance of the inpatient departnt, Qin Xiao was already waiting. As soon as Xiao Li ca out, she headed straight to him.
"Uncle, how long have you been here?"
Qin Xiao smiled, tucking her bangs behind her ear, "Not too long. Just like before, I left twenty minutes early, reached here in ten minutes, so as long as you finish work on ti, I only have to wait for ten minutes."
As they chatted, they got into the car. Once on the road, Qin Xiao asked how Xiao Li felt about her first day of work.
"It felt great! My cousin was worried I might get too tired, so he kindly eased in, allowing to take it easy for the first half-month as a transition. So it wasn’t tiring at all."
That wasn’t a lie from Xiao Li, because not every newly hired Doctor gets this kind of treatnt, especially when the hospital is short-staffed.
Take Shao Yu and Yue Wenwen, for instance. They started a few days earlier, but it hasn’t been easy for them. The reason Yue Wenwen wasn’t on duty today is that she just finished a long shift — twenty-four hours without rest — and only got to rest this morning. Tomorrow she has another long shift.
Qin Xiao nodded with satisfaction, acknowledging that this guy knows what’s up.
The next day, as Xiao Li got off the car, she imdiately spotted Yue Wenwen walking ahead and went up to pat her on the shoulder.
Yue Wenwen was eating a bun at that mont and nearly choked because of the pat.
Xiao Li didn’t expect her to be eating and quickly patted her back when she almost choked.
"Wenwen, are you okay? It’s my fault for startling you." Xiao Li asked with concern as she patted.
Yue Wenwen swallowed the bun and asked, "Cough... I’m fine, sis. How co you’re here? Are you not feeling well?"
Xiao Li shook her head, "No, I’m perfectly fine. What about you? Why are you eating a bun while walking? You’re a doctor; you should know that’s not good."
"I know! But I woke up late this morning and was going to be late, so I ate as I walked."
Talking about being late made Yue Wenwen anxious imdiately, "Sis, I’m going to be late. I have to go now, let’s catch up later!"
Saying this, she hurried off.
Xiao Li checked the ti and thought, there’s still fifteen minutes left! Does this girl really need to be in such a hurry?
Shaking her head, Xiao Li also headed into the inpatient departnt. By the ti she reached the elevator, Yue Wenwen was already riding it up.
Getting off the elevator, Yue Wenwen dashed into the dressing room to change, and the nurses there weren’t surprised by her whirlwind appearance.
Since Doctor Yue first reported for duty and arrived just on the dot, getting scolded by the head, she’s made it a point to arrive early every day. She set her work arrival ti ten minutes earlier than others, hustling to change her clothes because only when she was ready to work did she feel everything was in order.
To say Doctor Yue was having so bad luck, the day she reported to duty, the previous night shift, several patients were lost in the ward, putting the head in a bad mood, which is why she got scolded.
On any other day, as long as you weren’t late, the head wouldn’t say anything. Even an occasional late arrival wouldn’t get you scolded.
Xiao Li took the elevator up, walked into the departnt, and greeted everyone with a smile, "Good morning."
"Morning, Doctor Xiao."
She exchanged greetings on her way to the dressing room, but at the dressing room door, she bumped into Yue Wenwen, who had already changed clothes.
Yue Wenwen looked at Xiao Li in a daze, "Sis... you..."
Xiao Li smiled, "I’ll change clothes first. I’ll talk to you in a bit."
After passing her, Xiao Li entered the dressing room to change, then ca back out once done.
Yue Wenwen didn’t rush to the office like usual but waited quietly in the corridor.
Xiao Li, after changing, ca out to see her. Yue Wenwen was looking at her with bright eyes, "Sis, are you working here too now?"
Xiao Li chuckled, nodding, "Yes, I just started yesterday. You happened to be off."
"Wow... that’s amazing! We can work together, sis."
Yue Wenwen was truly excited. It wasn’t her first ti working with Xiao Li, as during internships, they would occasionally be on duty together.
But working together in this hospital felt different.
She once went through near-death experiences at this hospital, and it was Xiao Li and her colleagues who saved her.
Now, she’s no longer a patient but has beco a doctor like them, able to save lives alongside them, which made her feel so thrilled.
When her internship ended, and this hospital chose to keep her, she could hardly believe it because staying here without capability is quite challenging.
Because of this, she was too excited to sleep the night before reporting and woke up late the next day, which got her scolded when she arrived at the hospital.
Since then, she always arrives a bit early. Everyone thinks it’s because she fears being scolded, but it’s not. She just doesn’t want those who once saved her life to see her not living up to it.
Because most of the colleagues here were the ones back then, she wants them to know that the person they saved is doing well and can now fight shoulder to shoulder with them.
