A streak of multicolored light flashed, and Lin ngjie was already standing beside the two of them. The mont her body neared them, a powerful, oppressive force swept over them, seemingly vast enough to cover the sky and envelop the earth.
Shangguan You felt warmth course through her body as a gentle, warm stream flowed into her, causing the turbulent blood and qi within her to vanish without a trace in an instant. Shangguan You’s eyes widened as she stared at Lin ngjie. Just monts ago, Lin ngjie’s aura had been threatening her life. How could she possibly be helping heal now?
"ngjie, you’re ngjie, aren’t you?" Shangguan Hao exclaid, looking at Lin ngjie, who was so close. He was so excited that he completely forgot about the cold, despite wearing only a thin layer of clothing.
Lin ngjie cast a fleeting glance at Shangguan Hao and waved her hands; Shangguan You was instantly by her side. She did not respond to Shangguan Hao’s words, nor did she say anything to him. In Lin ngjie’s eyes, Shangguan Hao was just an ordinary man, a commoner with no connection to her whatsoever—not even a tangential one.
"ngjie, why won’t you speak? Are you still angry with about the past? Nothing happened between Li Wanying and . You have to believe , I never ant to wrong you!" Shangguan Hao pleaded, looking at his wife and daughter. They felt so distant, and the gap between them seed to be widening. His wife’s coldness and indifference filled this iron-willed man with a fear he had never known before.
"Daddy, she’s not Mommy," Shangguan You said softly, seeing Shangguan Hao’s desperate expression and witnessing a side of him she had never seen before. The Lin ngjie in front of us now is the Guardian of this dinsion, not my mommy.
"You silly girl, she is your mommy!" Shangguan Hao declared with renewed conviction. Even if Lin ngjie were reduced to ashes, he would recognize her. Though their marriage hadn’t been long, her image was deeply, indelibly etched in his mind. Shangguan Hao looked at the Lin ngjie before him and struggled to take a step forward. He wanted to reach out, to touch her face, but his limbs felt as if they weighed a thousand pounds. He managed only that single step, beads of sweat forming on his forehead, before he found himself unable to move further, his gaze fixed on Lin ngjie.
"I am not Lin ngjie," Lin ngjie’s indifferent voice rang out, each word, each sentence clearly reaching Shangguan Hao’s ears, reaffirming what Shangguan You had said. "Co down," Lin ngjie commanded coldly. With a wave of her hands, she sent two streaks of multicolored light flinging outwards. Two figures landed, one to their left and one to their right. These two were none other than Zhuge Feng and Ye Ershao. They had clearly witnessed the intense battle between Shangguan You and Lin ngdou monts before.
"ngjie, it’s so good that you’re awake," Zhuge Feng said, attempting to step forward. But Lin ngjie reflexively retreated a few paces, looking at him with the eyes of a stranger. Zhuge Feng’s heart ached. Seventeen years, all for a cold, indifferent gaze, treating worse than a stranger. "Zhuge Feng, do you know why it took a full seventeen years to awaken?" Lin ngjie’s icy gaze t his. She didn’t seem to understand his pain, or perhaps she didn’t care. She only knew that this man before her was deeply connected to why she had remained asleep for so long.
"ngjie, I truly did my best," Zhuge Feng said with difficulty. Is ngjie blaming for not waking her sooner? But I never knew there was another Lin ngjie in this world, nor that she would only awaken when both were together. If I had known earlier, I would have paid any price to rouse her, not let her slumber for seventeen years.
"If it weren’t for Uncle Feng, you would have been dead for seventeen years," Shangguan You said softly, looking at Zhuge Feng’s pained expression and trying to explain on his behalf. This Lin ngjie seems so strange. Is she my mommy, or isn’t she? It’s a peculiar feeling, one I can’t quite articulate, yet I can sense it now.
"I know," Lin ngjie nodded. She glanced at Shangguan You before turning her gaze to the other three. With a wave of her hands, the multicolored light surrounding her dissipated, and the oppressive heaviness in the air vanished along with it.
Shangguan Hao felt a lightness wash over him; the suffocating pressure he had felt monts before dissipated just as quickly.
"Are you Lin ngjie? The Guardian of this dinsion?" Ye Ershao couldn’t help but step forward, looking at the Lin ngjie who bore a six-tenths resemblance to Shangguan You, and asked coldly.
"I am the Guardian, but I am not Lin ngjie," Lin ngjie glanced at Ye Ershao and responded with equal coldness. Her voice was icy and stiff, perhaps a result of her prolonged slumber.
"You’re not Lin ngjie? Then where is the real Lin ngjie? Where is my mommy?" Shangguan You frowned slightly, her voice subdued.
"There has never been anyone nad Lin ngjie in this mortal realm, yet you are indeed my daughter," Lin ngjie stated, her words once again shocking. With a wave of her hand, a droplet of fresh blood appeared on her palm—it was the very bead of blood Shangguan You had coughed up monts before. Shangguan You’s eyes widened as she watched the blood bead gradually rge into Lin ngjie’s fingers until it disappeared completely.
"Do you know why I fought you just now?" Lin ngjie asked, looking at Shangguan You. Shangguan You shook her head. Does she believe I’m her daughter because my blood can rge into her body? But even if she needed my blood, there was no need to injure so severely only to heal afterward. Was it a case of giving a slap and then a sweet date?
But why doesn’t she admit she’s Lin ngjie, yet she acknowledges she’s my mommy? My mommy is Lin ngjie, isn’t she? There’s no doubt about it!
"As Guardians, our mission is to safeguard this dinsion. Ever since my mories began, my duty has been to protect this place, preventing anything that doesn’t belong to this dinsion from compromising its safety. For as long as I can rember, I have been asleep in the Crystal Coffin."
"This dinsion is the weakest of all. Compared to other dinsions, the humans here are far too weak. Even the Cultivators here are among the weakest beings in existence. This dinsion is constantly at risk of intrusion from beings or objects from other dinsions, which makes my mission critically important. I had never failed; no one had ever breached this place. That held true until two hundred years ago. Then, soone from another dinsion managed to defeat , inflict grievous injuries, and break through, becoming a resident here."
