"You may all continue. I can wait for you to sort out your own issues before we deal with ours." Sensing the gazes that seed to want to swallow her whole, Shangguan You smiled faintly, casually crossed one leg over the other, and leaned back comfortably on the sofa, an amused smile playing on her lips as she watched the people before her.
How fortunes change.
"Shangguan You, what are you doing here?" Shen Jia’s face alternated between red and white as she roared at Shangguan You.
"I’m here to collect my shares, naturally. And I have you to thank for that. Otherwise, how could I have gained several hundred million more and thirty percent of the shares, heh?" Shangguan You said with a smile, ignoring Shen Jia’s furious outburst.
"You!" Shen Jia choked with anger. Feeling Shen Cheng’s repressed and icy stare, she swallowed back the curses on the tip of her tongue and hid behind Duan i.
"Miss Shangguan, Jiajia is young and doesn’t understand the gravity of the situation. Why bother arguing with her over such trivial matters?" Duan i took a deep breath, addressing Shangguan You with forced warmth in her voice.
"Indeed, Miss Shangguan," Shen Congming chid in, suppressing his myriad emotions and forcing a smile. "And considering your family’s current standing, if word of you making a fuss over such a small matter were to get out, it would tarnish the Shangguan Family’s reputation. The Shangguan Family’s future could be ruined at your hands."
"No need for any of you to worry. This isn’t sothing you should be concerned about." Shangguan You sneered. Embezzlent and bribery? Trying to use that as leverage? Dream on.
"Hmph, Shangguan You, do you really intend to drag the entire Shangguan Family down just because of yourself? If you dare to take the Shen Family’s shares today, by tomorrow, every network and television channel will reveal evidence of the Shangguan Family’s abuse of power! Then I’ll see how arrogant and smug you can be! Just you wait to be hauled before a military tribunal for investigation and be stripped of everything!" Shen Jia threatened.
Shangguan You looked at Shen Jia and her family as if they were imbeciles.
"Alright, everyone go back. Aunt, you tidy up here. Jiajia, you take Wanqian ho. Uncle, go get the contract," Shen Cheng ordered. He took several deep breaths, not daring to look at Wanqian again. He’d lost enough face today to fill the Pacific Ocean.
His office was filled with his dical records and Wanqian’s. If anyone else saw them, Shen Cheng’s career would be over. Thus, he could only entrust this task to his closest relatives.
"Shen Cheng, you have to believe ," Wanqian said tearfully, casting a resentful glance at Shangguan You. To be so humiliated in front of a girl barely in her teens!
Shen Cheng’s cold gaze alone was enough to silence Shen Qian, stopping her from saying anything more.
"Go back. We’ll discuss everything when I return," Shen Cheng said coldly. He pulled a confidential docunt from a drawer and walked over to Shangguan You.
The iciness on his face receded as he attempted to resu his usual gentle deanor, but his ashen complexion betrayed his inner turmoil.
"Miss Shangguan, I apologize for the spectacle. Let’s go to the conference room to discuss this," Shen Cheng said, his tone strictly business.
"Alright," Shangguan You nodded. Under Shen Jia’s hateful gaze, she walked into the adjacent conference room. Duan i, anwhile, scrambled to clear away the incriminating items. None of these things can be seen by anyone else; otherwise, both Shen Cheng and the Shen Family will be ruined.
"Sister Wanqian, let’s go back," Shen Jia urged.
"No, I’ll wait here for Shen Cheng," Wanqian shook her head, her face sowhat pale. She began to help Duan i clean up, then sat on the sofa, staring at Shen Cheng’s dical records in her hands.
Duan i shook her head, having Shen Jia accompany Wanqian while she attended to her own tasks. Shen Congming stole a glance at Wanqian, his heart aching at the sight of her small, pale face. After all, the child inside her was his!
Even though he had Shen Jia, deep down, he still longed for a son. He hadn’t expected to beco a father again. While he was overjoyed, he was also terrified. What if Shen Cheng found out that he was the one who had cuckolded him?
And what if Shen Cheng insisted on aborting the child? This was a child he had finally obtained with great difficulty! With these thoughts weighing heavily on his mind, Shen Congming left the office. He snuck one last glance at Wanqian before heading towards the conference room where Shen Cheng and the others were.
"Miss Shangguan, although the contract clearly stipulates the terms, we have always kept your room reserved for you."
"Mr. Shen, I have a recording of your employees’ conversation. Whatever you say now is useless. Besides, my lawyer will be arriving shortly. You can discuss matters with him then," Shangguan You cut Shen Cheng off coldly.
"Miss Shangguan, we can offer two billion to buy back the shares you hold. How about that?"
"Mr. Shen, I conduct all my affairs strictly according to the contract. If you are dissatisfied or disagree, we can settle this in court," Shangguan You replied with a cold sneer.
"Miss Shangguan—"
"I’m sorry, but if you’re going to waste ti with such pointless talk, I don’t have ti for this nonsense. I have other matters to attend to. I’ve already fully authorized my representative, Mr. Ye An, to handle everything here," Shangguan You stated coldly. Just then, the tall figure of Ye An approached.
"Mr. Shen, hello. I am Ye An, and this is our lawyer," Ye An said, nodding to Shangguan You before addressing Shen Cheng politely. The lawyer beside him adjusted his gold-rimd glasses and greeted them courteously.
Shen Cheng’s expression turned even uglier than when he had first learned about Wanqian’s pregnancy. He shook hands with Ye An, then made a call to have his own lawyer co upstairs. Since they couldn’t reach a private settlent, they would have to resort to legal ans.
A voice suddenly spoke in her ear, "You little brat, that kid wants to kill you."
"So what? He can barely protect himself right now, let alone find the ans to kill ," Shangguan You sneered, clearly annoyed by Second Young Master Ye’s voice. She sat down to the side, fiddling with her phone as she uploaded a segnt of the private video.
After giving a few instructions, she swept out under everyone’s gaze. Shen Cheng might not agree now, but once the Shen Family’s stock price plumted, she doubted he would have the gall to file a lawsuit.
