With a loud BANG, the room exploded into chaos.
Shangguan You’s figure flashed. She quickly moved from her original spot and leaped towards the water source. She kicked away so people in front of the water pipe, snatched it, and directed the water towards the ground. Only after the entire floor was drenched did she drop the water pipe and swiftly leap towards where Shangguan Hao and the others were surrounded.
She could hear the screams and shouts in the room clearly. Wiping the sweat from her forehead, Shangguan You quickly ford hand seals and cast a Stasis Curse.
I only have one minute, she thought. No matter what, I have to rescue my family from the blaze—not a single one can be left behind!
With ti halted, everyone and everything, including the raging fire, froze. Shangguan You’s deep eyes flashed as she stared at the motionless inferno.
"Ice Seal Thousand Miles," Shangguan You uttered softly. The Water Elent at her fingertips rapidly turned the entire ground and even the sea of fire into ice. The crystal-clear icy world reflected the towering flas of the inferno.
"Water Chains," Shangguan You whispered again. The Water Elent moved with visible speed, piercing through the ice. It then shot towards the people inside the room, countless chains of water splitting off to wrap around everyone.
A minute was very short, too short to accomplish much. The Water Chains had just wrapped around the people in the room, who were still trapped within the inferno, when Shangguan You felt her Stasis Curse was about to expire. If ti resus now, they’ll all be burned alive! she realized. No matter what, I can’t let ti start moving again!
Her hands rapidly ford seals in mid-air, and she cast another Stasis Curse. She felt the Spiritual Energy within her gradually dwindling. Her chest felt tight, and her strength was waning. The Stasis Curse can only be used once a day, she thought, dismayed. Casting it twice in succession... this is my limit.
Ti stood still once again. The Water Elent, swirling in mid-air, wrapped around them one by one, pulling them out of the frozen inferno in a spread-eagled formation.
"Pull them out! Quickly! Don’t miss anyone!" Shangguan You urged, continuously channeling Spiritual Energy into the chains. With a series of CRACKING sounds, holes broke open in the frozen inferno. The Water Elent pulled people straight through these openings to safety, then returned to Shangguan You’s side. Looking at her family’s horrified, worried, and anxious expressions, she felt an inexplicable ache in her chest and a sweet taste in her mouth.
"Unseal," Shangguan You called out softly. The Ice Seal slowly began to lt, gradually suppressing the fire.
"Ice Seal Thousand Miles."
"Unseal."
Shangguan You alternated between rescuing people and extinguishing the blaze. Ice could turn into water, which in turn could douse the flas.
"Dad, Brother Qing, Uncle, Aunt, Grandfather," Shangguan You cried, looking at her family’s red, burned skin. Tears stread down her face.
She took out Jade Dew Pills and health preservation pills, feeding them to everyone one by one. Only then did she breathe a sigh of relief. Suddenly, her entire body felt weak. I want to save the Yu Family next, she thought, but I need to rest a bit first.
With another loud BANG, ti started moving again. The contained fire flared up once more, its flas reaching for the sky.
Water Elent, return, Shangguan You silently chanted. The Water Elent that had solidified into ice quickly flowed back into her body. The holes in the ice, through which the people had escaped, vanished in an instant. Those who had been frozen began to move again, frantically resuming their efforts to fight the fire.
"Grandfather, Dad, Uncle, Aunt, Brother Qing, Grandma! Wake up! Please wake up!" Shangguan You cried, hearing the pained shouts around her. She shook her father, Shangguan Hao, then threw herself into his embrace.
"What’s this?" Shangguan Qing asked, puzzled. Just now, in the blaze, I clearly felt death’s approach, he thought. But how did we all end up outside? And everyone who was in the room... they’re all out here too?
"Who rescued us? COUGH, COUGH, COUGH." Shangguan Hao and the others started coughing violently, having inhaled too much smoke. They had thought they were going to die, but now, against all odds, they had sohow escaped.
"Dad, all of you, drink so water first," Shangguan You said, taking out Spring Water from her storage space. She gave it to the Shangguan Family mbers to drink. This Spring Water also had beautifying effects and was beneficial for health; it was perfect for them. After a short while, their complexions slowly began to improve.
After drinking the water and taking in their surroundings, everyone gradually recovered from the shock of the fire. Shangguan Hao hugged Shangguan You tightly. He felt the joy of having regained what was lost, the sensation of being revived from the brink of death.
"Girl," Shangguan Hao said, his voice thick with emotion, "we’re so glad we can still be with you. You’re not alone. You’re not by yourself."
"Dad, you’ll all always be with ," Shangguan You choked out, tears welling in her eyes. "I’ll never be alone. All of you will live long and healthy lives." She could clearly feel Shangguan Hao’s arms trembling as he held her. Just monts ago, not only Shangguan Hao but probably everyone else had thought they were going to die. Now, they savored the feeling of having narrowly escaped the grave.
"Girl," Shangguan Hao murmured again.
"Aunt, Uncle, Grandfather," Shangguan You acknowledged, forcing back her tears as she looked at her family.
"AH! AH! My hand! My hand!" Screams erupted nearby. The mbers of the Yu Family were waking up, though they were still in bad shape. They were all coughing violently. Yu Zijin, in particular, shrieked; half of her long hair was burned off, and her once jade-like hands were now charred and bloody—a horrifying sight.
"Youyou, go check on them quickly!" Shangguan Zhi urged, snapping to his senses. Seeing Yu Zhibin’s distressed expression, he spoke with anxiety. "The Yu Family and the Shangguan Family are now on the sa side. Where there’s one, there’s the other. Since our enemies have made their move, we must stand united!"
"I know, Grandfather. You all rest for a mont. I’ll save them," Shangguan You said, suppressing the coppery taste of blood rising in her throat. She quickly moved towards the Yu Family mbers. With a flash of gold, a Golden Needle from her hand was swiftly inserted into Yu Zhibin’s body. Imdiately after, she fed him a Jade Dew Pill and a health preservation pill.
