Kaden's eyes widened. An egg sac. "You have got to be kidding ?!"
A million thoughts filled his brain. Did the injured dragon run all the way over here to heal itself? Is this egg sac another evolution? Was it going to beco a lot stronger after this evolution? Or maybe it was going to heal itself to its full potential?
None of this was essentially good news to him. This did not bode well at all for him. This was a disaster. If he did not have a death sentence already hanging over his head, he would have freaked out a lot more.
Kaden's mind raced as he watched the obsidian-black egg sac pulse faintly within the molten pool. His gut churned with unease.
To make matters worse, the damned magma snake was guarding the egg. The Magma Serpent would obliterate him if it caught him anywhere near its nest. Would he be able to face the magma serpent in his dragon form?
Probably, but it was at best 50-50. He did not want to trigger it without at least an 80% chance of winning.
Kaden exhaled sharply, forcing himself to think. There was no point in freaking out. That was not going to help anything. As his brain overworked to see what he could possibly do in this situation, he suddenly noticed sothing odd.
This egg sac looked very different from the previous one. Then, a strange thought popped into his head. What if its not the sa egg sac? What if its not the sa dragon?
The one he had seen before had a light bluish-green mbrane, but this one had a darker, a sleek obsidian black, its surface glistening under the flickering firelight of the lava. Strange veins pulsed across its shell, not red, but deep violet.
There was a chance that the egg sac simply looked different because of the environnt it was currently in. Anything could be happening here.
Kaden stared at the egg for a while before quickly starting to fly away once again. This was a problem he would have to deal with later. For now he had to worry about survival.
He flew in another direction and once he was far way from the egg spot, he shifted back into the human form. He had so more hours left for the extre environnt quest and it was ti to complete that.
Kaden sat down and once again resud his ditation. The blistering heat made it all that much harder for him to focus but this also ant that the spot counted for the quest.
He shut his eyes, forcing himself to breathe evenly despite the oppressive heat pressing down on him. The molten air felt like it was trying to suffocate him, each inhale searing his throat like he was drinking liquid fire.
But that was the point. This was the challenge. The system wasn't going to just hand him an upgrade. It wanted him to suffer for it.
So, he did.
His muscles tensed as he focused inward, syncing himself with the raw, violent mana surrounding him. His body scread for relief, but he ignored it. He pushed his limits, forcing himself to remain still, to endure.
Seconds dragged into minutes. Minutes stretched into hours.
His health bar ticked downward painfully slow. Even with Healing Touch working overti, it wasn't enough to counteract the damage completely. This was real suffering. But Kaden gritted his teeth and bore it.
Then, at last—a notification.

[Ding! You have received a reward]
A small green vial appeared on Kaden's hand.
Kaden blinked, exhaled sharply, his whole body slumping with exhaustion. Finally.
He stared at the small green vial resting in his palm, its contents shimring faintly under the oppressive glow of the volcanic landscape. Body Tempering Elixir. It was unassuming, yet he knew it was anything but ordinary.
His fingers tightened around the glass. This was it. The final step in stabilizing his body. With this, he should definitely get so more ti to handle his bloodline ss.
He couldn't exactly take the elixir here so he stood up. It was ti to make the trip back to the settlent. Kaden dashed forward at top speed, taking another look in the direction of the egg sac. This was not over. He needed to co back here as soon as possible.
Kaden bolted across the volcanic terrain, his enhanced body making each stride feel effortless despite the sweltering heat. He needed to get back to the settlent, deal with the things over there, and then return to the mystery of the egg sac before things spiraled out of control.
The obsidian cliffs and rivers of molten lava blurred past him as he ran, pushing his speed to the limit. His feet barely touched the scorched ground as he leaped from rock to rock, avoiding the unstable sections where the heat had weakened the earth.
Soon he arrived in the familiar territory. He scanned the horizon, his sharp eyes locking onto the distant trees marking the edge of his settlent's territory. His heart thumped harder. It was ti for the system shop to open up.
Oh and of course, there was the small matter of the settlent ownership challenge. He wondered who it was who had dared to try and take what was his. They were about to learn exactly why that was a mistake.
