Chapter 432: Chapter 428: eting the Parents
Liang Jinhong’s plan was conceived perfectly, but implenting it proved difficult, since relations between the Liang Family and the Huang Family were quite stiff; no one dared to approach the Huang Family directly.
The Huang Family was a hereditary military family, with combat abilities far beyond that of ordinary households. Liang Jinhong was certain that if soone from their family went to the Huangs’, not to ntion suggesting they recognize Huo Sining as a mber of the Liangs’, whether they could even enter the Huang’s gate was questionable.
So Liang Jinhong had no choice but to stake out the exit the Huangs’ regularly used, hoping to catch what he was after.
However, to his frustration, for several days straight, he hadn’t caught a glimpse of Huo Sining.
Liang Jinhong didn’t know that since becoming Zhou Shitao’s apprentice, Huo Sining had begun her painful ordeal. She had been taken to the Zhou Family by Zhou Shitao and started intensive, force-fed training.
Because Huo Sining insisted on studying antique appraisal while continuing her education at S University’s School of Biological Sciences and refused to transfer from S University, Zhou Shitao beca furious. Without saying another word, he packed her up and took her away, starting her secluded training upon their arrival.
Knowledge of various antique appraisals was to be learned concurrently, including both theory and practical assessnts. Zhou Shitao’s requirents were stringent and severe. At the beginning, Huo Sining nearly couldn’t cope, learning with resentnt, questioning if she had gone mad to board this “pirate ship.”
Huo Sining buzzed around like a spinning top, too busy to think about romance or boyfriends. Gu Xu, who wanted to visit his fiancée at the Zhou Family, was ruthlessly turned away by Zhou Shitao.
Unable to see her face or get through on the phone, Gu Xu felt abandoned by his fiancée, his mood instantly somber, his face full of sorrow and deep resentnt, yet not daring to barge in, he could only slink back to Shengtang Group’s headquarters.
Therefore, tragedy struck the employees at Sheng Tang Headquarters. Even though the Little New Year had already passed, normally, they would be having an annual eting to summarize the year, then happily wait for the company to give out bonuses to go ho for the New Year. But this year, for so reason, there was no notice of holiday leave on the 27th, and each of the executives was working overti.
The atmosphere in the company was oppressively tense; everyone speculated if sothing had gone wrong. Perhaps the recently proposed developnt case failed to pass, or a partner refused to sign the contract. Employees discussed in private, their faces stern, on pins and needles, fearing they might beco the next unfortunate victim.
It wasn’t until five days later, on the morning of the thirtieth day of the twelfth lunar month, that Huo Sining’s first assessnt finally passed smoothly, and she was released from the Zhou Family by Zhou Shitao.
Huo Sining contacted Gu Xu imdiately and agreed to his request to take her to et his parents at the Gu Family.
Although Huo Sining had already t Gu Xu’s parents during the acknowledgnt feast, it was not a formal eting, and since there were other mbers of the Gu Family, now that her relationship with Gu Xu had been solidified, and she had co to the Imperial Capital, it was only proper to visit and show her manners and sincerity.
Seeing Huo Sining agree to his request, Gu Xu instantly bead, as if he had co back to life.
Consequently, the company quickly experienced a reprieve; the holiday was extended from the usual ten days to fifteen days. That wasn’t all, the bonus was increased by twenty percent over the expected amount.
The employees, previously filled with resentnt as other companies had already gone on holiday, suddenly blossod into joy, taking their hefty bonuses ho for a delightful New Year celebration.
The emotions of those in love are unpredictable. For the past few days, Gu Xu worked with a dark expression, while Song Hui was still guessing what could have happened. Now, seeing Gu Xu light up after a single phone call left Song Hui twitching at the corner of his mouth, speechless.
“Dating is such a hassle, I’ve always said that won shouldn’t be taken too seriously. Just look at Xu Zi now, he’s totally fallen for it!”
At the club, when eting up with Ouyang Jun, Qin Tian, and a few others, Song Hui spoke of Gu Xu’s condition these past few days, shaking his head with a bit of dread and scoffing at it.
Ouyang Jun, however, frowned, “You can’t say that. I actually think it’s good for Xu Zi to be like this. As for you, you should change your playboy ways. Changing won more often than your clothes is not always safe; so won are not to be trifled with. Aren’t you afraid of capsizing in the gutter one day?”
Song Hui looked at Ouyang Jun with a shaless face, “Hey, that’s interesting, you think I’m afraid of so da? Who dares to touch ?”
Ouyang Jun replied helplessly, “Do you think I an soone will take revenge on you? I’m not at all worried about your tough skin. Aren’t you tired of playing with won every day? I’m advising you to settle down so you won’t regret it later and co crying to us!”
Hearing Ouyang Jun’s words, Song Hui chuckled, one eyebrow raised as he looked at Ouyang Jun,
“Jun Zi, don’t bother advising . A man’s grave is the bed of a seductress, and I’m a natural Casanova. There’s no curing my flirtatious ways in this lifeti. Besides, the woman who can capsize
in the gutter hasn’t been born yet!”
Ouyang Jun shook his head, disagreeing with Song Hui’s words, “Alright, alright, I know you’re like a leaf that stays dry though floating on water. You don’t listen to
now, but there will co a ti when you’ll cry about it!”
Song Hui wasn’t concerned. Little did he know, in the near future, a reckless girl would barge into his life. He would then realize that she was the rib he had lost in a past life.
If he had known that sowhere in the world, there was a girl whose re ntion would send a piercing pain through his heart, he certainly wouldn’t have been so nonchalant.
It wasn’t until a year later that Ouyang Jun’s words ca true, and Song Hui was in an utterly sorry state.
On the thirtieth day of the twelfth lunar month, the last day of the year, Huo Sining accompanied Gu Xu to the Gu Family’s ho.
The car entered the military compound, and upon reaching the gate, they saw that the guards on both sides were ard. As Gu Xu’s car approached, they all saluted the people inside with a standard military salute.
Gu Xu drove straight in, and every few dozen ters along the way there was a person in uniform patrolling, until the car stopped in front of a three-story villa deep in the compound.
Hearing the engine sound, Mrs. Gu ca out from the yard to greet them. Seeing Huo Sining getting out of the car, her lips involuntarily curled up, and her eyes and brows were filled with smiles.
“You’re back?” Mrs. Gu didn’t speak pleasantries but simply said ‘you’re back’, as if Huo Sining was already her daughter-in-law, as dear as her closest family.
Huo Sining, who had been sowhat nervous, heard Mrs. Gu’s warm words and felt much of her tension dissipate. She smiled and nodded, then took Mrs. Gu’s arm and went into the house with her.
