Chapter 1736: Chapter 1639: Motive

Due to the smooth progress of filming that day, the crew successfully wrapped up by a little after five in the afternoon.

Zheng Lixiang was in a good mood and generously gave the staff a half-day off, then invited the producer and director to dinner to discuss how to shoot the next scenes.

The remaining people naturally went about their own business. Huo Sining, Shangguan Zhuo, and Xie Yuxing had already planned during a filming break to enjoy a nice al at a nearby Sichuan restaurant, so after wrapping up, the three t up outside the crew and headed there together.

On the way, Xie Yuxing’s assistant seed a bit off, but Shangguan Zhuo’s agent, Liu Yun, was quite humorous and occasionally cracked jokes to keep everyone entertained.

After the al, the group returned to the hotel and coincidentally ran into Su Lingxue and Huang Jingwen in the lobby.

Seeing how close Huo Sining and Xie Yuxing were, Su Lingxue and Huang Jingwen exchanged strange smiles, and Xie Yuxing felt sothing subtly odd, but couldn’t pinpoint what exactly.

Shangguan Zhuo also noticed the peculiar smile between Su Lingxue and her manager, his eyes flickering with thought.

Huo Sining seed completely oblivious, maintaining her usual smile. She even began chatting about funny stories from their hotowns with Shangguan Zhuo’s agent, Liu Yun, appearing unaffected and carefree.

No one noticed that when the elevator doors closed, a cold flash flickered in Huo Sining’s eyes as she lowered her head.

Su Lingxue and Huang Jingwen were staying in the suite next to Huo Sining. After exiting the elevator, Huo Sining followed behind them as all three headed down the hallway.

Noticing the room key in Huo Sining’s hand, Su Lingxue’s eyes flashed with a hint of smugness. Just as Huo Sining reached her door and was about to swipe her card, Su Lingxue suddenly spoke up, asking with a smile:

"Miss Huo, I didn’t expect you to get along so well with Xie Yuxing in such a short ti."

Huo Sining was a bit surprised that Su Lingxue would suddenly talk to her, pausing with her hand on the door handle, she looked at Su Lingxue in puzzlent and retorted sarcastically:

"So what if I do? Xie is a nice person, and we communicate well, so it’s perfectly normal for us to get along. Or do you expect

to get along with you instead?"

Su Lingxue had long known she wouldn’t get any warmth from Huo Sining, but thinking of what was coming next filled her with a secret satisfaction. Even after Huo Sining’s sharp retort, she wasn’t angry at all. Instead, she smiled with feigned concern and said:

"Not at all; I rely wanted to remind Miss Huo that you may know a person’s face but not their heart, especially in the entertainnt industry where people are not as simple as they seem. As a newcor, Miss Huo might not yet be accustod to the survival tactics here."

"Xie Yuxing may be friendly with you now, but she might just as easily befriend others. You might think you share interests, but perhaps it’s her tactical approach to get close to you."

"That’s why I want to warn you, Miss Huo, not to trust anyone easily in this industry, or you might get backstabbed without even realizing it."

There was a semblance of concern in Su Lingxue’s eyes. If Huo Sining hadn’t known the ulterior motives behind Su Lingxue’s words, she might indeed have been swayed.

However, Huo Sining was well aware that Su Lingxue’s seemingly caring words were actually aid at piercing her heart.

The purpose of these words was simply to set the stage for their upcoming plan, so that when sothing happened, suspicion would be directed at Xie Yuxing.

Having understood the true intentions behind these events, looking at Su Lingxue’s hypocritical fa??ade in front of her, Huo Sining felt it was both absurd and ironic.

Yet, she couldn’t reveal these thoughts, otherwise Su Lingxue and Huang Jingwen might notice, and then they might change their plan.

Thus, a sneer curled on Huo Sining’s lips as she straightforwardly said:

"Who I choose to befriend is none of Miss Su’s concern. Guarding against everyone must be a difficult way to live. Having spent so many years in the entertainnt industry, I wonder if you have any true friends. My guess is probably not."

"People like Miss Su probably have no shortage of flatterers, but when it cos to sincere friends, I’d bet no one would dare call Miss Su a friend—because trusting you might just an getting stabbed in the back!"

"You!"

Su Lingxue’s face turned red and white with anger from Huo Sining’s cutting words, looking as if she had been hit right where it hurt. A sharp and venomous look flashed in her eyes, and she pulled a sinister smile, saying:

"I’ve said all there is to say. Believe it or not, when you get betrayed, I’ll see how you can keep that mouth running!"

With that, Su Lingxue turned and entered her suite without giving Huo Sining another glance.

Huo Sining glanced at Huang Jingwen standing nearby and smiled, saying:

"Sister Huang, Miss Su’s remarks even include you. She says not to trust anyone in the entertainnt circle; I wonder, does she trust you?"

Huang Jingwen was montarily stunned by Huo Sining’s words, feeling inexplicably uncomfortable.

However, she quickly realized it was a tactic to sow discord, and imdiately put on a professional smile:

"Miss Huo, you jest. I am in a contractual relationship with Miss Su; she is the artist and I am the manager. We are partners and share mutual interests. Trust doesn’t really co into play."

Huo Sining’s lips curled as she tilted her head and asked, "Really?"

Huang Jingwen gave no definite answer.

Huo Sining shook her head slightly in disapproval but said nothing more, opening her door to enter her room.

Huang Jingwen stood at the door for a while before entering the suite where Su Lingxue was staying.

Inside, she saw Su Lingxue throwing a fit, her face twisted with anger, and the items on the table had been swept onto the floor. If it weren’t for the thick carpet, everything might have shattered.

Huang Jingwen naturally understood the reason behind Su Lingxue’s anger; it was due to Huo Sining’s recent remarks. She advised:

"You know she’s trying to provoke you. Why should you get angry over such a trivial issue? The plan for tonight is all set—just wait to enjoy the show!"
