Chapter 151: Chapter 148 Picking up a Bargain
“I was swindled out of five hundred thousand just like that!” Wu Linger ca to her senses and thought about how she had spent five hundred thousand on a worthless piece of stone. The more she thought about it, the more pained she felt, and she beca both furious and annoyed. She glared at Huo Sining with vicious anger and yelled, “You did this on purpose to hurt !”
Huo Sining shrugged, “So what? It’s not like I forced you to buy it, right? The boss didn’t pressure you either. You were the one who eagerly bid the money. You say I intentionally hard you, but do you have any evidence?”
“You!” Wu Linger was at a loss for words, but then a thought struck her. Suddenly, she had an idea, “I may not have evidence, but my bid was just a verbal one, and words alone are not binding. I don’t want this stone anymore, and since I haven’t paid for it, you can’t do anything to !”
These childish words from Wu Linger imdiately turned the shop owner’s expression sour. Could gambling on stones be a matter of simply saying you want it and not wanting it anymore? Upon hearing this, Huo Sining let out a cold laugh, “What now, you bid with such confidence before, and now you want to back out? You attended the stone gambling event as a mber with a guarantor. By not paying for what you’ve bought, your guarantor will have to foot the bill for your whims. Are you sure you don’t want this stone? Also, if I rember correctly, your family runs a jewelry business, right? It’s called Wu Ji or sothing? Wu Linger turned pale with fear at Huo Sining’s words. The guarantor was found by Zhou Zhen, which had nothing to do with her; she wasn’t worried about that part. After all, she could just stop attending these stone gambling events in the future.
But the latter part of what Huo Sining said hit Wu Linger’s sore spot. Even though Wu Ji was not a large jewelry company, it was still an enterprise her father had worked hard to build over the years. Her father turned a blind eye to her usual reckless behavior as long as it did not affect the family business. However, if this incident caused trouble for Wu Ji’s business, she wasn’t sure how her father would react.
Thinking about the potential consequences made Wu Linger shiver involuntarily, and her eyes filled with panic and fear when she looked at Huo Sining.
“So I suggest you better give the money to the boss! Last ti, you handed
a check to fill out as I pleased. Miss Wu, a young lady from a rich family like yours, surely wouldn’t care about a re five hundred thousand, right?”
Wu Linger was seething with hatred for Huo Sining, but she dared not refuse to pay. Her eyes were red with anger as she resentfully took out her phone to transfer the money to the boss. After paying, she gave Huo Sining a vicious glare, summoned a staff mber to carry away her piece of fatty at-skin stone, and strode out of the venue.
“Hey, miss, these extras are included with that raw material!” The boss, delighted by the paynt of five hundred thousand, had improved his attitude toward Wu Linger quite a bit. He hurriedly called out to her as he saw her leaving.
Wu Linger looked at the boss with disgust and coldly said, “It’s just a few worthless pieces of scrap stone; I don’t want them, consider them a tip!”

The boss was still trying to grasp the situation when Wu Linger had already left with a staff mber without looking back.
With a sly smile of soone whose scheming had paid off, Huo Sining’s eyes glead like a fox. She intently eyed the ten or so varying-sized extras in the display tray, “Boss, since she doesn’t want these extras, how about you sell them to ? I’ll offer… um, five hundred per piece, how does that sound?”
Huo Sining tentatively held up five fingers.
The boss, seeing Huo Sining actually wanted to buy these extras, suddenly beca cheerful:
“Who needs money? If it weren’t for you driving up the price just now, how could I have gotten such a deal from that girl? I know perfectly well what that rough stone is worth, and this half a million is truly a huge profit for ! Take whichever of these extras you like, just take them all!”
“Really? Haha, that’s fantastic, thank you, boss!” Huo Sining’s face lit up with joy upon hearing this, and she made a goofy face at Bai Yishan, winking and sticking out her tongue before squatting down to pick through the rough stones.
In a matter of monts, she picked out the four pieces that could increase in value after cutting, clutching the rough stones to her chest. The boss glanced at them, nodded in agreent, and waved his hand to indicate they were hers to take.
With a wide smile, Huo Sining thanked the boss again and, grabbing Bai Yishan by the arm, hastily made her exit.
What a joke, those four rough stones were big scores likely to rise in value – she had to leave before the boss changed his mind!
Only when they were out of sight of the boss did Huo Sining breathe a sigh of relief. She set the stones on the ground, shaking her sore arms: “My god, these things may not look it, but they’re really heavy when you’re carrying them around. They’ve worn
out!”
The largest of the rough stones weighed about three kilograms, which really wasn’t easy to carry around constantly.
anwhile, Gu Xu had been looking for Huo Sining for so ti and finally caught up to her. Walking at a leisurely pace behind Huo Sining, he overheard her complaint and instinctively offered, “Need so help?”
Huo Sining was about to explain the deal with the four rough stones to a puzzled Bai Yishan, but then she heard that familiar voice behind her and spun around, startled. She was t with Gu Xu’s odd expression.
It wasn’t really Gu Xu’s fault. He was used to wearing an icy ‘stay away from ’ expression year-round and had almost forgotten how to approach a girl. Now, wanting to get closer to Huo Sining, he seed unsure of what kind of expression to use.
“Uh… no, there’s no need. They’re not that heavy; we can manage on our own.”
Seeing Gu Xu, Huo Sining was more astonished than if she were facing a prehistoric monster. Gu Xu’s lasting impression from her past life was deep, and now he was acting like the perfect gentleman, offering help. This was so out of character that it understandably baffled Huo Sining, prompting her to refuse without a second thought.
But Gu Xu seed not to have heard Huo Sining’s refusal at all; he went ahead and imperiously gathered the stones into his arms, asking, “Are you still planning to look at rough stones?”
Truth be told, Gu Xu’s voice had a husky, magnetic quality, a pleasant baritone that made one’s heart beat faster just listening to it.
Huo Sining felt her face heat up and quickly banished the ssy images that flashed through her mind, feigning composure as she said:
“It’s still early; let’s look around so more. We don’t know how Qingqing and the others are doing. We can look for them as we go. By the way, Mr. Gu, why didn’t you go with Brother Jinyuan to the silent auction area? The rough stones there are much better than these.”
