Capítulo 1439: Chapter 1423: So, When Are You Getting Married?
“You know, considering how far away it is, I couldn’t possibly go to Porcelain Capital just for an auction, so I turned it down.”
“But this auction was organized by an old friend of mine, and I’ve always felt bad about it. You’re going to Porcelain Capital on official business, and I didn’t want to bring it up, but since the Oil Rat has already run off, you don’t need to hurry back with it. Why not stay in Porcelain Capital for a couple more days and attend the auction for ? What do you say?”
Huo Sining couldn’t refuse Zhou Shitao’s suggestion.
Once she received the photo of the invitation letter from Zhou Shitao, Huo Sining contacted the old friend he ntioned. After conveying Zhou Shitao’s ssage, Mr. Shi Ronghe, the old gentleman, laughed imdiately upon learning Huo Sining’s intent.
“So it’s Miss Huo, hahahaha, I’ve heard about you before, but never had the chance to et you in person. Your master has ntioned you to
more than once. It’s wonderful that you can attend this old man’s auction. When are you coming, so I can arrange for soone to pick you up?”
Shi Ronghe wasn’t upset that Zhou Shitao sent a young girl to represent him; instead, he asked, overjoyed and warmly.
Huo Sining replied with a smile, “Mr. Shi, my boyfriend and I are already in Porcelain Capital. The auction is the day after tomorrow, right? We’ll explore Porcelain Capital first and then head directly to the auction site the day after.”
Shi Ronghe imdiately disagreed upon hearing this: “How could that be? You’ve co such a long way, and you’re a distinguished guest. How could I neglect you like this? If your master hears about it, he won’t let it go. Girl, how about this? I have an appointnt with two people this afternoon. Just let
know where you are, and I’ll have soone pick you up, and then co to my humble abode for a cup of tea and a simple al. What do you think?”
Huo Sining glanced at Gu Xu, hesitated for a mont, then nodded and said, “Alright then, sorry to trouble you, Mr. Shi.”
“Oh, it’s no trouble at all. You all can stay at my place tonight, and tomorrow I’ll take you to explore Porcelain Capital. I’ll be your guide!”
Not long after having lunch, the little troublemaker Qibao finally woke up from his slumber, though still sowhat drowsy. Huo Sining quickly gave him the antidote that could supposedly ease the effects of anesthesia, provided by a previous colleague from the testing departnt. About an hour later, the little guy finally regained his senses.
“Sister, the Oil Rat ran away!” As soon as he woke up and was able to speak normally, Qibao eagerly grabbed Huo Sining’s sleeve and shouted anxiously.
Huo Sining felt both amused and annoyed: “I knew that already. Aren’t you good at dealing with venomous bugs? How did soone manage to drug you? Anyway, let him go if he ran off. Are you still dizzy now?”
Qibao shook his head, “Not dizzy.”
“Good, then get up and eat sothing. You’ve slept for almost twenty hours, you must be starving, right?” Huo Sining sighed, fetched the lunch she had packed for Qibao from her storage ring, and watched as the little guy quickly washed up and began to devour his al.
While the little guy was eating, Gu Xu had finished reporting to his superiors and had sent two other team mbers back to report on their progress.
Huo Sining told Gu Xu about the new assignnt given by Zhou Shitao, and recounted what Mr. Shi had said on the phone. She then said, sowhat apologetically, “Sorry, I made a decision without consulting you. If you have work to do at the company, you can head back to the Imperial Capital first. I can handle this on my own.”
Gu Xu imdiately laughed, “It’s only natural to accompany the wife. If I leave you here alone, it would be quite unworthy of
as a future husband. Besides, running such a large company, I certainly don’t keep idle people. If the company falls into disarray just because I’m away for a few days, then I’m doing a pretty poor job as the boss.”
Upon hearing this, Huo Sining couldn’t help but smile, “That’s good. I may not be used to ordering others around, but when it cos to you, I won’t go easy.”
“You can order
around however you like. I’d climb mountains and cross rivers of oil, and your husband wouldn’t utter a word of complaint,” Gu Xu joked for once.
“There you go, being glib again.”
Huo Sining pursed her lips with a smile, and just then, a call ca in on her phone.
“Is this Miss Huo Sining? Hello, I’m the butler from Mr. Shi’s residence. I’m currently downstairs at your hotel.”
Huo Sining quickly replied, “Yes, I’m Huo Sining. Please wait a mont, we’ll be down shortly.”
Having packed up their luggage properly, Gu Xu carrying Qibao, the three of them headed straight down to the lobby, where they indeed saw an old butler standing straight, along with a low-key Lexus parked behind him.
Following the old butler into the car, they drove towards the outskirts of the city, soon arriving at a residence. As soon as they stepped out of the car, they heard a hearty laugh from inside: “Huo girl is here, you all have a look, I’ll go greet our distinguished guest.”
Within seconds, an elderly man with white hair yet youthful appearance, wearing traditional Tang attire, appeared at the door, looking very kindly.
Upon seeing Huo Sining, the old man approached with a smile: “Are you Huo girl? Wonderful, you look even more lively and spirited than on TV, much better than your master.”
Recognizing the voice as that of the enthusiastic and hospitable Mr. Shi Ronghe from their previous correspondence, Huo Sining quickly bowed and greeted formally:
“Hello, Mr. Shi, I’m Huo Sining. I’m here on behalf of my master to learn from you. But I ca on short notice and couldn’t prepare any refined gifts. This little trinket is sothing I picked up as a rare find on Antique Street, I hope you don’t mind.”
As she spoke, Huo Sining handed over a box she was carrying to Shi Ronghe. Of course, he heard the humble words in her offering, and didn’t place much importance on the gift itself. Smiling, he waved his hand and said:
“Your presence is enough. No need for gifts. I tell you, your master and I share a bond forged through life and death, we don’t bother with such formalities. This ti is an exception, if you try this again, you won’t be welco here.”
Though speaking this way, the old man still gladly accepted the gift, and only then did his gaze land on Gu Xu, with a hint of scrutiny. Finally, he chuckled and said:
“Is this the boy from the Gu Family? Mm, young lady, you not only have a keen eye for antiques but also a good eye for n. This young man seems like a keeper.”
At this point, the old man shifted the topic, glancing between the two with an amused curl at his lips, “When are you two getting married? Don’t forget to invite this old man for a drink at the wedding.”
“Um…”
Huo Sining’s face instantly froze.
