Chapter 1412: Chapter 1397: Aberration

Mr. Liang lifted his head to look at Huo Sining, an unnatural expression appearing on his face.

Huo Sining’s gaze was fixed on him, allowing no chance for Mr. Liang to evade.

"Twenty-one years ago, why did you fake your death? Why didn’t you even tell the Huang Family? Since you faked your death, why did you return to the old residence?"

"Why are you associating with the Tomb Robbers? Last ti you went with Fujiwara Seiho to Yunling, and now you’re here at Dingshan. What exactly are you looking for inside the ancient tombs?"

"Where did my pendant co from?"

"Why have those on your body... turned out like this?"

"The Imperial Jade Seal in the Swiss Bank’s safety deposit box in New York, where did it co from?"

Huo Sining did not know how many questions she had for Mr. Liang to resolve, but as she started asking, the more she probed, the more Mr. Liang remained silent, with only a bitter smile upon his lips, appearing unsure where to begin.

"Girl, you’ve asked

so many questions all at once, how could I possibly answer them all right away?"

Mr. Liang inadvertently glanced at the wall clock, astonished to find a discrepancy. He felt he had been brought out of the ancient tomb re ten minutes ago, yet it was already nearing noon, creating a sense of bewildernt in him.

Mr. Liang also held many confusions. Though he had not interacted much with Huo Sining, he had frequently read news and papers over the years, learning that his daughter, though young, was indeed very capable. This filled Liang Ruining with both relief and puzzlent. He wished to ask Huo Sining how she had lived all these years, but the words remained unspoken.

No matter how his daughter had been, she was always his daughter. Despite being dependent on others for eighteen years, he could guess the trials and tribulations she endured without asking. He was unworthy of being a father, indebted to Yin Yin, who had borne their child with hardship.

A hint of reluctance erged in Mr. Liang’s eyes, but he quickly masked it. With a faint smile, he pointed to the wall clock, feigning grievance, and said:

"Girl, you can’t just keep interrogating

without letting your dad fill his stomach first, can you? I’ve been with the Oil Rats digging tunnels for a whole day and night without eating, my stomach’s starving. Although my injury’s healed, you can’t mistreat an injured man like ."

Upon hearing this, Huo Sining couldn’t help but chuckle softly. Seeing the weariness on Mr. Liang’s face, she finally softened and nodded: "Alright, you rest first. I’ll go get you so food."

Mr. Liang’s eyes flickered, nodding as he lay back on the bed. Yet his gaze remained fixed on Huo Sining, scrutinizing every detail on her to avoid missing any of her expressions.

Although Huo Sining resembled him in his younger days to so extent, she had grown more refined over the past two years and gradually less like Liang Ruining. However, the general contour was still there; Mr. Liang observed the poised young lady with a heart full of emotion.

If he wasn’t in this ghostly form, he would give everything to protect her well, provide her with the best in the world, not live in hiding like this.

Sadly, there’s never a "what if" in this world.

Huo Sining exited the guest room and prepared to go downstairs to see if Auntie had finished making lunch. If not, she intended to cook herself.

She happened to have so ingredients in her Storage Space—golden spearfish, abalone, and so other seafood—so she planned to prepare a few dishes for Mr. Liang to taste her cooking.

Worried about disturbing Mr. Liang’s rest, Huo Sining considerately brought Qibao along. However, the little fellow, after seeing Mr. Liang, remained silent, gazing thoughtfully, without saying a word further.

Huo Sining took Qibao to the kitchen. Sure enough, Auntie had not returned, likely out shopping for groceries. Seeing this, Huo Sining rolled up her sleeves and prepared to get busy.

No sooner had she taken the ingredients out of the storage ring did Qibao suddenly exclaim upon seeing the fish: "I know!"

Huo Sining paused, raising her head puzzled toward Qibao: "You know what?"

With a smug expression, Qibao tilted his chin toward Huo Sining: "I figured out what’s up with that uncle! If I’m not mistaken, he should be a half-rmaid; the Jiao blood within him isn’t pure, so he doesn’t have the Jiao heritage upon adulthood."

"Later, he might have experienced so significant stimulus, awakening the Jiao blood within, thus now in a state of transformation, still human but starting to show Jiao traits on his body."

"This is the difference between purebred and non-purebred. For a half-rmaid to transition into a true Jiaoren, the process is trendously difficult and may result in death due to the unbearable pain of bodily transformation..."

While Qibao continued his chatter, Huo Sining suddenly raised her head, focusing intensely on Qibao: "What did you say?"

Realizing Huo Sining’s expression was off, Qibao hesitated and said, "This was taught to

by Big Brother. Back in Miao Village, my body suddenly experienced anomalies. But I had the Rock Spirit Pearl’s protection, so I didn’t feel much pain. But that uncle didn’t have a Spiritual Pearl, so these symptoms he had to endure forcefully, transformation is a drawn-out process..."

As Qibao explained, Huo Sining’s heart sank, realizing sothing was wrong. She dropped the knife in her hand and didn’t even wash her hands before rushing out of the kitchen and running towards the room upstairs.

Like the wind, she returned to her room, pushed open the door, and found the bedroom empty. The bed still bore traces of her father’s blood from his wound, but the person who should have been resting there was already gone!

The floor-to-ceiling curtains were drawn open, the window wide, allowing a frigid wind to blow in, stinging her face.

Huo Sining understood now; Liang Ruining’s claim of hunger was just an excuse to send her away.

Her face was filled with repressed anger and helplessness as she gazed at the empty room, speechless for a long ti.

How could she forget, back at the Yunling hotel, this sa person dared to jump straight from the third floor. With prior incidents, how could she trust him so easily?

Huo Sining felt a wave of desolation, montarily uncertain of what to do, finally reaching out for the phone to alert the Special Police Forces, asking them to keep an eye out for a man nad Ling Tong and notify her imdiately if found.
