Chapter 1091: Chapter 1087: A Candidate
"Director Han, I just received a call from Louis’s agent. Louis had a car accident today and probably won’t be able to attend the final rehearsal for the Spring Festival Gala. His magic performance will likely need a new magician to replace him."
Liu Chunying didn’t avoid Chen Yu and directly spoke about the matter.
Han Wen’s face instantly turned somber upon hearing the news: "What happened? How did the accident occur out of nowhere?"
Liu Chunying shook her head: "His agent didn’t go into details, just ntioned that he’s still in the hospital undergoing ergency treatnt, and it seems quite serious."
Han Wen nodded: "This is troubleso. Without him, finding a suitable magician in a short ti won’t be easy. But other types of acts are already lined up, so changing the program isn’t possible."
Chen Yu had been listening nearby. Seeing Han Wen’s expression, she knew Han Wen was troubled about who to find as a replacent for Louis. Suddenly, a thought crossed her mind and she laughed: "Isn’t it just about finding a magician? I actually have soone in mind, just not sure if you’d be willing to take them on."
Upon hearing Chen Yu’s words, Han Wen suddenly raised her head to look at her: "You have soone to recomnd?"
Hearing Chen Yu’s words, Liu Chunying’s expression changed, anxiously looking at Chen Yu, wanting to interrupt and propose Miss Magic’s suggestion.
However, Chen Yu didn’t let her speak, and directly smiled: "I might not know much about other things and couldn’t find soone suitable, but when it cos to magic, I do know soone who can definitely take up this important role."
On hearing this, Han Wen beca interested and curiously asked: "Who is it? Soone who gets such high praise from you must be extraordinary."
Han Wen and Chen Yu were old acquaintances, sharing a dorm in college and had a close relationship. Based on her understanding of Chen Yu, if the person wasn’t truly talented, Chen Yu wouldn’t bring it up to her.
As the eldest daughter-in-law of the Gu Family and working in the Cultural Propaganda Departnt, Han Wen was very aware of Chen Yu’s temperant. Chen Yu is ticulous, treats others kindly, but is very principled in her work and never uses her position for personal gain.
However, the next words from Chen Yu left Han Wen stunned.
"Turns out I’m a bit acquainted with this person. My young brother-in-law, you know about him, right? A few years ago, you wanted to introduce your cousin to him, but since he wasn’t interested, that was the end of it. Last year, he t a girl he liked and wanted to pursue her, so he told the old man at ho."
"Our old man had a unique way of dealing with it, directly issuing an ultimatum to get the girl within three months, or else he’d break my brother-in-law’s legs."
At this point, not only Chen Yu, but Han Wen also couldn’t help but laugh.
Han Wen had t the old man of the Gu Family before. An elder with quite an age, yet decisive in action, making it easy to imagine he was a remarkable person in his youth. Just by hearing Chen Yu speak of him, Han Wen could picture Master Gu waving his cane at Chen Yu’s brother-in-law with a stern look.
But jokes aside, Han Wen was still a bit confused: "Weren’t you recomnding a magician? How did it get onto your brother-in-law?"
Chen Yu pursed her lips into a smile: "What I’m saying is, my brother-in-law brought that young girl to our ho for the New Year. The girl has a sweet face and clear eyes. Not just the old man, even I liked her."
"The girl isn’t very old, just reached adulthood. On one hand, I thought it was a pity that such a young girl was taken by my brother-in-law, feeling like an old bull eating young grass. On the other hand, I faintly felt that her appearance looked familiar."
"I was just a bit suspicious at first, and didn’t think much about it. But when the girl introduced herself, I imdiately rembered."
At this point, Chen Yu deliberately paused and took a sip of tea from the cup on the table.
Han Wen eagerly waited for Chen Yu to continue, but Chen Yu left it hanging, making Han Wen glare intensely while she casually drank her tea:
"I an, can’t you just get to the point? Dragging it out like this, are you doing it on purpose?"
Han Wen had t Chen Yu’s brother-in-law before. Handso and tall, with the backing of the Gu Family and owning a big company, it’s hard not to notice soone like him. So, upon seeing him, Han Wen even considered matchmaking for her cousin.
Unfortunately, she was overthinking it. Given the Gu Family’s stature, how could they possibly fancy ordinary folks like them? She spent months trying to matchmake, but got no reaction from Chen Yu’s brother-in-law. It was all in vain, leaving her and her cousin with nothing.
Because of this, her cousin was downcast for a long ti, never dating since. Han Wen felt guilty and sowhat embarrassed as the matchmaker, dragging her cousin into feelings she couldn’t escape, despite the outco.
Han Wen held so resentnt for the Gu Family, but it was buried in her heart. Now, with Chen Yu bringing up Gu Xu, those mories ca flooding back, sparking curiosity about the girl chosen by the Gu Family’s younger son.
Her cousin had qualifications and looks, but Chen Yu’s brother-in-law never glanced at her. Now, Han Wen wanted to see what kind of woman this high-standard guy had chosen!
At this mont, Han Wen completely forgot her initial goal. She wanted Chen Yu to recomnd a magician, yet they ended up talking about Chen Yu’s brother-in-law.
After wetting her throat with tea, Chen Yu finally spoke with a smile, ending the suspense: "I was just saying, can’t I drink so tea when I’m thirsty? Where were we? Oh, about the girl’s self-introduction."
"The girl introduced herself as a student from S University, nad Huo Sining. As soon as I heard the na, I thought it was quite the coincidence. Recently, a magic performance video from S University’s welco party was circulating online, and the student performing magic there was nad Huo Sining, wasn’t she?"
"When it clicked, I thought it was just a coincidence. But after looking closely at the girl’s features, I couldn’t help but smile. This girl’s features were about seventy to eighty percent similar to the student in the video. They’re clearly the sa person!"
