Capítulo 1330: Chapter 2: Lu Zhu, Money, and the God of Wealth (Part 2)_3

“President Zhou?”

Lu Zhu was unexpectedly nervous, treating this dinner party as another assessnt.

“It’s okay, relax.”

Despite these words, Lu Zhu couldn’t relax. While Zhou Yiran was surrounded by complints, several female guests smiled and greeted Lu Zhu.

Their words and tone were intimate, trying to smoothly get her to reveal information to speculate on Lu Zhu’s identity.

This was standard procedure; if it were a naive little flower, she might really say a lot and later praise everyone’s warmth and friendliness.

But Lu Zhu has always been perceptive of others’ emotions, and after spending so much ti with the big boss in business, it would be strange if she divulged anything.

As the final dance music started, Zhou Yiran reached for Lu Zhu, and as they stepped into the dance floor, the group of society ladies finally ca to their senses.

This girl seed to have said a lot, but upon closer inspection, she hadn’t really said anything at all.

Lu Zhu was graceful in the dance floor, after all, making the boss look good is part of a secretary’s responsibilities.

Waltzes always have an intimate feel, almost allowing one to feel the other person’s heartbeat.

Such an ambiguous mont, yet Lu Zhu used it to exchange information.

The group hadn’t pried any information from her, but she had learned quite a bit in return.

Lu Zhu was about to speak when Zhou Yiran gave her a slight smile.

“Shh, finish this dance.”

Lu Zhu pursed her red lips and spun around with Zhou Yiran.

Music flowed in the ballroom, and the breeze from the pool outside carried warmth with a hint of disinfectant sll.

Not pungent, yet inexplicably morable to Lu Zhu.

Perhaps because it mixed with Zhou Yiran’s scent, a reassuring fragrance.

Wasn’t it? Lu Zhu found this sudden thought amusing.

The God of Wealth had been her faith since childhood, and now not only could she stand alongside the God of Wealth, she also danced in the ballroom, seemingly fulfilling a childhood dream.

This thought lingered until the dinner ended, and Lu Zhu was preparing to once again play the role of the driver.

After all, she only had juice throughout the evening.

However, President Zhou didn’t drink tonight, and he headed directly to the driver’s seat, gesturing with his chin.

“Get in.”

The car headed straight for the villa, Lu Zhu blinked, feeling puzzled.

Was the direction toward President Zhou’s ho?

She didn’t indulge in fanciful thoughts about a boss deciding unspoken rules; she just thought there might be tasks to discuss.

She quietly sat in the car.

Zhou Yiran slightly rolled the window down, letting the sumr night breeze in.

Like before at the banquet hall, it was mildly warm yet inexplicably pleasant.

Was it because of the person next to her?

Lu Zhu tilted her head, watching the scenery retreat outside the window.

Then, she heard Zhou Yiran’s voice.

“Miss Lu doesn’t have a boyfriend now, does she?”

“Huh? Uh…yes.”

Lu Zhu was montarily stunned, imdiately declaring her stance, “I won’t be marrying anyti soon, nor will marriage and family affect my work; you can rest assured, boss.”

Lu Zhu has always been aware of workplace inequality for won. Although her boss’s company offers excellent benefits and no employnt discrimination, she proactively stated her thoughts.

After all, marriage doesn’t hold a candle to becoming a wealthy woman.

Lu Zhu believed she had given a perfect answer, yet didn’t notice Zhou Yiran’s eyes slightly darkening, slowly saying, “Then change that thought from today.”

“Huh?”

“Career is certainly important, but marriage should also be kept in mind.”

Zhou Yiran’s inexplicable words made Lu Zhu wrinkle her face, unable to understand why the boss suddenly cared about her personal life.

Was Qingqing indirectly hinting sothing?

Lu Zhu recalled attending a friend’s wedding, indeed a very happy scene.

But she couldn’t imagine any man sharing life with her; not everyone was lucky enough to find such a suitable partner.

All of Lu Zhu’s fantasies about marriage shattered because of what happened to her mother.

Like soone who has experienced hunger never forgetting the empty feeling, that void cannot be filled by food.

So people develop hoarding habits, even when tis are good, storing food at ho, unwilling to throw it away even if it rots.

To them, it’s the last line of survival.

Lu Zhu’s concept of money is similar.
