Chapter 600: Chapter 602: Shao He Falls off the Cliff

Su Ruoxue coldly withdrew her gaze and looked at Mo Chenran again, “What’s your decision? I’ll count to three. If you don’t agree, then let this Crown Princess Consort accompany to hell!”

“Fine,” Pei Huaian stood up and replied.

He signaled to Ah Mo with his eyes, telling him to get the carriage ready.

Upon seeing this, Pei Jingyi stood up and shouted, “No, we absolutely cannot let this woman go!”

In fact, his aim was not Su Ruoxue but to take this opportunity to kill Shao He.

“Shut up,” Pei Huaian barked sternly.

Pei Jingyi imdiately fell silent.

Soon after, Ah Mo ca over leading a steed.

“Can you release her now?”

Su Ruoxue took Shao He on the horse and quickly galloped out of the city, with Pei Huaian and the others including Mo Chenran closely following behind.

They tracked Su Ruoxue to the edge of a cliff, and upon seeing the person being pulled to the brink, Pei Huaian’s heart pounded wildly.

“What exactly do you want to do?”

Su Ruoxue responded with a succession of bitter smiles, “I want to live, but soone isn’t willing to give a chance…”

She turned her head to Shao He and said, “If you reach the bottom, don’t bla . Bla yourself for ddling in things that don’t concern you. If it weren’t for you, our plan could have succeeded.”

Shao He firmly shook her head, “Even without , you wouldn’t have succeeded. The Second Prince is already aware of your plan and will surely take precautions. Do you really think you perford that well?”

Su Ruoxue gave a shallow smile and said, “Since that’s the case, let’s jump together then!”

After saying so, she leaped off the cliff.

“Ruoxue——”

Mo Chenran and Pei Huaian rushed over, both wanting to grab her, but, alas, Shao He ultimately slipped from their hands and fell off the cliff.

Pei Huaian was about to jump after her when Mo Chenran, noticing his action, imdiately knocked him out with a palm strike.

“Master——” Ah Mo caught the unconscious person.

Three months had passed, and Shao He’s remains had never been found.

From then on, Pei Huaian was crestfallen, drinking heavily every day, gloomy and irritable. His behavior caused resentnt among the people of the Capital City and even The Emperor’s repeated admonitions were of no use.

“If you continue like this, you will only disappoint Shao He even more. If she were alive, she would not want to see you so desolate,” Yun Qian said, looking at the person living in a drunken stupor.

“Get lost——”

Yun Qian sighed and left.

Pei Huaian then drank half a jug of wine and lay on the bed, falling asleep.

The next day, before he was sober, he was yanked up by the collar from the bed and thrown outside.

Afterward, a basin of cold water was poured over him, the freezing chill penetrating his whole body.

Pei Huaian finally regained a bit of clarity, only to see Pei Siyang tossing aside the basin.

“Are you sober now?”

“Big brother, I don’t deserve to be the Crown Prince,” Pei Huaian said, having lost interest in everything. He didn’t want to do anything anymore.

“It’s not for you to say whether you’re worthy or not. Moreover, don’t you want to find Shao He?”

These words instantly reignited Pei Huaian’s hope, and he looked at Pei Siyang eagerly.

“Did you find her?”

Although such hope was faint, since Shao He’s body had not been found under the cliff, this ant she must still be alive. Perhaps she was saved by soone.

“I heard that soone saw Shao He in Liuzhou City, but whether it’s her or not is still unknown. But with you looking like this, how are you going to find people? You probably don’t even have the strength to mount a horse!” Pei Siyang said mockingly.

Pei Huaian’s expression changed slightly, and he remained silent.

“That’s why you must pull yourself together!” Pei Siyang continued, “I believe Shao He has a lucky fate. She must be safe and sound!”

“Mm, thank you for the reminder, big brother.” Pei Huaian gratefully said, realizing he indeed needed to pull himself together and not let everyone down.

Ten days later, Pei Huaian was the first to arrive in Liuzhou City, only to find that the city had fewer people than usual, and even the streets had hardly a few carriages. The shops’ attendants were even sparser.

Puzzled, he strode toward the city.

“This way please, sir,” the restaurant’s server greeted him warmly.

Pei Huaian frowned, “Why are the shops closed here?”

“Ah, sir, you must not know. Our Liuzhou City was hit by a sudden downpour last night, causing severe house collapses and heavy losses,” the server said, shaking his head helplessly.

“Oh, I see.”

“Sir, would you like sothing to eat?”

Pei Huaian nodded and surveyed his surroundings as he sat down and ordered a few dishes.

After the al, he left so change and hurried off.

He had to hurry on to other places to look.

“Sir, please wait.”

Suddenly, a man stopped Pei Huaian, and Ah Mo imdiately stood in front of Pei Huaian, warily watching the man before them.

Pei Huaian paused, scrutinizing the man. The man was tall and thin, dressed in rough hemp clothes, and wore a broad hat that hid his face.

“Sir, are you going elsewhere? May I offer you a ride in my carriage?” the man asked politely.

Pei Huaian was about to refuse, but upon seeing the old carriage next to the man, he agreed.

“Sir, my surna is Zhao, with a single na, Feng. You can just call Zhao Feng,” the man said cheerfully, introducing himself.

“Mm, my surna is Pei,” Pei Huaian replied courteously with a nod.

Zhao Feng smiled, “Brother Pei, did you co from the Capital City?”

A cold glint crossed Pei Huaian’s eyes, “Brother Zhao, how did you co to know that?”

“I can tell by your extraordinary deanor, especially the jade pendant on your waist is not sothing an ordinary person would possess,” Zhao Feng said with a smile.

Though the words seed innocuous, they alerted Pei Huaian that this man was certainly no ordinary person.
