"That will do, this spot here."
As he spoke, Shao He walked toward a corner, followed closely by Pei Huaian and the others.
Once the four of them were seated, the server imdiately ca over and asked, "What would the guests like to have?"
"Bring us your signature dishes and the finest drinks you have." Pei Haolan directly handed a silver note to the server.
He deliberately concealed his waist plaque to avoid exposing his identity and attracting unnecessary trouble.
The server, smiling broadly, tremblingly received it. "Alright, please wait a mont, dear guests."
Lih Luo sat restrained in her chair, unaccustod to dining in such places, feeling out of place for a mont.
"The Third Princess Consort would probably not advise to call you by your na, right? Otherwise, we might draw attention," he said.
"Yes, Crown Princess Consort," Lih Luo timidly responded.
"Then you should also stop calling Crown Princess Consort, just call Doctor Shao," Shao He said in a low voice.
"Yes, Doct... Doctor Shao." Lih Luo imdiately corrected her address.
The server brought over tea for the four and then left.
Soon, the aromatic dishes were served, and the four’s appetites were greatly stimulated; they quickly devoured everything.
Shao He had not eaten to his fill in a long ti; it was truly delightful.
"I didn’t expect the food here to be so delicious; it really caught by surprise."
Pei Haolan had been praised extravagantly before, but the dish really was good.
Pei Haolan lifted his head in pride, but before he could bask in his satisfaction, he heard so gossip nearby.
"Did you hear the Prince of Jin Country was attacked and is in critical condition?"
"Really? How could that happen?"
"Of course, it’s true! I also heard that it was the Crown Prince who arranged the assassin."
"What? Why would the Crown Prince do such a thing?"
Pei Haolan was about to explode, but Pei Huaian held his hand, saying, "These rumors can’t be stopped, and they might even lead to the exposure of our identities, possibly making the situation worse, even suggesting we are bullying the common folk with our status."
"By then, it would only please those behind the scenes even more; rather than dealing with that, we should just wait for the final outco."
After hearing Pei Huaian’s explanation, Shao He held him in silent admiration, recognizing that he was even more composed and clever than he had thought.
"Do you think the Prince of Jin Country will die?" Pei Haolan couldn’t help asking.
Pei Huaian squinted his eyes, pondered for a mont before finally voicing slowly, "I’m not sure."
"Don’t you hope he’ll survive?" Pei Haolan glared as he asked.
"What use is hoping? Whether he survives depends on his willpower."
Pei Huaian said calmly, a plan already ford in his mind, ready to counter whatever moves were made against him.
Lih Luo furrowed her brows, not understanding their winding conversation.
"Let’s go," Shao He interrupted Pei Haolan, who seed about to speak more, and stood up to leave.
Lih Luo and Pei Haolan, sowhat confused, chose nevertheless to follow.
The four parted ways, and Pei Haolan and Lih Luo strolled down the street.
Suddenly, cries of alarm ca from ahead, and the two hurried over.
They saw several n surrounding a trembling woman, apparently with ill intentions.
"Stop!" Pei Haolan shouted loudly.
The man with a sinister smile turned around, seeing the two behind him, he disdainfully raised an eyebrow.
"You think you can play hero with your strength?" the man mocked.
Paying no heed to Pei Haolan, his eyes glittered even more when he saw Lih Luo behind him.
"Get lost!" Pei Haolan roared angrily.
"Oh, quite arrogant. Well, I insist not only on staying, but also on having your beautiful companion drink with ."
The man acted shalessly. Speaking thus, he disgracefully reached out his hand toward Lih Luo.
"Take her back to my house, I’ll enjoy myself first," the man lecherously signaled to another man,
"You’re asking for death!" Pei Haolan punched him, fueled by sheer fury.
"Hmph, you don’t eat the toast offered, you’ll drink the punishnt instead!" another man scoffed derisively, moving to confront him as well.
Although Pei Haolan knew so martial arts, it was sowhat strenuous to fight two n. Seizing an opportunity for a surprise attack, he severely kicked one man in the groin. The man howled in pain and fell to his knees.
Pei Haolan grabbed the man and punched him in the face. The man was knocked to the ground, unable to get up for a while.
Pei Haolan smirked proudly, watching Lih Luo step forward to rescue the woman, ready to lead them away.
Just then, the man lying on the ground suddenly sprang up, swiftly pulling out a dagger from his bosom, rushing at Pei Haolan.
Feeling the imminent danger, Pei Haolan reflexively dodged.
The man moved with agility, reaching Pei Haolan in a blink, swiftly raising the dagger aid at Pei Haolan’s chest.
Pei Haolan failed to evade and took the brunt of the blow; blood instantly stained his chest.
Lih Luo, startled, supported him, frantically shouting, "Third Prince? Third Prince?"
The murderous man, upon learning Pei Haolan’s identity, threw away the dagger in fear.
"No, it wasn’t , it wasn’t !"
He panicked and ran off.
Under her veil, Su Ruoxue hadn’t expected such a turn of events, seeing the man now unconscious, she blocked the acupoint on his chest.
Then, pulling out hemostatic dicine from her breast, she sprinkled it on Pei Haolan’s wound.
