Shao He was pondering when a sudden quarrel erupted from outside.

"Let in, I know the Crown Princess Consort is awake, I promise I won’t disturb her rest."

"Third Prince, please do not make things difficult for us servants, the Crown Prince has specifically ordered us not to let you in," the maid at the door pleaded timidly.

Pei Haolan could no longer contain himself and pushed the maid aside, trying to force his way in.

Just as he reached out to push the door open, his wrist was suddenly grabbed, and a cold breath rushed towards his face.

Pei Haolan lifted his head in surprise and saw an icy and indifferent face.

"Younger brother, I have urgent matters to discuss with..."

"Bang!" Before he could finish speaking, Pei Haolan’s body was sent flying.

The maid was terrified and promptly knelt on the ground to beg for rcy: "Your Highness, please forgive , Your Highness, please forgive !"

Pei Haolan got up from the ground, glared fiercely at the maid, and, holding his chest, angrily stared at Pei Huaian, "The Crown Prince indeed knows how to throw his weight around."

Pei Huaian completely ignored him and turned directly to walk towards the inner room.

"Stop!"

Pei Huaian continued on, pretending not to hear, his steps growing ever quicker.

"Do you truly not care for any brotherly sentint?" Seeing that Pei Huaian did not stop, Pei Haolan couldn’t help but shout.

Finally, Pei Huaian paused in his steps and slowly turned around. His brows lifted slightly, he didn’t speak, but his gaze was sharp and piercing.

Pei Haolan sensed danger, but rembering the purpose of his visit, he clenched his teeth tightly.

"It really was an accident at that ti — she didn’t an to bump into Doctor Shao."

Pei Huaian released his grip. The corner of his mouth rose slightly, forming a scornful smile: "You’re quite confident. Could it be that you have so private affair with that woman?"

Pei Haolan was stunned and took a long ti to recover.

In his mories, Pei Huaian had never been as cold and distant as he was now.

"Younger brother, you..."

"Enough, I have no ti to listen to your nonsense. You’d be better off using your ti to think carefully. Consider whether those close to you are truly trustworthy!"

Pei Huaian cut him off and turned to walk inside the house.

"Wait!" Pei Haolan followed after him, "I just want to see how Doctor Shao is doing."

Pei Huaian stopped and looked back at him: "Is that all? Or perhaps you plan to plead on the woman’s behalf with Shao He?"

"Of course, I do." Pei Haolan frowned, his expression grim, "It’s because of that she collided with the Crown Princess Consort. All the fault lies with , she’s innocent."

"Creak," the room’s door opened and Shao He walked out from inside.

Seeing the person who had co out, Pei Huaian quickly reached out to support her, "Why did you co out? Were you disturbed by the noise? I’ll have him leave right now."

"Wait a mont."

Shao He cut off Pei Huaian’s words and turned to look at Pei Haolan, demanding sternly, "What exactly is going on?"

"The woman who bumped into the Crown Princess Consort was having tea with , she really didn’t do it on purpose, please forgive her this once, Crown Princess Consort."

Shao He finally rembered who the familiar voice outside belonged to, it was the man before her.

So it seems, the quarrel outside was also between these two.

But, the content of their argunt...

"I’m asking you what your relationship is with that woman, why there was a quarrel? She..." She hesitated with the words at her lips, uncertain whether she should be asking such a question.

"We’re just ordinary friends who sit together for tea. She was in a hurry to leave due to so affairs and didn’t notice the Crown Princess Consort. That’s how the calamity happened," Pei Haolan explained, albeit evasively.

Shao He looked at the liar and asked, "Where is this woman now?"

"In the firewood shed," the cold voice of Pei Huaian sounded from beside her.

"Bring her here."

Shao He had seized the woman’s wrist at that mont and felt her pulse; it was a pulse of pregnancy indeed, but sothing about it was off, very much like Luo Jiner’s situation in the past.

It was very likely she used drugs to feign pregnancy; if that were the case, then she must have had ulterior motives.

And at that ti, she could have reached out to help Shao He, yet she chose to stand by and watch. Many things just didn’t stand up to close scrutiny.

Pei Huaian glanced at Ah Mo, who imdiately understood. When he returned, he brought a woman with him — it was Su Ruoxue.

"Crown Princess Consort, I’ve brought her."

Shao He stepped up to Su Ruoxue and with neither servility nor overbearing pride, she bowed and said, "Greetings to the Crown Princess Consort."

Shao He looked down at her condescendingly, asking lightly, "What is your na?"

"Su Ruoxue. My ho is in a remote area, and we don’t have the proprieties of official families. I accidentally collided with the Crown Princess Consort and hope for your forgiveness," Su Ruoxue replied softly, her head bowed.

"Pah, you caused the Crown Princess Consort to tumble down such high steps, you should be locked up!"

Qingxia happened to walk by, and upon hearing this, she said through clenched teeth.

"I truly didn’t an it, I beg the Crown Princess Consort for forgiveness," Su Ruoxue’s eyes filled with tears, and she looked as innocent as if she had been wronged.

Shao He held back Qingxia, signaling her to stand aside and then continued to question, "How did you get to know the Third Prince?"

Su Ruoxue wasn’t expecting him to suddenly bring up this matter, taken aback at first, she then lowered her head and said, "I got to know the Third Prince by chance."

"Is it really just a simple matter of, ’getting to know each other by chance’?" Shao He watched her with a mocking smile, intelligence sparkling in her eyes.
