Pei Huaian returned to his residence, tiptoeing as he opened the door, took off his outer clothing and draped it over the screen, then took step by step toward the bed.

He lifted the quilt to lie down, looked at the person facing away from him, and reached over from her neck, pulling her into his embrace with one swoop.

"Ah He..."

The man’s voice was low and pleasant, and his warm, strong arms held her tight, allowing her to feel that familiar scent and body warmth without effort.

It was an intimate gesture, Pei Huaian buried his head in the nape of her neck, inhaling the faint fragrance from her hair.

Soon, his breathing gradually evened out, clearly having fallen into a deep sleep.

Shao He, using the faint moonlight, carefully examines his sleeping appearance, his features relaxed, the corners of his mouth upturned in a smile, seemingly in a good mood.

"Huaian..."

She murmured softly, calling out tentatively.

However, the response was still silence, Pei Huaian appeared to be fully imrsed in it, not hearing her at all.

Shao He slowly unwound her arms from around the man’s waist, carefully slipped out from his embrace, sat up, and placed her hand over his tightly furrowed brows.

The burning heat made her smile freeze, and she quickly placed her hand on his forehead, which was even hotter than his brows.

Pei Huaian was sick!

Shao He’s face changed suddenly, and she leaped out of bed, without bothering to put on shoes, she rushed out to call for a doctor.

The maid on night duty imdiately turned to leave upon hearing this, and it was only after Shao He ca to her senses that she rembered she herself was a doctor.

She hurried back into the room to fetch her dicine chest, first administering a Wind-Cold dicine Pill to him, then Qingxia, who had co over upon hearing noise, asked, "What has happened to the Crown Princess Consort?"

"Quick, bring a wet towel!"

Shao He urged Qingxia to prepare things quickly, while she herself bent down, pulling open Pei Huaian’s collar.

At this point, Pei Huaian, burning with fever, was dazed and without much awareness, just instinctively grabbing Shao He’s wrist, wanting to pull her down to lie with him.

Qingxia brought water, and Shao He took it, wrung it out, and applied it to Pei Huaian’s forehead before getting another one to wipe his neck and limbs.

After about half a Chinese hour of busyness, Pei Huaian finally regained so consciousness and opened his eyes.

At this mont his gaze was hazy, lacking his usual sharpness, appearing exceptionally gentle.

"Awake? Where do you feel uncomfortable?" Shao He moved closer to ask him, watching his expressions with concern.

Pei Huaian fixed his gaze on the girl before him, a bright light flickering in his eyes, a faint smile tugging at his lips, he hoarsely said, "Ah He..."

"Yes, I’m here..." Shao He nodded, responding softly, "Is there anything else that’s uncomfortable?"

Pei Huaian shook his head, took her fair, slender right hand into his, and caressed it in his palm, "I’m fine now..."

His voice was deep and magnetic, full of an enchanting charm that was particularly intoxicating to the ear.

Shao He stared blankly for a mont, then lowered her head to avoid the man’s ardent gaze, softly saying, "Then... have so water first..."

Pei Huaian obediently nodded, took the teacup from her hand, and drank it all in one go.

"Crown Princess Consort, the dicine is ready!"

Qingxia ca over with the simred dicine.

Shao He helped Pei Huaian sit up, put a pillow behind him, sat on the edge of the bed, and took the dicine bowl from Qingxia’s hand, gently blowing on it before bringing the spoon to his mouth.

Pei Huaian smiled, "You’ve worked hard..."

Shao He shook her head, "I am your Crown Princess Consort, and also a doctor, it is my duty to care for you."

Pei Huaian lowered his eyes. Although they were married, still, there was so unease in his heart because Shao He’s attitude towards him was always hot and cold, leaving him unable to decipher her thoughts.

He still didn’t know whether Shao He married him out of true love, or because of so obligation towards Linzhang, this had always been a question in his heart.

He dared not ask, fearing that after asking, it would not be as good as it was now.

"Huaian," seeing he didn’t respond, Shao He couldn’t help but call his na again.

"Are you listening to ?"

Pei Huaian pursed his lips, was silent for a while, then suddenly grabbed her left hand, pressed it against his chest with determination, and said, "Ah He, do you take care of because you are a doctor, or because you are my wife?"

Shao He was stunned for a mont, "What exactly are you trying to ask?"

Pei Huaian held her hand, pressed it against his cheek, and caressed it gently, his eyes tender and soft.

"I hope it’s because you are my wife that you care for , not just because you are a doctor."

Shao He withdrew her hand and reached to feel his forehead, "You’re no longer feverish, why are you still talking nonsense? Stop thinking about unnecessary things."

After saying that, she stood up and handed the dicine bowl to Qingxia.

After finishing these tasks, Shao He got up to search the cabinet for dical books, just as she pulled out a book, she saw that the person on the bed had already risen.

"What are you doing?"

Pei Huaian got out of bed, lifting the quilt, and smiled when he saw Shao He supporting him.

"I’m fine, you don’t have to be so nervous."

With those words, he walked to the writing desk, picked up the Wolf Brush hanging on the pen rack, dipped it in ink, and wrote several lines. After he stopped, he stared at the paper for a long ti.

Shao He turned around to bring him a cloak to wear, and said discontentedly, "You’ve just had a high fever; don’t catch cold again."

Hearing the gentle concern, Pei Huaian was very happy inside.

"Ah He," he called out softly, his voice very light.
