Chapter 569: Chapter 570 This is Your Maternal Ho

Shao He drove directly to the Crown Prince’s Mansion, and she entered smoothly without obstacle.

Pei Huaian, who was in the study listening to Ah Mo’s report, suddenly raised his hand to cover the area over his heart, then dropped the pen in his hand and ran out.

Ah Mo didn’t understand what was wrong with his master until he followed him out and saw the returning Doctor Shao, and then he understood.

He had said, if anything in this world could alarm the master to such an extent, it must be related to the young doctor.

Shao He was tightly embraced by him, greedily inhaling the scent that belonged solely to him.

“You’re back.”

When his deep, magnetic voice resounded, it made Shao He involuntarily shiver slightly.

She didn’t know why, but just thinking about Pei Huaian made her heartbeat quicken, as though sothing was beyond her control.

“Mm, I’m back,” Shao He hugged him in response.

“Good, as long as you’re back, as long as you’re back.”

Pei Huaian released her and did not ask where she had been taken, but instead asked, “Are you hungry? I’ll have Ah Mo prepare a al for you.”

Shao He did not refuse; she was indeed a bit hungry.

Ah Mo moved quickly, and the pair had just finished a cup of tea when Ah Mo ca over carrying a al. It consisted of light ingredients.

Pei Huaian picked up a bowl, scooped up the spoon, blew on it to cool it down, and then held it to Shao He’s mouth.

“Open your mouth, ah—”

His tone was calm, his gaze focused, as if feeding her was an ordinary affair.

Yet, the other party was startled by his action for a mont, then obediently opened her mouth and ate.

Watching her docile deanor, Pei Huaian smiled and continued to feed her the porridge.

After Shao He finished the entire bowl of porridge, Pei Huaian then started his own al.

After breakfast, Shao He asked, “How has The Emperor been these past few days?”

“He’s been taking the dicine you prescribed daily. Recently, his complexion looks much better than before, but he still occasionally suffers from bouts of pain,” replied Pei Huaian.

“That’s good. I’ll head to Anji Hall first, and then I’ll join you to enter the imperial palace after I’m done,” Shao He said.

After speaking, she got up to leave.

“Co for dinner tonight.”

Pei Huaian grabbed her hand, reluctant for her to leave.

“Mm, I’ll head back first.”

Shao He withdrew her hand, waved at him, and quickly walked towards the exit.

After leaving the Crown Prince’s Mansion, she headed straight for the dical clinic.

Inside the clinic, Yun Qian sat by the table studying herbs, placing each one into a dicine jar and mixing.

Zhao Yuebei was also helping on the side, “Doctor Yun, is this the herb?”

Yun Qian looked up and said, “No, it’s in the third row, the leftmost sieve.”

Zhao Yuebei was about to get up to fetch it when he saw the figure standing at the doorway and froze in shock.

He rubbed his eyes, unsure whether what he was seeing was real or an illusion.

Seeing the person still standing there, Yun Qian spoke with dissatisfaction, “What are you dawdling for? Hurry up and get the herb.”

“Doctor Shao has returned.”

Upon hearing this, Yun Qian got up sharply from his chair. When he saw Shao He, with a smile brimming on her face, he pretended to scold, “You rember how to co back? I thought the Crown Princess Consort had long forgotten our small clinic.”

“Look at you, talking like that,” Shao He replied with an apologetic smile. “Soone abducted these past days, and I’ve only just been released.”

Yun Qian crossed his arms and huffed, “I know, you were kidnapped by your fiancé into the imperial palace.”

“Kidnapped into the imperial palace? Who told you that?” Shao He, sensing sothing amiss, wondered when she had been taken to the imperial palace.

“Who else but your Crown Prince.”

Not understanding why Pei Huaian would say such a thing, Shao He ultimately chose to hide the fact that she had been abducted.

“The Emperor is seriously ill; there was no other way. I didn’t even return ho after leaving the palace but ca straight here instead.”

Hearing her explanation, Yun Qian didn’t press further, as when she had initially left the palace, she had done so without notice, likely to avoid troubling him.

“Alright, I can’t be bothered with you anymore. But now that you are the Crown Princess Consort, you can’t be as willful as before. It’s ti to start acting more reserved.”

“I know, I know, so naggy.”

Yun Qian rolled his eyes and turned back to continue mixing the herbs.

Driven by curiosity, Shao He ca closer; the sll of the herbs wafted to her nose, allowing her to identify several of the components.

“Are you planning to make an anesthetic dicine?”

“Your nose is still so sharp. Anesthetic dicine does seem to be a lot better than anesthetic powder, and it also has a wider range of applications,” remarked Yun Qian, who never favored anesthetic powder after seeing Shao He’s dicine.

“Smart,” Shao He praised, giving him a thumbs up with a smile.

Yun Qian also urged her, “Hurry back now. Your wedding is only a few days away. Get ready well, I want to see a beautiful bride.”

Although he could not marry her himself, seeing her on her wedding day would bring him great satisfaction.

“I will definitely send you an invitation to the wedding. Others may not attend, but you must be there.”

Shao He had long considered Yun Qian as family; how could he be absent from her wedding?

“Alright, on that day, I want to carry you to the wedding sedan as your brother, and I want to let everyone know that you are not without family; this place is your family ho.”

Shao He’s eyes reddened with emotion, “Thank you.”

She was aware of how much Yun Qian had done for her and knew of his feelings towards her. However, she could not reciprocate Yun Qian’s affection; she felt only familial love for him.

“Enough, crying is not your style, and I don’t like such scenes either,” Yun Qian said, turning his head away, struggling to suppress the sourness in his heart.

Only after Shao He turned to leave did he allow himself to look again at the figure he could never grasp.
